@@guardian6975 doctrinal, yes. Not trying to split hairs, but TACP in and of themselves are not Special Operations per se. Some are assigned to Special Operations units, but this requires a follow on training and selection. A few years ago, the training pipeline was merged and taken over by the AFSOC command. Upon becoming a TACP your initial assignment will be to a conventional unit. No other AFSOC or Special Operations role will find themselves directly supporting the conventional and or infantry units. This is nothing against the career field. In fact in could be a plus. It could open up more opportunities for growth.

Unfortunately some may not like the answer. In a near peer environment and LSCO, TACP will play more of a role on the conventional side. Especially those assigned to echelons above brigades.

No, theres only 80% fill rate in the USAF TACP atm due to not meeting the recruitment quota. So they’re looking to cut 50% of the 20% of jobs that are unfilled.

Ingrid, the Air Force is doing that. Potential Air Force recruits, regardless of Air Force Specialty Code, may be eligible to apply for Enlisted College Loan Repayment Program (ECLRP), which offers repayment plans up to $65,000. To receive the repayment, members must complete training up to 3-skill level in their respective Air Force specialty and be contracted under the ECLRP to receive the benefit. If the applicant enlists in an Air Force Specialty which receives and Initial Enlistment Bonus, he or she is eligible to receive both. This program will remain open until all annual funds are exhausted. Those interested in learning more about ECLRP should speak to their local recruiter. Ray U.S. Air Force and Space Force Recruiting

Bluebrickvr, By Federal Law you must be at least age 17 with parental consent and at least a junior to have an appointment or to join the Air Force. However, they may speak to recruiters when they come to their high school. While you are still too young to enlist into the Air Force, it is never too early to start preparing. There are a few things you can do now to prepare for once you reach the required age. First study hard and graduate from high school. Get the best grades you can in all subjects especially English, Math and Science. This will help you improve your score on the ASVAB test which is required for enlistment. Say no to drugs and get an early start on physical conditioning are important steps in the right direction. And stay out of trouble. Law violations can delay and in some cases will disqualify you from joining the Air Force and taking advantage of the opportunities available. Starting early and being prepared are your best shot. Stay in contact with your Guidance Counselor and maybe we will see you in a few years. You may research more information about the Air Force on our site of www.airforce.com to include benefits like education, careers, training, lifestyle, requirements, etc. There is also the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) portion that answers a lot of the most common questions asked: www.airforce.com/frequently-asked-questions/ You may also download the Aim High App: www.airforce.com/aim-high-app You may also log on to Airforce.com to chat with a live advisor for assistance or call us to answer questions. If qualified you can join at age 17 with parental consent during your junior or senior year in high school as part of The Air Force Ambassador Program and enter the Delayed Entry Program (DEP), but you will not go to Basic Military Training (BMT) until AFTER you graduate high school.
