Dr Carter, you never fail to turn up the most intriguing things. The famous Graham Greene book, "The Quiet American" centred on a USIS/CIA operative in Saigon c. 1952. So it is not surprising these films were part of that support for/tension with the French regime. I'd love to see some of the materials Edward Lansdale was using in the north in 1954/56. The story if the propaganda war, as waged on all sides (more than "both"!), could no doubt fill a heavy volume or two. I am presently staying in the Hotel Phu Si, I have a new appreciation of the gravitas of that name for Vietnamese.

I too would be most interested to know what Lansdale was up to in the mid 50s. Seems he was parsing out the opium industry out of indochina - And negotiating with the French to manufacture it into heroin. I seem to recall similar during the Reagan/Bush era with crack, and cocaine & Afghanistan heroin under Obama.... It would seem the US CIA is a transnational criminal organization that manages the international drug trade. Whenever someone in Congress asks them about it, they block the inquires by citing COG: Continuity of Government. I was taken back when the head of the Secret Service, when asked about the first Trump assassination attempt, tried to head off congressional questioning with the claim, "COG"!

One more note on Americas role in the world. After WW2 and during the cold war, there was a sence of responsibilty in America, and an understanding about the importance of aide, soft power, intelligence and a proactice foreign policy. Lots of money were spent - I studied in America on an international scholarship. America made Europe a safer place, and the military presence was only part of it. Sure one can discuss CIAs role in Africa, Central- and South America but for most part US contributed to a good development and Thailand and this video is an example (did America save 🇹🇭?). Glenn Corn, former station chief in Moskva, talk about his time in the Company in a You Tube video, which I do recommend. If you been active in business and public-social life in Europe, and come from a small neutral country- and maybe from a special family -its not uncommon to have seen hostile state actors and interests up close, a reason for and a backdrop to, why cooperation among friendly countries is so important.

Fascinating. Terrific post. I can't figure out their specific argument in this film to justify the idea of "US vs Them". "Join our side because our weapons are better"? Is that it? "People in the city are really happy and well fed..." Later on in the film we hear the revolutionaries saying something to the effect, "...bananas are way to expensive, do you know why the banana's are so expensive?" That's it for their side of the argument. It's never said just why the bananas are more expensive. This cartoon diatribe seems ironic when you consider today's inflation rate: the product of endless money printing and the proliferation of (illegal) corporate monopolies. Further compelling is the fact that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and BlackRock own most of the farm land in the USA today. Meanwhile, BlackRock is using counterfeit money created by the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank (FED) to lead a $120 Trillion Investment Boom That Is Upending Wall St. BlackRock now holds the majority of single family houses in the country; commercial real estate; and, farmland! The 1988 Economist cover pitched us on getting ready for a single unified currency. That was also the year that BlackRock was founded: “Since 1988 the company has put itself in a position to de facto control the Federal Reserve, most Wall Street mega-banks, including Goldman Sachs, the Davos World Economic Forum Great Reset, the Biden Administration and, if left unchecked, the economic future of our world. BlackRock is the epitome of what Mussolini called Corporatism, where an unelected corporate elite dictates top down to the population.” F William Engdahl I'm in the same spot today: Trying to influence this tiny island nation in a positive direction. So far, they influence me far more than I can exert any influence over them. In this film, I see the US Government felt it necessary to use childish cartoons with little meaning beyond the dramatic music. An enormous propaganda campaign was waged in the USA after WW2 in an attempt to convert the American masses into becoming prolific consumers. It worked! Today we have deadly shopping mall stampedes. One of the most fascinating documentaries about this propaganda process is found on KZbin and entitled, "Century of Self". Blessings from Nature Island.

@@CarterOnConflict You can believe wikipedia or 'academic' history if you like, I prefer to keep an open mind and question everything and everyone. Here is one review from amazon that says it better than I can... "This book is awesome. People that don't understand something will typically speak negative or belittle whatever that subject is. Anyone that have a respectable knowledge of history (not just what's in the text book) will agree that this author has done his homework. Not to mention a lot of things that was said in this book confirmed what I read before from people that was actually apart of and spent sufficient years in that institution in Rome. So before you take heed to some negative reviewers comments you owe it to your self to read this book and read for your self and prove if you can anything in this book that is false. This is why I like to read books from authors that has passed away as a result of their work or they have been through tough times because of it. Like William Cooper did. Most likely it will be true. God bless!" The US tax system is totally corrupt. Saussy had band info on how to legally remove yourself from having 'citizen' status. Long story... Read the book, hear the other side. Wonder why this book, out of print, costs so much to buy. All roads lead to Rome isn't said for no reason, it must have started back when this history was being made and the vatican was operating overtly, before they mastered The Art of War by Sun Tzu. Brought to the west by, you guessed it, a jesuit priest. Just before the American Revolution to boot. There is history we are not allowed to ask about...
