No movie action propaganda film, no senseless yelling or combat rolls like the Chinese amphibious "assault" exercises. just pure professionalism and real situational training.

bit of a lack of pace though, don't know if its fear of damaging equipment or whatever but large exercises like the chinese ones and Zapad-xx serve as a basically 1:1 of what they would do in combat
@koc988

@@flyingtanks9313 Which is why they would fail. What you see in those large televised exercises is set piece training where a large force choreographs an attack on a position, and then the next, and then the next. Western armies (something Russia has never really fought until maybe now in ukr) are a lot more fluid and integrated then the Nazi's from which this idea was created to fight against. We actually had a far better combined arms doctrine in WW2 than the Germans and continue to have a far better force on force and combined arms doctrine than our peers. Don't let people smashing bricks on their heads and rolling in the winter snow fool you into thinking what training really is. This is what training looks like. No mass rocket attacks and mass tank rushes. True fluid battle.

Its quite a bit more than 100lbs. Those Rucks are probably at least 70lbs if not more. Then you have body armor, weapons, ammo, food, water commo gear..Guys who are Mortar Infantry will be carrying a mortar tube and base plate. Machine Gunners will have obviously heavier weapons and ammo etc. The only thing thats deceased in weight is the body armor that IBA shit we had during the early day of OEF, OIF was rediculas heavy. It could weight 30-50 lbs once you added all the extra plates and attachements.

Light Infantry only referes to a lack of Armored Vehicle Transport. Units built around Armored platforms such as Bradleys and Strikers are Mechanized Infantry. The Marine Corps currently only has about 20,000 actual Infantry Marines and they are all light Infantry where as the Army has 50,000 Infantry and they are mostly Mechanized with the exception of Airborne Infantry and Air Assault Units.

@@ret9170 Well that depends, what do you consider way off? I was simply quoting from the last time I checked the numbers. At the time maybe 2017-2020 those numbers were correct the Army has since grown a little from 450-480 thousand so yeh its actually at the moment about 72,000 Infantry it ranges about 15-17%. The Corps however has shrunk from 180,000 to about 177,000 there are 27 Infantry Batallions in the Marine Corps and 900 Marines in each that is 24,000 men though I think its actually about 28,000 so no not that far off at all and the Marine Corps Infantry is expected to shrink down as low as 15,000.

I’m thinking the same thing. I’m getting close to finishing With the Old Breed by EB Sledge. Having tanks was a must when facing off with the Japanese at Peleliu. Maybe there’s an expectation that the ARMY will fill in those roles.
@lukelewis9165
@lukelewis9165 Жыл бұрын
The intent of the USMC is to contest Islands that will have already been cut off and neutralized by the Navy and USMC air wings. The fact is that in modern warfare we simply don’t know what a beach landing will look like. Chances are expensive and cost intensive tanks will be too much of a liability for beach landings as they tank up more space in landing ships and are slower to disembark. When we trained for landings it was under the impression that we landed in a calm beach that was picked up due to lack of enemy presence (since we can simply use drones and satellites to find enemy positions) and instead of being slaughtered on a beach like in the WW2 days we would use a clam beach to set up a defensive perimeter

@quiban9603
@quiban9603 Жыл бұрын
The yellow thing on the barrel is a blank fire adapter, it covers the barrel and allows the weapon to produce enough pressure to cycle the bolt when shooting blanks (which produce less pressure than real ammo) they also do indeed help you not get dirt in your barrel if you drop your rifle.
@Imjustbored07
@Imjustbored07 Жыл бұрын
That is a BFA (Blank Firing Adapter) it’s used for converting the weapon into a blank firing weapon so during training they can simulate gun fire and all that without firing actual projectile’s out the muzzle. And plus once you are done with the training they can take off the BFA and their weapon will be able to use live rounds again and not black firing rounds.

Ive always wondered, when does equipment become more of a liability than a benefit? I haven't asked until now because damn. How does Carrying all that gear help us be effective at all? It seems like our soldiers are just becoming slow moving pack mule targets. And when they're not, they're worn out from carrying so much bullshit earlier. There's got to be a better compromise or way of doing this stuff by now? I know they're probably organizing rucks in certain locations but Jesus Christ even with so much training how can we expect these people to fight effectively when their backs and joints are broken. Lots of respect

Unavoidable. Your personal protective equipment is about 30-35 pounds in itself. Your sleeping system, change of clothes, and warming layers add another 15 pounds. Your gas mask another several pounds. Your water can be another 10 pounds. Your food another 10 pounds. Your personal rifle and six full magazines another 15 pounds. Your uniform and boots itself weigh about 6 pounds. Now you add in bulky radios, anywhere from handheld radios to blocks weighing 15-20 pounds (already a significant improvement from previous wars). Now think about the poor souls having to carry a machine gun, or a rocket launcher, or a mortar, and spreadloading hundreds of pounds worth of ammunition for the different weapon systems.
@lukelewis9165
@lukelewis9165 Жыл бұрын
The unfortunate reality of modern warfare is almost all of that gear carried is absolutely necessary… if you have served (especially if you were a grunt) you know that once you are in the field getting resupplies are not a given. In my ILBE I always packed as light as I could because the ducks we’re usually 15km to 20km marches into the field, but even packing as light as I could I knew I needed: Sleeping system (which was the bag, woobie, and bug net) I had my PAS-28 thermals, Nods, MREs (two per day) one canteen in the pack and one camel back on the side pouch, extra batteries for my equipment, map gear, cammie paint, gortex, extra cammies, socks, underwear, toothbrush, tarp and iso mat (goes on the outside of the pack as you can see in the video) and that’s before adding billet specific equipment in the main pack, for me I was a DM so I had to carry Binoculars, extra write in the rain books for my formulas and DOPE charts. If you are an 0331 you have to have someone carry the gun and someone carry the tripod. My point is that yes this shit sucks 100% but it’s almost impossible to reduce the weight without giving up something important. 0300 in the USMC is for tough motherfuckers that like it or not will be expected to go into a contested area and destroy the enemy while being self sufficient

Just curious. But why is the face camo so lightly and incorrectly applied? What's the point of even putting it on at all if it's so lightly and incorrectly applied? Just curious? It looks more like movie camo application than proper camo. Aren't they teaching these guys the proper way to apply face cammo? Just saying why put it on at all if it's done so improperly? Anyways just curious. Also with invading sandy islands and ect don't you think they should paint their faces with alot of sandy colors and also tan and sandy light to med browns or greens? And thank you guys all for your excellent service marines....it seems like the Marines and the Seals too almost never seem to correctly apply face camo? Where the army infantry and special ops forces more often seems to correctly apply face camo....also with a near peer future China War innthe pacific islands in the possible future in the marines they need to get rid of the black patches in the digital marine camo. Beaches have lots of sandy colors and tans, light and med browns, and greens for vegetation. Beaches do not have blacks. The black patches in the digital camo does not fit the marines future environments. They should get rid of the black patches in the digital cam and replace the black patches with brown patches instead. The body armor though is a good color for beach invasions and island fighting. A-tacs camo is amazing. But I'd not have the black in the greenish marine digital camo. I'd either replace the black digital patches on the green marine digital it with a dark or medium brown or with a sandy tan or more lighter Brown. Or I'd keep half of the black on it and reduce the other half of the black with another color I listed or even darker green. The light brownish Tan yet olive looking body armor and backpacks are great for beaches and ect even forest. But the digital camo needs at least less black patches in it. And they need proper face paint. Then the corps could improve its camo abilities. But for island assults they could do alot better than the current marine digital with black digi patches. And face camo could be applied much better too. If your assaulting beaches you should be camo up in ways that blend in with a sandy island environment. 🏝. Islands have sandy tan colors and light browns. Medium and mud browns. Light, medium green and Olive greens. Even a dark green is better than a black. I just want our troops to be more camo up and concealed than the Chinese, koreans, or Russians in their predicted future theaters of fighting. A harder for the enemy to see marine, is a harder for the enemy to shoot, and is a harder to shoot and hit at medium to long distances marine.

I really don't like those new ECH helmets. They're just cut so high up. I understand they need room for their headsets, but you'd think we could develop something that doesn't expose the whole freakin side of your head.

Overall pretty legit. Don’t know why as a former 240B gunner why the Marine was Rucking with it on his back like that. Doesn’t seem realistic. You want to be able to lay down suppressive fire immediately when in contact. This is coming from a Paratrooper/ 82nd Airborne infantryman. Much like the load out you see above we had just a different ride to get there. Lol but respect 🫡 Marines just curious

Our country acknowledges seals / delta like they do cool stuff and we advertise the marines as just a invasion force. The recon marines are the most active spec ops we have.

naw dog SOD-A's and D's get way more action. Recon isn't not a direct action force and definitely is not a special operations capability.

@Liberals Are gross force recon hasn't been around since the early 2000s. Restructured into marsoc and conventional recon.

The 75th ranger regiment actually during the war on terror on average saw alot more action then force recon or Marsoc. But marines had alot of very intesive battles also.

Why are some marines faces covered with camo makeup and others have nothing on their face? Make no sense to me in a real world exercise.

@@bannaxe7338 Its worth sending billions of military equipments to Ukraine coz they really shown their will to fight for their freedom and independent from tyranny unlike the coward Afghanistani who fled when the Americans leave.
