What about the Uvalde School shooting?
@loafoffloof3420
@loafoffloof3420 2 ай бұрын
@@clarkesmith. very likely he was not in Uvdale PD. If the Uvdale PD police chief at that time Arredondo took into his leadership position and green lit his officers to go in, then the Uvdale would have been less of a tragedy as it is known today. Otherwise, it was also a poor coordination of communication and also the failure of initiative/leadership of the first officer Adrian Gonzales whose reactions at Uvdale that also compounded into making such a tragedy. Arredondo and the Gonzales were both held responsible, charged, and was fired from the police department
@clarkesmith.
@clarkesmith. 2 ай бұрын
@@loafoffloof3420 I know he's not in Uvalde PD. But SWAT was definitely there, and they didnt do anything. Of course, like you said, communication and leadership failure was the biggest cause of it and I'm glad the 2 of them got fired. But I'm just angry that the SWAT commander (there should be one) couldn't take over the role and take control of the situation.

@flyingdoctor99
@flyingdoctor99 3 жыл бұрын
@@HeroesNextDoor That makes sense, even if returning to a fight if you were in need for a TQ is not very realistic. IRL you will be removed your weapons so you cannot apply friendly fire due to blood loss or pain, and you have to be taken taken out of the hot zone if possible. Training to stay in fight is one side - training to react to a hit comrade the other ;)
@ntlhui
@ntlhui 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, it sounds like this is a relatively new group of SWAT officers getting trained. Teaching the team to apply a TQ is realistic, but then taking that guy out of the fight means he doesn't get to learn from the rest of the simulation. In terms of training outcomes, it's probably better if the guy stays in the fight in this scenario. If this were an operational unit conducting drills, then arguably it would make more sense to take the guy out. Depends on what the training objective is.

In the past, there was a case where the military and police teams were put together and competed in alternating offensive and defensive roles. Recommend reading "Training at the Speed of Life" by Kenneth Murray. Having taught Sims for over ten years I can see several safety issues to be considered. For example the Role players ( I get SWAT guys dont wear full masks, we dont either) need to have proper head protection and using real kids... I get realism but the liability ...

For those wondering why they didn't immediately help an injured victim, is because the best way to save someone is to neutralize the immediate threats first, then drag them to safety. If you attempt to save someone during a gunfight, you will end up being a second casualty. And if your buddies try to save you, the bodies will keep stacking until some takes care of the threat. Edit: they also taught us in the police academy that the first team in is supposed to look for, and neutralize the threat. Second teams going in, are responsible for casualty and evacuation. Different departments have different SOPs, but I heard it's generally the same

@@fakejake4966 HRT, Delta, whatever. They will often wear swat uniforms, probably because they don't want to show off their top tier teams on TV. But most SWAT members are either ex military or current police officers who drink beer and train once in a blue moon. They aren't really competent to rescue anyone on their own, they just do high profile arrests and drug raids. Of course there are exceptions, some members are good but the vast majority is on par with your regular police officer. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory but that's what my friend, ex-SWAT member told me. And it isn't hard to believe, makes sense when you think about it.

Yep. I'm a POG Marine, but when I was going through MCT...we had to take a buddy and clear a small village with enemies inside and paper targets, had some MOUT and room clearance stuff involved. Me and my buddy get to this wall and I told him to get over the wall and I'd cover him...he goes over the wall and some guys across the street shoot at me from a rooftop, I shoot back and they go down... haven't been hit yet, so he's over the wall I'm like hey I'm crossing over cover me and I start to go over...as soon as I get to the top of the wall with my chest over the ledge a guy pops up from that same roof and pops me two times in my ass, it stung like I got stung by a bee I was surprised...they do hurt lol. I get over the wall and we shoot a couple shots at him and get him in the chest from beyond the wall...clearsd some more stuff with paper targets and got to the end, finished up with a sore ass. Then thought to myself "wow if that was real, I'd have a couple real holes in my ass" lol... people laughing at me because I had two pink dots on my ass. Good times.

Sim rounds do not carry as much gunpowder as normal rounds, only enough to propel the capsule to the target, also its quiet because the round is not breaking the sound barrier so it doesn't have that really loud "Crack" sound. They are louder in person, the microphones can't pick up the piercing part of the sound.

Okay, forgive my POV-- but this looks fun! The training, qualification, everything; it's a good workout and test for everyone. I also understand the seriousness of these exercises and totally respect that it's no fun matter and that the stakes are high in reality. But just taking it for face value, this looks enjoyable to go through in order to understand the fundamentals (still much respect).
