It was shot down by the Houthis. 1---The US military has many rules of engagement, and nobody can launch a missiles at will without notifying others. 2---The Houthis recently broken through Israel's Iron Dome air defense, meaning somebody behind it, so it would not be surprising if they can obtain air defense missiles. But telling the truth will make the United States no face, so it has no choice but to borrow the captain's head for use.
