This film of features "b-roll" type images of US Air Force and U.S. Navy jet airplanes including the F-86 Sabrejet, the YF-93 as well as other aircraft built by North American Aviation and Douglas. It opens with the F-86 Sabre, aka Sabrejet, spinning and throwing smoke behind it (:18). It falls away revealing an aerial view of an unknown coastline (:24). Close shots show the pilot in the cockpit while in flight (:30). This airlane was produced by North American Aviation and it was first introduced in 1949. The was the first swept wing fighter plane able to go up against the swept wing Soviet MiG-15 during the Korean War. Gun camera footage as the F-86 pilot fires off rounds (:37). A Mig-15 is hit and loses a wing (:53). The Vought F6U Pirate (1:12) was first flown in October of 1946. It peels off and is followed by another North American Sabre (1:18). A magnificent shot shows rounds fired off from the M-3 .50-caliber machine guns (1:32). The North American YF-93 (1:43) appears on the ground with crewmen atop its wings. This was the American fighter development of the F-86 Sabre first flown in 1950. The North American F-86D (2:00) follows. This craft was a transonic jet interceptor developed in the late 1940’s. Rockets are fired off (2:18). A close shot shows the nose and cockpit of the Sabre (2:37). The North American FJ-1 Fury (3:12) flies alongside the North American XFJ-2B Fury (3:12). A close shot shows the nose and wing shape of the XFJ-2B (3:23). Wheels extend on the FJ-2/-3 (3:36) as it prepares to land (3:44). The Douglas AD Skyraider appears (3:48). Four North American FJ-3’s fly in formation (3:58). Rows of the stand on the ground with ground crew members and pilots (4:26). Another shoots down the runway for takeoff (4:38). The North American FJ-4B flies over blue waters and white clouds (4:50). A back angle shows the tail of the craft as it readies for takeoff (5:12). A red stripped North American F-86 (5:26) appears prior to the Canadair F-86 (5:29). The F86 takes to the air (5:35). The film concludes as a final North American F-86 heads down the runway (6:06).

Wonder how the FJ-4 Fury would have compared to the F-86 as a dogfighter. Would be interesting to see it pitted VS the Migs 15/17 over the Taiwan 🇹🇼 Strait in 1958 alongside the F-86.

That's not an F6U at 1:12. It's an FJ-1- the first of the Fury series.

1:36 -> The closed-nose Sabre, the XF-93 ! Fortunately the F-100 Super-Sabre looks nothing like it ! It looks like the British swept-wing version of the Sea Hawk, see the video on the planes from Hawker. Vought should have pursued development with the F-6U instead of the ill-fated F-7U ! But the F-8U was great.
