Haven't heard one of these virtue signalers speak about the genocides going on in China, Burma, Ethiopia or, Sudan...That makes me think this isn't really to do with Gaza/Palestinians , it's just a way for entitled kids to have something to scream about. and a way to express their true antisemitic feelings. It's a shame they don't do their homework to know the full history like who the true indigenous people of Judea(the true name of what they refer to as Palestine)are, or that Judaism is a millennium older than Islam, or that many very poor Jewish people in Europe pooled their money to buy back some of the land in Judea(that was stolen from them), or that the name Palestinian is barely over a hundred years old and describes an amalgamation of various Arabs that wanted a title for political purposes. That most other Arab countries don't allow Palestinians into their countries That Egypt also shares a walled border with Gaza.. And that Palestinian "refugees" have been on the dole from UNRWA for 80 years non-stop, even though many have Jordanian citizenship. They spew phrases without knowing the historical meaning, or geography they refer to. I just can't figure out how they got into university, really......

I’ll give you indirect support for China, but the US doesn’t have anywhere near the level of funding going to the people enacting genocides in Burma, Ethiopia or Sudan so protesting to stop funding those would be pointless. On the other hand, Gaza civilians being taken out by US funded heavy weaponry is a real thing that not everyone supports. Also, Judaism does not equal Israel, which is itself not even 100 years old. I give my full support to Jewish Voice for Peace and a lot of the young Jewish people joining these protests to underscore that point.

The US needs to do a better job educating its young people so they don’t fall prey to terrorist propaganda and see that both sides have legitimate claims and both need to compromise. The protesters can and should protest all the excesses committed by everyone but they only focus on blaming one side. Hamas has been a disaster for the people of Gaza and the protesters should also be calling for the release of the hostages and at a minimum that the terrorist responsible for the attack that started this to surrender to justice. If Hamas released the hostages and surrendered those responsible for the terrorist attack the war would stop immediately and international aid would flow freely into Gaza. Let’s also stop with the genocide hyperbole and realize that what we are witnessing is the horror of an urban war made worse by an unprecedented integration of a terrorist war machine into a civilian population and their homes and infrastructure. All war is horrible but urban warfare is the absolute worst and the suffering of the innocent civilians should break everyone’s hearts.

It sounds like the young people are having hard conversations but are at least listening whereas a police force armed with riot gear are not there to listen. It sounds like we agree on groups that believe they are "chosen" to rule and the fact the British had a hand in forming Israel in the first place, but they are here now and we have to deal with reality as it is not as you wish it was. I don't have a piety of the youth but I do have an optimism and, again, the realization they are here, have something to say and should be listened too. The protestors bemoan 80 years of Palestinian woes, but the Palestinians made choices that got them there and prolonged it. Jews are going on 5784 years of being exiled and losing everything many times over. Every year for all that time, we say ,"Next year in Jerusalem", why do we say that? The Romans exiled us from Judea ( then renamed it Palestine, a territory, not a legal entity, state, or country ,in the same way we say "the Central Valley"), our indigenous home, and it has always been our desire to go home. We did not originate in Poland as the protestors yell, nor are we colonizers. It was our land(and the Bedouins, and Druze) long before there were "Palestinians". Judaism is a millennium older, and in Israel, before Islam came into being. These kids yell slogans and take up a cause without knowing the full, complete, history.

Yes and not only that, too many people confuse Judaism with Jewish national identity and ethnicity. The Jewish people are in fact an ethnic group not simply a religion and at the time of the Roman forced diaspora they went to great lengths to maintain their national identity in addition to their religious beliefs. That framework provided a continuity from one generation to the next that insured that they would maintain their indigenous identity as the last of the original people of that land. Let’s also not forget that over 50 percent of the Jews living in Israel are from the Middle East and North Africa where they lived since before the advent of Islam. These people numbering at nearly one million were forced flee after Israel won its independence. The main impediment to peace with the Arab world is their unwillingness to accept that historical fact and their continuous denial of any legitimate rights that the Jewish people have to live in their ancestral homeland. From what I have observed from many interviews with Palestinians, many assert that ALL Jews are occupiers and that the only thing that will satisfy them is for the entire land to become an Arab state.

The students are very lacking in geopolical understanding, and who is pulling the strings. They are repeating the cliches al jazeera has taught them nd the qatar paid professors teach. America is being played by qatar, iran, etc. Al jazeera focuses on gaza, while not reporting on the many more kurds killed by the turks, which is actually trying to wipe out their culture. When has al jazeera ever reported on the iranian leaders sentencing students to prison and death. Where is al jazeera reporting on sudan, ethiopia, Mali, Nigeria ? America and europe try too hard to be tolerant of an intolerant ideology of a 1400 year cult bent on conquest, and conversion, . For example , the students see this as an extension of fighting for minority rights, of the sixties, as social justice. They are in for a rude moment when they research sub - saharan slavery, and see their ancestors are still being sold
