Mark Wilson shares an important detail about stop shots 1 hour 26 minutes into video. Pro speed = 7.2 mph and less. Amateur speed = double digits. Pro speed equals accuracy. Thanks Mark!

Rack 18. Jeremy Jones breaking. It was NOT compliant. The 6-ball didn't get past the side pocket before it got hit and stopped. ONLY 2 balls made it past the line. The fact that Jeremy adamantly claimed that it was compliant brings to question what his motive was. He was adamantly wrong. Admittedly, it did not affect the outcome of the rack because there was no way change was going to push or give it back, it just brings to question integrity.

It would be interesting if they put the Accustats errors up on the screen. For instance, was Chang's two railer on the two of an error? I would call it a VERY well played attempt. The fact that it hooked and left was in no way the shooter's fault, MHO. I would NEVER call that an error, but with Mark's comment earlier it would be educational and entertaining to see.

What you call the (hook) action comes from inertia usually from the cue ball. Force-Speed and Make Speed all must be accounted for on bank shots especially!
@MrJdsenior
@MrJdsenior 2 жыл бұрын
@@donaldseyah6526 My guess, reading my comment and not remembering the video, is that I am talking about the ball rolling off its proper line, but maybe not. Yes, the bank straightens with increasing speed, and what English does is obvious. What multi rail INDUCED English does however, is not, not until you understand it. Like shooting hard from the center of the center pocket to just beyond the tit on the cross side pocket and making the ball, two rails, in the other side pocket, a goofing around shot i practice sometimes. It's not of any use that I could think of, but it looks cool. If you (or whomever) want to see what happens REALLY obviously, go look at the Venom vid where he took the rail cloth off, it is absolutely nuts. It almost looks like physics is being violated (it's not, but what happens is extreme to the point of comedy) and he does some trick shots (he's Venom, after all) that you would SWEAR have no chance of working, and then they do. Like I wouldn't be surprised at all if he could shoot that shot I was talking about a diamond or more from the side pocket and make it, two rails. Second and third rail banks, especially when picking up running English in each case, the acceleration of the subsequent cushions is just plain crazy.

Your example doesn't work Mark. If you calculate the angular error on missing a field goad by one inch at 35 yards, I suspect it is easily within the allowance for 90% of the pool shots out there, almost certainly on the pocketing side alone. What??? Jeremy Jones isn't commentating this? :-/ I'm really looking forward to seeing him play. If he plays anything like he commentates this should be great (obviously he does, given the intro). Definitely one of my favorite commentators out there, I have learned so much from his prediction/analysis commenting. I like Danny, too, with Encarda. Danny comes up with at least one hilarious quip every match (usually two or three) and it's funniest when it breaks Encarda up to the point where you can hear him laughing 'off mic' to the point where he can't say anything for a short while (I've heard it go North of 15 seconds). At other times they sound like an old married couple. Great stuff, AND some excellent analysis. Another one I like is Skyler Woodward, the few times I've heard him, and other pros like Scott Frost. The are just FULL of great info (big surprise, huh) that they readily share. Gold for the whole pool community. "Three point must system"...best wording I've heard yet for that stupid rule (again, why not just stationary radar the breaking ball, show it like the clock, and put a lower limit? Seems like a much better rule for breaking speed, actually MEASURING the breaking speed. Man, you really get a feel for the skidding problem in that view of the rock at 4:38. Put that mark between the balls and you can do things that look impossible (but aren't, physics wise). If you want to see something that REALLY looks impossible, look at some of Venom's current 'sans cloth on the rails' shots, they are NUTS! Multiply rail induced action by about 10X and some downright weird stuff happens, especially high velocity action. I guarantee you will be entertained. Using that to accomplish the trick shots that that master does is almost just icing. His no rails at all stuff is funny. Dude is something else, on the artistic side, and obviously has no problem traveling way outside the box, even to the point of disappearing the constraints of it altogether. :-) I got a kick out of the guys in the back clapping as proxies for the Shane match, since they weren't even watching it. "Someone coughed" so he stands up and looks at his tip. That's some pretty serious politeness there. "You'd have to invent something to go wrong here". Yeah, my specialty, unfortunately. I've not seen that where somebody stopped the ref moving the rack" I think I did once, and it was SVB, don't remember where.

As long as the player is "addressing" the cue ball, it is not a foul when the timer goes to 00. If the player gets off the shot or starts looking around, then it's a foul.

Definitely two balls came to and through the kitchen. The only question is whether the final ball crossed, reached or was short of the balk line. In some tournaments, they play just to reach the balk line with the leading edge. I honestly can’t remember how this tourney was played. Too many tournaments :)

@1:29:07 not sure why he had to use right hand English?? These announcers don’t have experience or knowledge? Maybe he needed more angle so he threw the object ball with spin to get more angle. Also the bottom right pulls the cue ball more towards the right hand side preventing the cue ball from hitting the 8 and landing covered behind the 9 ball…
