U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins rips NFL players for sitting, kneeling during national anthem

Clay Higgins, the coarse congressman from south Louisiana, has a new message for America. In a video on his campaign Facebook page, the Port Barre Republican wears a sleeveless biker shirt and perches on a Harley-Davidson to recall that in his childhood the NFL was "pure and real and bad-ass and patriotic" -- and to condemn what he now sees: "These guy [who] make millions of dollars kneeling or sitting down during our national anthem is sickening to me."

Amen to all Representative Higgins has said. And it goes for MLB and NBA as well as the NFL. When MLB went "woke" and the Seattle Mariners went "woke-on-steroids" I watched my last MLB game at the end of the 2019 season. Have been a fan since 1957 but, as Rep. Higgins says, "Unless and until" they make a full, heart-felt apology, there will be no professional sports of the day for me. They're dead to me, too.

While I was in Vietnam my wife marched in war protests and I backed her completely. It definitely ruined football for me to. No matter what we are going through in life. That flag is a symbol that is supposed to bring us together as one nation. Yet they get to live out the American dream. Seventeen members of my family served this country and one of those beloved people's name is on the Vietnam memorial. So when I saw people disrespecting our flag . That's disrespecting my family . That's disrespecting the brave man and women that paid the sacrifice with their lives so there families can live free and not in tyranny. I'm tired of all the lies and corruption in our government. In 2004, Higgins became a patrol officer for the Opelousas City Police Department. By 2007, Police Chief Perry Gallow was prepared to take major disciplinary action against Higgins. In a letter to the City Council, he wrote, "Clay Higgins used unnecessary force on a subject during the execution of a warrant and later gave false statements during an internal investigation...although he later recanted his story and admitted to striking a suspect in handcuffs and later releasing him". Higgins resigned before disciplinary action could be imposed.
