Makes me smile too because this was a very lazy exercise The 1st Division has been in Combat for almost 20 years strait. There is is no comparison to kit. Training or experience with the SA Forces of the 21st Century as compared to 20th Century. There is no tradition anymore. This is what Ive been told by the men that I worked with while I lived in SA for a Security Firm. But the only people I ever see SA military being used is against it's own people...white people. I hope that doesnt hsppen.

The old SADF was surely brutal, cunning and effective, but let's just be realistic. They'd be much less effective in current day warfare, except for specialized operations such as that of the Recces (which haven't declined at all. The older guys who have went into private military contracting still work with our special forces). Just the tech that the old SADF used in those years would put them at a great disadvantage today. It's 2019, not 1988.

Where was this common exercise together with the SADF during the Bush War when it really counted, when the internationally isolated SADF opposed the members of this very force, with which the U.S. army now does a common exercise? This force, which now caused South Africa to be relegated to junk status by the international rating agencies. Tainted heroes and farmer murders.
