I considered myself an experienced rider, (20 plus years) but it wasn't until last year when i took your course, ride like a pro houston tx when I really started enjoying the rides. I'm not afraid to drop my wife or much worst my bike anymore. I had a really bad situation this past 4th of July. Rear tire blew out on my electra glide ultra while going 75mph fully loaded with camping gear for four days and my wife in the back seat with a semi truck on our tail going 70mph, thank god and your teachings I was able to handle the situaition slowed it down pulled over and called for help. Now from the safety of my home I thank you sir and keep up the good work and if anyone doesn't believe that what you teach saves lifes, they can call me anytime.

Started riding in 1968 your videos in the past year have changed my riding confidence . I use to be afraid of slow turns. Some times they were great, some were disasters.Head and eyes changed that for me. Now I can turn without even taking a deep breath

I'm happy to hear I've helped. At this moment I'm working on an expert witness case where a 30 year old guy slammed into a car that turned left in front of him. He's now a paraplegic. The crash was easily avoidable but he had no idea what to do so he locked the brakes and ran right into the car. So sad. I wish I could help everyone but of course I can't so I'll help everyone I can.

Great video series. I own a Ultra Glide limited. It’s my first Harley, my first big bike. I’ve owned it for about 3 years now, all my other bikes have been metric bikes in the 4 to 5 hundred pound range. When I first got on the Limited, holy crap was that thing intimidating. I taught my wife and son how to ride on a Honda Rebel. Taught them to ride it slow first, basic stuff. I’ve been riding for 35 plus years. I watch your videos and practice in parking lots and quite roads. These big bikes are a whole different animal. But with training and practice, you can really boost your confidence, and have a hell of a lot more fun on them. Always keep in mind your never to old to learn new/ better techniques. Especially if you’ve been doing it wrong for many years. The hard part is to admit to yourself that your not as good as you thought you were. There are so much resources out there today. Watch, learn and practice. Gas is cheap accidents are not. Anyway keep up the great work Brother. Your helping people out here.

This took forever for me to get down. Now matter how hard I looked backward my hands uncontrollably straightened out my bars. Even started making myself do push ups for each failure. I’m sure I looked like a lunatic. Repeat 90 degree pull outs over and over helped it click in my head. For a few years now I’m an expert at it and can knock out L or R u turns from a stop without a thought. All thanks to Jerry and his RLAP team. Your instruction video is what got me on the path!

I love these videos; I have to admit, I still can't do this from full lock (I'm getting there). One of my favorite exercises. No matter how many times I do it my brain thinks the bike will drop but it does not. One of these days it will seem natural. I find these types of exercises have more excitement than riding down the highway.

Thanks for the video. When I first watched it, I said oh No here’s a good way to drop the bike...if you look down and at full lock you are toast. Good tip for non experts to go half way. Right turns are always harder for me. We enjoy all your video’s

I received notification while on parking lot practicing, this time I set cones and was doing 20ft u-turns. It is much harder to be confined inside perimeter but I think it is necessary in order to make progres. Than I tried these u-turns from a stop , I did good but I also made a mistake and dropped the bike, no damage no injury just picked it up and continued , mistakes are part of learning process. Motorman's sence of humor is great, end of video is hilarious...😂😂😂😂 Cheers from 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Hey up! In the UK, our U turns are to the right rather than the left, so everything in this video will be mirrored. The problem I have is that, if I'm holding the foot brake, then I cant lean to the right at stop, otherwise I'd fall over. So, I'm not comfortable setting off at anything more than a gentle turn. Our roads are far narrower too, so I cant make too wide a turn and still pass my test. My instructor says to start straight, then turn, but I'd like to learn to U turn from a stop properly. I'm sure I'll get there with practice.

Jerry ....thanks your tips are helping me still ...25 years on the road biking . In England right now we are seeing a change ...in that city areas are about to charge more for bikes and vehicles over a certain age so for bikes if you have a carburettor you will have to pay the ulez charge of around 15 dollars per day (or every single day you leave your home to ride). This is going to take many of our loved motorcycles off the road . In England the avarage person has less than 600 Dollars in their bank Now that's a very seriously issue ...for all of us into biking . Many thanks for your tips and teaching 😊

This is something that you should practice, even if you're used to doing u-turns regularly. I do a u-turn just about every time I park my bike, but I don't practice them from a stop. The one time I decided I wanted to do a u-turn and I wasn't moving, I wound up dropping the bike because I let myself look at the curb. I should have had plenty of space to do my usual u-turn. Fortunately, there was minimal damage and it was mostly my pride that was hurt.

@@motorman857 It makes a difference, even just practicing the slow races and focusing on putting your head and eyes were you want to go makes an astonishing difference. It's amazing how much less anxiety there is coming into a turn when you know what you're doing. My hope is that you eventually find somebody to start a location here in western Washington. All of your locations are so far away, that I can't afford to get the training. The money for the training appears to be well spent, but the travel costs are a deal breaker to get me and a bike over to one of those locations.

So Cool, You make it look so easy, then when I try it I get anxious and doesn`t look so pretty. Some days I do really well when I`m in a more agreesive riding mood, other days not so good. I found myself in a situation where I felt I had to do a full lock turn to clear obstacles (building, pole, and another pole for an awning). I could have pulled up, backed up, duck walked etcetera , but I felt confident enough to try it. I did and made it, but I would like to know that I can do it every time and anytime I need too! I've only been riding about a year, but have 8500 miles under my belt! Thinking about taking your ride like a pro course. Your about 150 miles north of me.

For right turns, friction zone, then get the foot on the rear brake as soon as the bike starts to move. That shouldn't take but a split second. NO FRONT BRAKE.
