This is the assembly guide for the NR200 Top Hat Mod by /u/zocazola (3DPCbyJay on etsy). I've since upgraded the design so the front/back panels now have the integrated top bezel connections- this means less screws, and less parts! No more bezel-radiator bracket needed.
Etsy link to purchase the components: www.etsy.com/l...
Thingiverse link for all the parts to 3D Print for free:

Thanks for watching!
Will add timestamps later!

this will blow someone's mind: you can switch the top and bottom panel (and also front IO) and make a reverse case with enough space for the AIO rad + fans at the "new" top !!!

I'll bear this in mind for when I upgrade from an FDM to a Resin (SLA) printer - I think long parts like that don't lend themselves well to FDM printing, and resin will produce a much cleaner finish. Kudos for the design though - I can imagine the amount of work you put in to this.

Good luck!! Post results when you have them, interested to see the finish. SLA both messier and more expensive pound for pound It'll produce a cleaner finish but I personally get a headache everytime I use SLA.

This is a neat design, but I feel like there is a huge flaw that isn't addressed. The PSU fan is venting into your radiator fan. Which means, you're either exhausting back into the PSU or your pulling hot air from the PSU into your radiator.

Since you didn’t show how the top of the case is looking from inside, could you please tell me if a crossflow 240mm Rad is possible with your mod, so how is the accessibility of the ports or can you just mount the fans up top and the rad below them?

Interesting mod, good job, I was going to say it would look way better smoothed out but I see that was brought up. I would consider doing this if it at all improved cooling. was there a noticeable difference?
@jayleo3dpcbyjay976
@jayleo3dpcbyjay976 3 жыл бұрын
I'll experiment with smoothing out but that'll take some time. I've seen some people use wood filler or photoresin with baby powder to smooth out the layer lines, but that takes a lot more post processing.

The design of these 3D-printet parts really seem a bit undone. You know where the radiator 2x120 holes will be located, because the brackets in the bottom decides that for you. Then the top brackets for the bezel shouldn't even need to have adjustable holes in them, as the position of those brackets really should be fixed toward the radiator 2x120 holes. Ah well. You only get so much for free i suppose 😉 It's a neat mod, however I think there is way too much adjustability built into the parts making a "perfect" fit very hard to achieve because everything is more or less floating in those holes. Some filler and paint would do good for the printed parts 👍 Good level of detail in the video. I have a bit of a hard time understanding the idea with this mod? Is it a very complicated way of making sure you don't have air in your pump of the AIO, if you do vertical GPU with rad in the bottom? Sorry maybe I didn't pay too much attention in the intro.. I'll probably look into a vertical liquid cooled GPU with a thick bottom mounted rad maybe in push pull with slim fans along with a CPU-block/pump/res combo from Barrow or the like. Hopefully it's possible to gain enough cooling potential with that single rad configuration. Naturally that's a different price point entirely from this.
@jayleo3dpcbyjay976
@jayleo3dpcbyjay976 3 жыл бұрын
thanks for the incredibly detailed comment. 1) the position of those brackets really should be fixed toward the radiator 2x120 holes. I agree- it should be fixed if all radiators had the same exact width/length and inlet/outlet tubing positioning. But alas, they are different by model/manufacturer, so I must let there be adjustability especially if I want the mod to be compatible with other radiators than my own. 2) Some filler and paint would do good for the printed parts 👍 I agree! I am experimenting with this but these post-processing steps are messy (and i don't have a proper sanding/painting setup just yet) 3) I have a bit of a hard time understanding the idea with this mod? Is it a very complicated way of making sure you don't have air in your pump of the AIO, if you do vertical CPU with rad in the bottom? Yes! This mod gives any NR200 the ability to top-mount a radiator to maximize your radiator's performance and lifetime-- and open up your side panel to show off your components. You could bottom mount the radiator and vertical mount your gpu but many people believe this damages the lifetime of your pump because it is now at the top of your loop in the pump block, where air accumulates over time. Note this is more critical for All-in-One CLC liquid coolers, but less of an issue in custom loops where you can check and remove air. Hope this answers your questions
@cunt5413
@cunt5413 3 жыл бұрын
Bottom mounted AIO is going to kill it. You're making the pump the highest point of the loop thus the air will accumulate there making it both noisy and unreliable also shortening its lifespan. This is the only way to do it if you want to bottom mount your GPU and use a glass side panel to show off the build.
@Maddesen
@Maddesen 3 жыл бұрын
@@cunt5413 agreed. If that's the preferred configuration, then I'd look for another case entirely.
@cunt5413
@cunt5413 3 жыл бұрын
@@Maddesen yeah, that would be optimal. But there's quite a limited selection of ITX cases in my country and the best ones tend to be backorder only, really expensive and the shipping would make it insanely expensive for me. This case is the best ITX chassis for the money in my area. And since I have access to a 3D printer and I've always wanted to get the NZXT Kraken with its infinity mirror this is just the thing for me. It's good that CoolerMaster seems to listen to community feedback on Reddit's SFF board and when they refresh the case it's likely they'll allow for a top mounted rad. You can also do an inverted mod which requires permanent changes to the case but keeps the stock dimensions. But you have to mount the GPU vertically so I couldn't use the glass panel and see the AIO plus I don't like the idea of the case being on my left hand side. Anyway I'll be doing this mod next weekend when all my parts arrive so I hope it'll turn out fine.
