When I was 21 I was diagnosed with cancer. When I left the doctor's office after receiving the news, this song was the first thing that started playing on the car stereo. I decided I could take it as either a cruel joke or a rallying cry. That was nine years ago yesterday. This song still brings tears to my eyes. I love this band.

His voice, maturity, the way he speaks about his beloved wife. His wisdom, poetic language, the way he paints the picture about life that is nearing to an end. Damn, what a beautiful human being he is! Dear Bono, we’re lucky, because through your eyes we can see more. Through your inner voice we can hear more and through your heart we can understand invisible world that surrounds us. Ps I wish one day I will take my whole family to see U2 live! 🔥

msglimmertwin52 I love the part from 2:48 to 3:46! 😍 It’s especially meaningful and powerful (for me, personally) in the wake of the Trump administration. “There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He's told us not to blow it Cause he knows it's all worthwhile” David Bowie’s lyrics here are said to be about a boy who’s hearing a message of hope meant for Earth's youth (through a radio), from an alien referenced as “Starman”. Still, regardless of party, Earth is going through some rough times. Earth isn’t ready for extraterrestrial or more international communication, but we shouldn’t blow our chances, because we’ve got something going for us. :)

This song means a lot of different things to a lot of people. It's so inspirational. To me, and for when it came out. It was like a rallying cry for this country after 9/11. Wat a coincidence that this was written before it but it really exploded into mainstream radio after it. The music, the words, n the video gives you a real perspective of wats it like to live here in America. To enjoy wat have. To wat we use to have 20yrs ago. Unity, patriotism, appreciation for the men/women of every color/race, who have sacrificed their lives for wat a lot of us take for granted. This is a hell of a song from one of the greatest bands in the world. Thank You for U2.
