Gone was the old, hated regime and America was looking up for the first time in years. For a moment, it seemed anything was possible and that moment of inspiration and hope should never be forgotten.
@AlekWheeler10 жыл бұрын
***** Okay listen here you little shit! First of all, I have never watched American Idol. Ever. Second of all, Obama may be many things but the one thing he is not is communist. Think about it (without hurting yourself if you can), if he really was Communist, why have elections? Why run the risk of losing what he has. On top of that he hasn't even done anything remotely communist. Advocating for public health insurence? Raising taxes to 38% for the top bracket? Allowing an opposition? He's not a magnificent president, granted, but he's far from the worst. And no, I don't think watching an inauguration ceremony was the biggest mistake of my life. If you think you're living under either a socialist or Communist president right now, you need to wake up. Just as an example, in the U.K. in the 60's a real socialist party put a 95% tax rate on the top 1%. That's socialism; Obama isn't. I understand your frustration and anger however; if I still had to flip on a TV and buy my music, I'd be pissed too.

I'm amazed that so many people never got that this was an anthem to Dr. King and the civil rights movement, same with Sunday Bloody Sunday, does nobody listen to the lyrics?Ironic it takes a mixed Catholic-Protestant Irish Band to not only write great songs but songs with lyrics about injustice, tolerance and gratitude with more real Christian values than all the phony "Christian Rock" bands put together. The Irish have been discriminated against for hundreds of years, I'm not trying to compare their suffering with Black slavery in the US but it's easy to see why the Irish empathize so much.

1 w when we first came to America via Ellis Island. There were signs on doors on public places ie: stores, restaurants. Just like “no colored allowed “ before ” no Irish or Catholic “ allowed. All Irish today know this, no way as horrific as slavery but being Irish and Catholic they were shunned, no work and starving. The Potato famine . Most Irish men especially went into law enforcement and fire departments , cheap labor. My family born and raised in Dorchester, many generations of firefighters including today’s. Even Bono pointed out Biden, after Obama of course because Biden is Irish Catholic American. Biden, if elected president, he will be the second ever Irish Catholic US president to serve. For me I still pray for a miracle and vote for a Jewish American to be president
