Maybe U2 should do a album of covers. This was pretty good.

as old as Bono is his voice doesn't change with age

I think it almost sounds completely different than in the 80s for example. But he still sounds great indeed.
@michaelgriffiths8068 Жыл бұрын
It’s basically his talk/singing voice he’s had since 1997 (Pop). He had a richer voice in 1995 (Passengers) and prior. But even his voice on Zooropa (1993) had already begun to shift away from the operatic singing he was able to do on 1991’s Achtung Baby (Wild Horses, for example), which is something he would employ through most of the studio songs on 1988’s Rattle & Hum and prior albums.
@Josh77600 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgriffiths8068 After the Lovetown Tour, his voice took a major beating. His difficulties were most noticeable during Popmart, as they are on Elevation. I would also think that cigarrettes contributed to it in a way, as does aging. he had surgery in 1998. But after that his voice became much better again. Hé did a lot of operatic singing during the vertigo and 360 tour.
@michaelgriffiths8068 Жыл бұрын
@@Josh77600 - Even though he has done more operatic singing again in recent years, the vocal pitch and tonality are totally different to his voice in the mid to late 80s. That “golden pure” voice he had when he used to sing from the belly (for lack of a better term), not from the throat as he does now. As I say, he still was able to hit that in various places on Achtung Baby (the, “I remember when we could sleep on stonessss…” in ‘Ultraviolet’, for example). When he sang those lines on the 360 tour, the notes might have been the same, but not the gust or the soul. Something has been stripped away. The surface still remains however, so it still works for him, and he is able to adapt. He still can raise the hair on the back of the neck occasionally (the piano version of ‘Every Breaking Wave’ during the European Music MTV Awards, for example).

@@michaelgriffiths8068 I like how you describe that. And i understand what you mean! Has never been the same indeed. What’s your favourite tour/performance?

@@markedwards4160 Hmm, doesn't look like any Turner guitars I'm seeing but thanks for the tip. The shape of the bridge is different and I think the headstock logo runs the other direction like a Takemine. Just occurred to me that this might belong to BBC studio and not Edge.

No he’s not ya clown. His voice isn’t what it used to be, I agree with that, and it wasn’t very adventurous (as a result of his age - he played it safe) but he wasn’t singing out of tune
