Lyrics:
I was chasing down the days of fear
Chasing down a dream before it disappeared
I was aching to be somewhere near,
Your voice was all I heard
I was shaking from a storm in me,
Haunted by the spectres that we had to see
Yeah I wanted to be the melody,
Above the noise, above the hurt.
I was young
Not dumb
Just wishing to be blinded
By you
Brand new
And we were pilgrims on our way
I woke up at the moment when the miracle occurred
Heard a song that made some sense out of the world
Everything I ever lost, now has been returned
In the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard.
We got language so we can’t communicate
Religion so I can love and hate
Music so I can exaggerate my pain, and give it a name
I was young
Not dumb
Just wishing to be blinded
By you
Brand new
And we were pilgrims on our way
I woke up at the moment when the miracle occurred
Heard a song that made some sense out of the world
Everything I ever lost, now has been returned
In the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard.
We can hear you
We can hear you
We can hear you
I woke up at the moment when the miracle occurred
I get so many things I don’t deserve
All the stolen voices will someday be returned
The most beautiful sound I’d ever heard
Your voices will be heard
Your voices will be heard

Rest in Peace Joey Ramone. True story, When Joey Ramone was lying on his deathbed, he was listening to "In a little while" by U2. That happens to be one of my favorites. It's definitely a teargerker once you hear it.

Officially an underrated song on an underrated album. It's a shame Songs of Innocence was talked about only for the method in which it was released, and not about the (very high) quality music featured within it.

Gooey98 So get over that. The world shouldn't be pushed into a corner (or conformed to dregs) to appease stubborn ignorance or intellectual ineptitude. The fact is you DO know that that's his son. So then what's the problem? After all the promo, the explaining the description of their theme, intention and statement it should be clear that Larry is embracing his son. Anyone who claims to be 'jolted' or whatever over this should examine themselves.
@charlimark1964
@charlimark1964 9 жыл бұрын
Gooey98 A man embraces his child. The man embracing his child has a tattoo displayed on his shoulder. That tattoo symbolizes the protection of innocence. This picture depicts protection of innocence. The theme of U2's latest album is about innocence. The title of U2's latest album is called Songs Of Innocence. The *father* in this picture happens to be Larry Mullen Jr...who happens to be of said band U2. This U2 member and father....got this tattoo not a month ago, not a temporary stick on for effect or for the picture. He got this tattoo 18 years ago while said child was still in utero. Now either Larry is a really 'long range planner', or a prophet or he's just simply living his life. What is "creepy", and should be creepy to anyone who is endowed with decency and humanity, and who haven't lost the use of their faculty and their heart, is to watch or hear something so beautiful and so profound be turned into something described as "creepy" or whatever. If a person can't 'go there' with this subject matter (of love, innocence and protection of innocence...which is a part of parental nurturing) for what it is, and the accompanying imagery for what it also is, and be safe..is what makes a very sad commentary. Chilling, despicable and very "creepy" commentary. Perhaps people should take a look at that, instead of trying to degrade innocence. Larry is innocent. His son is innocent. U2 are innocent. Their statement is innocent. Songs Of Innocence.

Why is it that some bands from the 80s and 90s are now on the beer festival circuit but other acts like U2, Tom Petty & The Heart Breakers, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam keep going strong? Someone told me that it was weird to listen to U2 because it's a band of the 70's-80's and that I'm 13 so I told them that they are still an amazing even after 40 years together and that their weird pop singers will be "has been" in 40 years!!!

lucille guillebaud You can be weird for listen the 60's-70's-80's-90's music, but they are stupid. This kind of people are only another brick in the wall.

lucille guillebaud who cares what those people say. those people probably think that top 40 music is all that there is. keep exploring and enjoy what u like. it might be underground punk. don't let anybody dictate what kind of music u listen to.

I actually like their album. I was surprised that it was actually in my library on my new first iphone i got month ago. My car radio is not working and I needed something to keep me awake while driving in traffic to work. I can say that their album saved me from getting into car accidents on my way to work or home when there is traffic. And now im listening to their album at home when im reading or playing game.

I know it's been years since it happened, but I still find it hilarious that people got upset over free music being put on their phone. I hate to break it to you all, but if that upsets you so much then you should probably just delete everything off your phone, throw it in the garbage, and then never buy another cell phone ever again. I guarantee you there are people out there using your information and your phone to do things a lot worse than just giving you free music.

Likely the best part to me is the way the song is generally written in minor (sad) chords and yet it manages to achieves a more uplifting sound than most other music can possibly generate. And usually I'm a hater on electric guitars (I have a strong cello & piano background). I could go on about electric guitars, but that isn't the point. U2, well done you've created a miracle.

+Kevin Joy Not true, U2 was once a massive band they haven't always done what they're doing they actually have a massive passion for music. Even in the old years they don't want to give it up. They're rich enough that I'm sure it's not about money.

+Kevin Joy Europe? The fuck are you on about? U2 are loved and famous world wide, and going by your tone, I'm guessing you're a Yank, and coincidently enough, that was the country that actually made them what they are...the greatest band in the last 3 decades and still going strong. There's no other group on the planet that can claim that. Not even The Stones.

+Kevin Joy they're pretty relevant here in the U.S. They gave an awesome performance at the 2014 Oscars and have been on Jimmy Fallon, who loves them, and among other appearances. I'm not sure you can say they aren't too relevant in the U.S. if you're Canadian. I'm in Texas, so I'd have a better idea(not meaning to sound like a pompous Texan).

Every time I listen to U2 it just warms up my heart, bc growing up was a bit of a rough patch for me. Yeah everyone says that and everyone has different lives, but U2 actually taught me how to have affection, how to feel. How to have feelings, to feel sadness, happiness and love. Everyone does use music to escape from reality but I use music to actually teach, bc sometimes the lyrics will show an important part of history. Even the music video might show something too, my friends think that this band is "old people music" or tasteless. But I believe any kind of music, depending on the person, can have taste. It's kind of hard to explain, still I love U2 and I love this band.

In the early 80's I went to see The Ramones at Rockefellers in Houston. We got backstage and Joey invited us to their hotel room. We went and he was the sweetest human. Their manager came and kicked us out of his room and we were sad but headed to our car. When we were about to get into the car a figure popped up and it was Joey, he pleaded with us to come back and of course we did. We just sat on the beds and drank beer and talked. And I bet no one could guess who he said his favorite band was...? Give up? He said Van Halen!
