nice to see 2 basic land rovers as from the factory without all the off road mods

I didn't realise that lane didn't need a permit - I thought the permit gates were at the Sadgill end. It looks worth doing. My ML320 is too long on the wheelbase at 111" to get a permit. It is too long to do the Sadgill to Kentmere lane as well.

There is a permit gate higher up the trail

At the very beginning of the video you'll see I added NY numbers, these are grid references of the start and end points. Hope it helps! :-)

Can these lanes be driven along with a RRS , or are they to narrow
@nigelsim182 жыл бұрын
Hi John, RRS have driven the lanes around the Lake District over the years, in fact there are some videos on YT of them. The thing to consider is that the RRS is one of the wider vehicles to drive the lanes, so you might pick up a bit of pin striping on lanes that are overgrown, and some gates can be tight. Finally, the Gatescarth permit lane is limited to 100" wheelbase vehicles, so the RRS wouldn't be able to drive that one. Hope this helps!

@@nigelsim18 Thanks for sharing buddy, if you ever head down south especially to Surrey let me know and I will advise on lanes / routes that I've driven and recommend ... it's because of you and your channel that I did 2 lanes up in Cumbria when I decided very very last minute to have a family camp holiday in August (OCR and Grizedale). The scenery currently in Surrey with all the reds, yellows and oranges is so spectacular and the lanes are great! Thanks again Cheers Chris

have u got to apply for a permit to use this lane as it says perment closed apply for a permit to use this lane???
@nigelsim189 жыл бұрын
No, this lane does not require a permit, but you will need to access the lane from where this video ends, unless you have just completed Gatescarth pass.

+nigelsim18 ok thanks going to go up that region soon

Sadly things had changed since then :(.... max 100inch wheel base restriction and permit needed. Worst think tho is even with a permit the Pass will be open only for 3 days in 2018!!!
@northernmonkey99266 жыл бұрын
Why is that? for repairs?
@noidoisiuncaine6 жыл бұрын
No mate, it's just the National Park's decision to ban the motorised access on the pass. Details here: www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/thingstodo/green_roads/green_road_gatescarth
