Kinda wierd that the army is invading Italy when they could attack western France from two directions. You might need to do a naval invasion to take that

Why not try to invade southern Italy that way if you get it army can attack from two side plus will bring Italian navy to you?

Chris, are you using the beta ? If no then a warning they are changing stuff in that beta and it's awkward to play at the moment- 3 main issues are recruitment of sailors is harder, diplomacy does not tell you the cost in advance of the action and the economics have gone wierd plus economics warfare is a real thing where you need cruisers in their dual roles as commerce protection and raiding.

I'm using the version it was on when I started the campaign. Updating to any of the later patches makes the campaign unloadable.
