Sounding insane at the end there. Smoking' playing, and what a great sounding Les Paul.

I'm surprised by this. That RAT was one of the most popular pedals in the 80's. SOO many guitarist used it....including Nuno Bettencourt. But, in this case, I think I prefer the tone without it. It just sounded fizzy to me. Great playing, btw.....very nice!

Hi Phil! Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it! Yes as you said, the Ratt was used by many guitarists of the 80's. It has a unique sound. This video is just about adjustments. More like the cabs of this amp. Maybe I should have used third party IRs. I've used the Ratt in combination with other amps and it sounds totally different. It comes much closer to the sound we like.

Really nice demo! Which UAD interface did you use? Also, how did you manage to avoid all that electric hum/noise that comes when we play at high gain? I mean, even adding the ProCo Rat it still sounds right!

Hello Carlos! Thanks for your comment! Happy Easter! I'm glad you liked the demo, I use the Apollo 8. Regarding the background noise I don't pay much attention to it obviously if the background noise is not higher than the guitar signal lol! On the other hand, even the real amp makes background noise especially if you put an OD pedal in front of it! Anyway, as you know, Softube's Marshall PLEXI doesn't have a noise gate so if you really want to make everything quiet, you can use a Daw noise gate. Let me know! Thanks again!
@kaduthurler3 жыл бұрын
@@AndreaMaccianti Happy Easter to you too! Yes, I use the noise gate on Friedman amps and for the Plexi I use Logic’s noise gate. Still, I seem to get much more noise than you. Because you can sustain these power chords without the hum appearing together. Maybe I’m doing something wrong EQ-wise?
@AndreaMaccianti3 жыл бұрын
@@kaduthurler Nice Friedman amps, I use them too! More than EQ maybe you exaggerate with the gain of the OD pedal or the amp. If the gain of the amp is already high as a level, the pedal is only to help, many times I also keep the gain level at 0 on the OD pedal. Gain level at 0 and OD level at 10. Try it out You have to experiment a bit with these things. For now, nothing else really comes to mind. Keep in mind that in this video I exasperated just to make it feel like the Plexi sounds with the Raw! I have several videos anyway and others to do maybe you might find something interesting about these products too. I am currently only using plugins. I would love if you subscribe to the channel it is also a push to continue making videos of this type!

@@AndreaMaccianti I know what you mean. But I can see you got the RAT pedal in the Unison slot with the orange gain over 50% in addition to the Marshall. If I try that here I get a nasty level of noise floor and constant hum (even with my Les Paul with humbuckers). You know, the kind of noise level where it would be a problem to record a song with. I’m trying to find solutions to mitigate this. Subscribed, my friend. Will check out your other videos! 👍🏻

@@kaduthurler You think that when I record with Friedman or Suhr amps anyway all those amps that have the noise gate, I never use it. This is in order not to compromise the dynamics. Not good but you should never abuse the noise gate. Especially when you play slow blues-style stuff. So another piece of advice I can give you is to edit your guitar tracks after you've recorded. This thing should always be done. I mean that of cutting the parts especially in the breaks. You will no longer hear any background noise. Yes indeed I exasperated it just for this video but I have never used all that gain in my life lol !!! I thought you needed some advice for when you use the amp stand alone maybe to practice or write. But if you have to register, you have to do that job I told you. Background noise or not :) Anyway, you are welcome on my channel, I have everything divided into Playlists! Let me know!

Sounds Great!! One question....do we need UA interface to use these plugins?? I use a Focusrite 2i2 at the moment, into Reaper. Can I use the Plexi plugin alone through this? Or do I need say the Apollo or UA interface exclusively? Thanks, Eric
@AndreaMaccianti4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric! Thank you for your kind comment and for the question! So these plugins, work only and exclusively with the UAD hardware but if you want, you can also buy them from the site that produces them as in this case for the Marshall that is produced by Softube. Ditto for Friedman, ENGL, Suhr etc produced by Brainworx. Visit their sites also for the price etc. So you can also use them with your Focusrite! Of course, you won't be able to take advantage of the Unison technology that only UAD hardware offers, but I don't think it's a problem. Let me know and for anything, contact me without problems! I hope I was helpful! All my best Andrea

I think one would have to turn off the UAD cab and mic SIM and use some different IR's to get that tone with this amp sim.
