I wish more companies would start emulating just the preamps. With more powerful/tweakable EQs like Pro-Q3 and compressors, I find myself never using channel strips except for the preamp coloring. NoiseAsh did a good job with their Need preamps, I hope they continue with other consoles

Which one of these preamps are better for vocals?

Def the neve , it has the abilty to fatten and warm up the thing , that said the mids on api are also sometime what someone could want , but again the neve imho ... Thks for watching

@@ZozillaThaGreat Thanks a lot. I see different models of Neve strips on the UAD site.Any specific Neve that is better than the rest?

Have you tried any of the Acustica Audio offerings? Would love to hear your opinion on them. So far, I prefer AA Gold (vintage Neve), Sand (SSL) and Pink (API) to their UAD counterparts, but I was always an ITB kinda guy and never had a chance to mix on an analog console, that's why it would be interesting to hear your verdict.

I tried acustica , they're solid sonically but operation was always not super smooth , their eq's are great , preamp also but compressor not so imho ... i prefered UAD and softube when i tried but i will gave them another go , i was kinda biased by the glitch i experienced ....

@@ZozillaThaGreat you should definitely give them another try, they've improved slightly upon the CPU consumption and the overall level of accuracy. Their recent "Snow" plugin, which emulates the Neve Portico series, is very cool I have to say. The Portico MBP is also emulated in their Snow suite and there are already videos on youtube which compare that MBP emulation to a real hardware MBP and the differences are almost non-existant...
@ZozillaThaGreat
@ZozillaThaGreat 3 жыл бұрын
The MBP ? now you got my attention !! Since Core 13 , they have enhanced a lot (for me it was the threshold bewteen usable and not) but still some stuff here and there .A lot of brand offers convo based stuff with smoother operation , they been there since so much time that this should have been adressed by now imho . Cpu hit is another concern but not the main .

@@ZozillaThaGreat I agree, there are still a couple negative points associated with the AA plugins, but overall, I think the tonal qualities now outweigh these inconveniences. As far as CPU is concerned, I've learned to appreciate the freeze track function... here's the MBP video I was referencing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3Ldc4SbabCDeMU As I said before, I'd love to hear your take on their SSL suite, since you seem to have a lot of SSL console experience...

You get AA almost for free now on knobcloud or ebay. Amethyst has nice eq, Ebony some special reverb, but in general comps and channel strip I would not recommend, there are way better plugins. I bought Camel for 39 usd and recently sold it for 45 and two more. I only keep Amethyst for the eq. I am glad I could get rid of them workflow killers.

Great man...new to your channel ! Waiting for more UAD stuff and your video and thoughts about if it's worth it nowadays or not..also I'm interested about satellite's latency in a daw. I mean I know that for tracking, you need an Apollo but I was curious if you can skip that with an M1. Even if you can only track with just a preamp and if it usable or not. Keep it up! Greetings from Greece !

@@ZozillaThaGreat Noooooooo not Windows. You! Zozilla Tha GREAT!!! I can’t believe it. Well I’ll say this, whatever bad life decisions you made in the past, Now is a great time to correct for them. The new M1 Mac’s, even the cheapest Mac Mini, is un-f***ing-believable when compared with my 4 fully loaded Mac Pro cheese graters. And honestly, if you’ve already invested in Universal Audio I/O and Plugins, you owe it to yourself to get one, for a couple of reasons: A) LUNA is free you know, only Mac you know, and All the good stuff is an additional Charge, which you likely know. B) But you should try to think of LUNA not only as a Universal Audio product, but the closest thing to a $100,000 API Vision Console ever. And that’s just where they started. The Full NEVE Console will probably be before January for NAMM. C) You already use Console 1, so you are prime for the Analog Console workflow. D) And you and I are talking because of what SSL just dropped from the clouds. SSL is getting into the arena themselves. API and AMS Neve and others, are more likely to license themselves out to UA, Softube, Waves etc. You got a Softube SSL & SSL SSL already. A Mac Mini get you an API Vision Console today, and a Neve Console tomorrow. E as in Extra) Have you played with Audio Gridder yet? Essentially, you can offload your plug-ins from your DAW to another Computer. If you have any UAD Satellites, you can think of a Mac Mini also as a DSP Satellite for ALL your Other Plugins. Including Acustica. Except for Less Money and Way more processing power. Plus it’s, you know, a computer.
