I recorded a session using this and my band members hated the digital clipping sound that’s like a broken speaker. I mean for me it’s “ok” but it is not usable knowing that I committed on the tracks. I re-recorded all the tracks using NueralDSP Tone King and all of us were happy. Don’t get me wrong I love this plug in, it’s the best sounding for me and super versatile but for majority of the listeners it sounds horrible. I hope UA can update the IR for this one. :’(

i dunno,.,.why some people dont like this fender amp, im using apollo MK2 and using the demo of this thorugh unison,. really blow my mind.. this unison stuff really a game changer.. i even sold my eleven rack for more compact collection of UAD plugin.. even yeah, i know its not cheap. i dont get it when people try to comparison this UAD amp with other amp simulation on market.. ive been using them all, revalver, bias amp2, guitar rig 5, amplitube 4, even S-gear .. n they all sound and feel digital well s- gear i guess the best among other VST,, but this UAD amp cpllection and unison is in another league,, its even have a GUI exclusive just like the original amp, and they've been endorse by the original manufacture... i still dont get it after hearing this beautifull tone and demo, why still someone dont like it..

Okay so I just hit a Checkout on an Apollo x4 because of the hype and I like what I hear in this video. But now I see everyone talking about that clipping, which I can definitely hear. My question is, is this really not normal? My Vox NT15 clips in its cleanest tones and produces a lot of similar tonal qualities to this sim. Do I have a busted tube? LOL

So, it is not only me, everybody is Clipping hard with this plug in. I've tried every possible combination on gain staging... it still clips with the lowest volume, lowest gain, ang guitar volume almost at 1, and I play a low-output guitar. Unless you guys modelled a tweed with a broken speaker cone! :)

I have the same issue. It buzzes and sounds fuzzy. Maybe my gain staging is off, but even when going straight into the amp, it still has artifacts, which sounds pretty bad. Have you gotten any answers from UAD?

I am learning the plug-in now; just played with it and read the manual section on it for 15 minutes, and loaded up different presets within the plug-in to get a feel for it. Try different inputs (2 for mic, 2 inst), switch line/mic. Check how hot your guitar signal is running into the amp. I am using a UA Apollo Twin X (Hi-Z). I am going for a jazzy Grant Green kind of tone and I was able to get there in 15 minutes, without ever seeing the plug-in before. This amp model has a ton of cool stuff going on, but it's just like a real amp...it will sound like fuzz if that's how it is set (and that sounds rad too just in a different genre)..

Are you on the hi/z or line mic setting. I found I can get a cleaner tone when going through the hi/z

Yeah. I hate that I hate this thing. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's def a gain staging problem. The only way I can get the crap out is to turn my guitar's volume knob way down, then it's thin. I've tired many guitars on this too. What's the point in having nice guitars with good pickups if you can't use them? If you have a fix or can point me to a tutorial, please do.

I played a 5E3 once and it completely redefined what I thought an amp could do; I've never forgotten the sound, it was so glassy and rich. The tones showed in this video would leave me pretty disappointed, however, its hard to know how they actually sound in person as opposed to compressed and whatever else on KZbin.

Thing is that a recorded amp will sound a lot different than how you would experience one in a room. This sounds more like a Tweed Deluxe recorded dry.

I have delays and modulation guitar pedals going to my Apollo then I add this plug-in and it’s amazing! I love it I guess it all depends on your set up...

I can hear that nasty 2khz bump all the amp sims have with UAD Hi-Z input. I suspect something is wrong or really cheap/not optimized with their Hi-Z. Those 2khz build up in a mix and you end up fighting with them a lot.

Completely agree. I bought an UAD Apollo Twin based on the hype and was so disappointed with the Amp Sims. The Hi-Z gives me a harsh tone with my Tele, the worst of all interfaces I tried. Even my Zoom H6 sounds better. When I mention that in UAD forums, no one seems to experience that.

Whenever i use the amp sims in unison they sound kinda muddy, running a les paul with seymour duncan jb jazz pickups straight into the high z

all the amp sims are a great option for those to try and if people don't have an amp, this is a great option. for most, there's nothing like your real gear. I can't wait to get this to capture the sound of my equipment in the best way possible. always found amp sims a little eh, but love me some plug in effects, lol

It is a channel strip preset not a plugin preset.

This is exactly my issue with the sim. It sounds like they've built in digital clipping to this simulation--or at very best their's a busted tube in the amp they modeled lol__ unusable

Weird how much hate this plugin is getting... when I mess with the volume on my guitar I get wildly different tones, from crystal clean to really heavy breakup. To my ears it sounds pretty damn good.

@@UniversalAudio Right now I am in a room with four vintage Fender amps. Def do not hate them. There's apparently a gain staging problem, most likely us user's error. Perhaps put out a shot tutorial on how to set up for this sim.

@@billyvalentine4365 I found this online: For Apollo users, I recommend running Tweed Deluxe as a Unison insert on a Hi-Z channel within the Console application if you're tracking through the plug-in. Doing so adjusts the physical impedance of the Apollo's instrument input to emulate the original Tweed's impedance characteristics, resulting in a responsiveness I wouldn't typically associate with virtual amplifiers.

You need an Apollo interface or UAD-2 hardware to run any of our plug-ins, as they are processed via internal DSP, not natively on your computer.

H Mohr this is a far better emulation than the ones in s-gear in my opinion. But s-gear have entirely different and more models so I don't see the relevance in comparing them. If you want a Fender Tweed this is the emulation to get. I personally think that amp sounds terrible so I'm not buying it. Really like the Softube Marshalls and the Brainworx ENGLs however and the feel of playing through the Apollo just can't be beaten. Decided to get rid of S-Gear since I never use it these days. But it's still one of the best for sure!

To my ears, the crackling noise of this emulation isn't tube-like at all. I'm sure playing trough an Apollo is a great experience, but in the end what really matters is how things sounds. I haven't played this amp in real life, so I wouldn't know if the emulation is accurate. Don't get me wrong, I think it sounds good and most people wouldn't know if it is a real amp or an emulation. But in my short sonic experience I think S-Gear sounds more like a real tube amp. Maybe it's just me.

I understand both and irrationally I prefer the Fender Tweed. S Gear is far more flexible and the more it is driven the more it sounds like a "real tube". Better than the Tweed. S Gear has effects that are not its forte. Personally, I rather the clean interface since I think it helps during the music making workflow. As a UAD user, there is something almost mystical about using unison plugins. I'm demoing both right now, let you know in 14 days which one I get.

H Mohr, i own the real thing and the thru to me is that i prefer a lot to play live or in my room with the real amp cause it is very diferent as to play through software and listen thrue monitors an AD converted digital signal (that can´t be emulated). but a recorded track result can´t be distinguished over the emulation. Ideal for tracking.

The Wayfarer in S-Gear sounds pretty damn close to my Mesa/Boogie Mark IV. I haven't tried any UA stuff, but I'll be getting the Apollo twin very soon and the Marshall 59 super lead comes with it, so I'll see how that sounds. So far I haven't found anything that beats S-Gear.

I am a digital Head !! and Jamvox 2 (LOL) kills this shit and actually breaks like an amp to about 80%. Hype is just that HYPE and nothing more. These sound samples sound like shit and plastic and are clipped to high heaven !!!!.Jamvox is 99$ for god's sake's. SGear is still king. Tell you the truth my main live sound is Guitar Rig 2 ( running in a rack PC) with a Firewire interface at 1.2 ms in/ out. Very easy to play with it and the sounds are incredible. There are 2 racks for backup , they both run at the same time, except one does not receive signal until switched over with a foot stomp call.
