You missed an entire floor of the market with many more food options -- one floor down from the main floor there are 38 vendors. Among the options downstairs: * The better sandwich place at the market, Uno Mustachio, which makes a killer breaded veal sandwich. * Eateries that sell Greek, Chinese, Ukranian, Latin American, Japanese and French meals. * Bakeries, a creperie, places that specializes in cavier or sushi, and several bakeries and desert places, as well as a coffee bar and juice bar. There's also a north building that is open this time a year on Sundays with about 20-25 vendors. Kettleman's is an Ottawa institution that branch out from its original location with more locations across that capital city plus in a few other cities like Toronto. As a native New Yorker myself who goes often to Montreal and now lives in Canada, there is no need to toast Montreal bagels so long as you select those that are still hot/warm out of the fire-burning -- which you should always do because they are their best when still hot warm with the best flavor, smells and texture. Always ask what just out of the oven and still warm.

I would eat at a place that chef prepared food with bare hands than one that wear gloves anytime. The number 1 rules in food handling is hand washing. People wear gloves often don't wash hands as often. Mainly because afterer touching all kinda surfaces and they are not aware of how dirty their hands are. Keep this in mind, gloves is not really necessary for food safety. It's more for protecting their hands ( and to make customers feel better). But again, different people have different comfort level. Also, my favorites form St Lawrence is a grill fish sandwich from Busters and a Protugal Tart from the place you got the peameal.

Your reaction to the guy using his bare hands was pretty strange. Chefs use their bare hands all the time and if they wash their hands and there’s nothing wrong with that. Gloves really aren’t that sanitary anyway unless they’re changed constantly. It’s only fairly recently with the younger generations that people started having this expectation that people handling food wear gloves. It’s pretty irrational as there’s nothing inherently unsafe about the practice. Most sushi chefs don’t wear gloves and the food they serve you is uncooked.

@markmortimer91556 күн бұрын
UA I'm a big fan of the channel, but you dropped a bollock or two on this video. 1. You kind of helped a perception of Americans with your 'they celebrate Halloween in Canada too not just America' fun fact it's celebrated all over the world and to blow your mind more it's also on the 31st of October. 2. When you went to Paddingtons and seemed "blind" sided by the big sign that said cash only. Then in again what can only be the deemed as the most American thing an American can do, was to ask if they accept US dollars? They did of course at a 20% charge (they will face a fee when transferring the money back to Canadian dollars). However first off why would you not have local currency in your wallet just in case? Other than airports if you asked that question in the UK you'd pretty much be greeted with a no. I felt in my opinion it was insulting to ask that question. 3. The no gloves thing. I've read a lot of the comments and I can see why it's annoyed people with how you handled it. It goes without saying that anyone touching food will be expected yo regularly wash their hands. Your decision not to eat the food was based on your flight home the next day and not wanting to get ill due to the food being handled with bare hands. Have you ever asked someone handling your food with gloves to see the box to check what products are in said gloves that could also maybe have an impact to your health? I'm with a lot of people that this video was infuriating on so many levels. Just my opinion and will be back for the next one. Have a nice weekend.

At paddingtons, you can get additional toppings like onions and marmalade which i think really enhance the sandwich so i prefer their peameal sandwich more.

Interesting to see a more "regular" day on the ground. Another good video! How are you deciding on the destination videos? Have any other places planned? I'm voting for Austin! Get some of that brisket and migas tacos!

Fun fact! Black squirrels are found in several areas of the U.S. Where I am in Colorado, we have Abert's squirrels and melanistic black fox squirrels. You can also find them all over Princeton, New Jersey.

Glad you are enjoying yourself in Canada. We Canadians are proud of our Montreal Style bagels, back bacon on a bun, and poutine, and Canadian whiskey. And Pemmican, which is not as well known. And of course our ice hockey. Have a safe trip home and come back to Canada anytime.

Peameal bacon on a bun was a staple at my hockey rink when I was a kid. During tournaments or games on the weekend, they'd set up a huge grill and barbecue endless pounds of it.

Nice review and u still have centre street deli best smoked meat in Toronto, if you want to get a taste of that Montreal Smoked Meat Center, Street is the place to go. Aside from that I think you covered a lot of good stuff in Toronto . Best burger at burger drops, Rosie’s

UA thanks for coming to Toronto you are the man! A lot of the best foods are located in the outskirts of the city. You can check out North America's largest Chinese Mall in Markham called Pacific Mall with a really cool food court. Markham has hands down the best Chinese food in Ontario. Scarborough is another incredible area for food better prices too and has very unique foods you might have never seen before.

The guy who made your breakfast sandwich put it together with his bare hands but you ate that.

I commented this before I saw your written commentary admitting as much in the video but my point still stands. If you are that concerned about food being prepared with bare hands you probably can’t eat out.

Gloves actually carry more germs because people overuse them and don’t wash them. Bare hands in the kitchen aren’t my issue-it’s when people are touching their phones, face, nose, or other unhygienic things. That’s when I call it out and complain.
@uaeats7 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right. Gloves are not this super clean invincibility shield. But usually at these fast casual and takeout spots, when people assemble ready-to-eat food they put on a fresh pair of gloves. In NYC even tamale ladies selling food out of shopping carts do that. Agreed, if the gloves are already on who knows how long they've been on and that's not much better.

Just started following you. I’m from Toronto. Have you ever had the famous Veal Sandwich in Toronto. Place is called California Sandwiches. On Clinton st in little Italy. Best veal sandwich for over 50 years. My favorite is Veal sandwich with the works. Cheese hot peppers and onions. Mouthwatering. If you haven’t been there then next time perhaps. You won’t be disappointed

You should come back to Toronto! There’s so much more to see and eat. Toronto is an interesting place because, honestly, a lot of the food here is mid-tier and underwhelming. The city doesn’t have many OG original foods either (peameal bacon sandwiches are one, but even then, they’re not as widespread here as something like pork rolls or pizza slices in the U.S.; it should be in every store here as a quick food option). There are lots of adopted foods here; which is fine. I’m surprised you didn’t check out Kensington Market! It’s right next to downtown and is a foodie mecca with tons of interesting options. It’s also a unique spot-there’s really nothing else like it in North America. Overall, Toronto definitely needs more than one visit. For example, Scarborough, an eastern borough, is a whole food adventure in itself. You can find literally any type of cuisine there, from just about any country, and there are hidden gems serving top-tier ethnic food. The suburbs north and northwest of the city also have amazing options, with heavy Latino, Spanish, South Asian, and East and SE Asian choices.

If you're drinking a really high-end coffee what you want to do is use skim milk this way you get the sweetness without overpowering the flavor of the coffee

On you next trip back give a place called 'California Sandwiches ' a go . Excellent Breaded Veal sandwiches served thick and on crusty fresh kaiser buns. You can order it Sweet Medium or hot, a very established Italien eatery chain in Toronto.

Harriet and I are big foodies, we have been to Toronto many times. Have always enjoyed the food there. However, we think that the bagels in Montreal are better, two places in particular Fairmount Bagel and St-Viateur Bagel and also the smoked meats , Schwartz Deli and Jarry Smoked Meat. But the diversity of food choices are far better in Toronto. Great Video! Your Thoughts ? All the best 👍👍 UA from Jim and Harriet Richmond, Va.

Hi UA! Nice video as always, wanna say a positive, glad you are giving some special coffee places a try, not sure if Jimmy's is a third wave/special coffee. Just wanna say though if do go to more specialty coffee places, really give drinking it black/American style first, most of those places you add milk yourself so for sure just give a sip plain and taste the flavor profiles. You will taste these textures that are explain as things like "Cherry" or "Almond" for example and you will feel the flavor profile it is very amazing, especially if a place explains their blend/beans as acidic or more bitter etc. Anyway if you give anymore a try in NYC or any other place you may be I recommended trying it black first! Also if a place is claiming to be very authentic to Italian espresso or at least claims to have their espresso game down for sure give a latte a try or cappuccino or even a shot of espresso a try, do not think it's gonna be like a chain place it will be well crafted at most small/small franchise coffee joints. Anyway enjoyed your video, I'm American with a Canadian-British grandma so it is nice to have some love towards Canada's food scene! Anyway gonna watch your cracker-barrel video now 😄 !
