unpopular opinion but developing pedals that utilise apps and bluetooth isn't making the equipment future proof. My TS9 still works because there isn't a developer constantly updating its firmware or shutting down so that feature becomes useless.

Taylor, that text on the box is referred to as "Lorem ipsum" and it's just gibberish . You use it as a placeholder for a block of text that you'll later fill with copy. It makes it easier to design a website (or in this case a box) if you know where the text is going to be.

For the asking price of $400 for a digital pedal featuring only one amp model like this one, I would expect it to have a small screen with multifunctional knobs (like new Zoom pedals, Line 6, or Boss ir-200, for instance), instead of these flimsy switches, where you can access every single feature directly on the pedal itself and without me having to worry about downloading and installing any additional apps either on my phone or computer. Also, at this price, I expect such a pedal to be able to take a USB flash drive to either load an IR or update firmware from it, again, without me having to plug it into a computer or phone. Finally, what will we do if UA goes out of business someday and their app or drivers are no longer compatible with the newer operating systems? This app dependency is not future-proof and quickly makes the product obsolete. And, to me, this pedal was already outdated in many ways on the day it was released, which was as recent as yesterday. All of this would have probably been okay if it had been some cheap Chinese knockoff, but for $400, I don't feel like I'm getting enough value or features given the competition.

I'm sure China's slaves are making a rip off version for you as we speak. In fact I'm pretry sure a Chinaman just got whipped for slacking on his factory assembly line job. Sleep well.
@fattohead2 ай бұрын
I have the anti version and believe me all that screens and touch buttons etc. etc... makes you feel you're just using another kind of processor. As a user what I feel and experince during my usage of this pedal is, you feel you use just an old school analog pedal. And that's what I liked about. I don't want to go aroud the menus, folders etc. The six knobs on the pedal are the most used knobs on any amp. So far, I'm really happy with the experience I've had, both tonewise and usability. If you're not that kind of player thats OK. But I'm at the age when we were using real amps and real pedals, so this UA pedals makes sense for players like us
@realtruenorth2 ай бұрын
@@niceride777 completely disagree with you. I hate the look and added expense of a screen. If they went that route and also made it in China. I wouldn't have purchased. Period. They know who is buying this and they nailed our wishlist. They nailed this pedal and I wouldn't change a thing. Including the price tag. But, I don't like supporting China made (slave made) products. You are literally supporting an enemy to many free countries. Why? Do you only care about yourself? Invest in U.S. made and the dollar will get stronger which will counter inflation, plus you get a better quality product. I have a real actual 90s dual rec so I can speak on this.

Something about this one is NOT doing it for me. Dual Rectifier emulations are all over the place in terms of sound quality. It's crazy to see how different the many digital interpretations of Rectos in particular sound. Some of them sound REALLY scooped and fizzy which is honestly not how the real deal sounds. The modern channels are very mid-forward usually with a crisp top end that peaks around 5-6khz. They also don't have as much gain as a lot of people think. I personally found the ones that are the closest to be the LePou plugin from YEARS ago, Amplitube 5, and the brainworx one. I will add that I use the UAFX Lion with the built-in IRs as the core of my live sound and love it.
@dancukar25913 ай бұрын
can this be used like a normal stomp box on your pedal board?
@flybywire72843 ай бұрын
This pedal sounds awful. Like a noob took a Recto with leaking caps and shot tubes, dialled it in for maximum boom/mush and turned the treble and presence and gain to 10 and then hit it with a boost to make it sound as bad as possible and then they modelled it using tech that they bought from Digitech in 2005. It sounds nothing like a Rectifier apart from the ability to turn it into fizzy, undefined mush like you can with the real amp should you choose to. In contrast, the real thing can sound benchmark good and with some simple turning of knobs and a TS9 or SD1, it generally sounds fantastic. Go listen to Mesa’s channel where they demo the Multiwatt. It sounds fantastic. My personal Multiwatt also sounds fantastic. It’s like UA is trolling people at this point.

$399? They have to get their pricing down. I get it, they need to make a profit and pay for the tech and R&D but still... If I'm going to spend $400 I'm going to put that money towards buying an actual amp. And let's face it, these pedals will be used on GC's website in a year or two for $250-300. Besides, $400 gets you a Tonex pedal with access to Tonenet and 1000s of incredible captures including the dual rectifier. Ok, so the POWER AMP setting are kind of a give away as to why this sounds ‘not so good’ Lows are 3/4 the way up, Treble is pretty high, mids are 1 o’clock. I’m 99% sure it didn’t sound THIS a bad to him (maybe) in the room with those settings …however… I’ve played through (and owned a lot of) almost all the Rectos over the years (starting in 1994) and yeah, these settings aren’t doing the sound any favors. For what it’s worth, I’d imagine recording straight from the pedal into his/your DAW would yield a much better - more accurate representation of a Dual Rec. Not running it into a 4X12 with a solid state amp, live like this. Just my opinion.

It was somewhat interesting upon their initial launch of classic amps a few years ago, now it’s already become lame. Especially with the last few high gain options, you know it’s going to sound like garbage compared to the amp and nearly indisgusihable from each other between this and the 5150 pedal.
