Another thing to keep in mind is that those 2-stroke engines are NOT easy to keep together. The Seay family have been racing AMAZING 2-stroke open engines for three decades, starting with sprint kart/asphalt racing. They have their package so tight and Evan drives the package so well that it's hard to tell that an open, 2-stroke engine is a rolling grenade. The way they have Evan's engines tuned to load fuel in the corners is amazing - every time I watch a race online I wonder how they manage to do that w/o him having to briefly choke the carb (which is how they used to keep the opens from blowing up back in "the day").

Seay definitely has it set on kill for the most part. Although a new oil and coating has proved to make pistons last longer. My 270bama requires a big of maintenance but is super reliable.

I run open small block with no weight requirements so my kart with me in it race ready is 312 pounds. It's a handful to say the least but a blast to drive. Thanks for the videos. Much appreciated 👍

Very cool video Ben. I guess we fall into the " high hp nut jobs". Thanks for the photo shot by the way. I think there was only a couple of us at the nationals with a JAWA. Keep the videos coming. God Bless

I feel you, I have a Sudam but I am a big guy. I weigh 425. It is a Bueller 131cc and I struggle with forward bite. I would like a Bama I am not sure how much fuel it will burn for 20 laps on a 1/4mile oval?
@kart6t3_ben2 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly it’s about the same. The air cooled needs the extra fuel to cool the engine. Because the bama is water cooled it doesn’t need that fuel for that purpose but is bigger displacement using more then a 131. I carry about 2.75 gallons on board and have never even come close to running out. I also run on a big 1/4 mile and maybe use 1/4 tank under normal conditions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4KUhml-ab6Ah9E

What feel do you like ? Do you like feeling like the karts in the track or like the kart is on top of the track? I’m probably interpreting this the wrong way but I like when it feels like the karts in the track and digging, when I have my tires right and the tracks good on my stock appearing that I. The track feeling is the best, however if I miss tires and the track is dry and kinda dusty I feel like I’m on top of the track and have to wait forever to use the little power I have?
@kart6t3_ben2 жыл бұрын
Being I weigh as much as I do in my kart I’m use to being in the track. But being free and ontop can be quicker as long as you have good drive off.
