Russian fleet lost another ship. Again

Russian attempts to block the exit of ships from the Black Sea continue to fail. This is good news both for Ukrainian exports and for the countries on the other side that depend on them. Ukrainian partners at the Ramstein meeting devoted a lot of time to the delivery of air defence systems and also focused on priority requests. Russia is waging a hybrid war against European countries.

I think the US is up to something they can get away with, like building an electronics upgrade that will fit on a Ukraine missile, made in USA but with Ukraine's name on it at the chip level. We can do shit like that and get away with it, but anything coming out of our muzzles will have Made in USA written all over it. If we so much as put a hand grenade over the Russian border, it's seen as *the* NATO nation attacking, and all Hell breaks loose. But an S-200? Something else with a Cyrillic name I don't know? There’s a tradition in the US military that you learn about early in your career. It’s called steering the ensign in the Navy. That’s when you distract the ensign so the chief can do something that is questionable as far as regulations go. Congress said not to use American weapons in Russia. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Secretary of Defense said in August last year that wars don’t obey borders. They were signaling that they were going to distract the Congress if Ukraine targets troop concentrations and stockpiles in Russia. A drone strike and an ATACMS strike look the same to a member of Congress. Just don’t go joyriding in Red Square in a Bradley. They might catch on if you do that.

You have that backwards. The American Administration is the one micromanaging Ukraine's use of US weapons. The legislature (the Congress) is telling the Administration to let Ukraine use their own judgment in the use of weapons.

Biden is maliciously complying with what the Congress told him before this point, so they have to “force” him to take the stance the Secretary and Chairman voiced last year. You’re seeing a game of “steer the ensign” at the highest levels of government. Biden is making the Congress authorize him to order what the Secretary and Chairman already said to do in a manner subtle enough that Congress wouldn’t catch on. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelensky was in on it, right along with Macron. The Secretary and the Chairman already said “missiles are fine, just don’t send tanks into Russia” without actually saying it last year. Maybe it’s a language barrier issue that no one seemed to catch what was and wasn’t being said blatantly. English is a rough language to understand completely and American English is even worse. When they both said “wars don’t obey borders”, they were saying “why should Ukraine?”

How many UK supplied Stromshadows, Challenger II Tanks, AS 90 155mm howitzers, etc etc have been used against targets across the border into Russia so far? Politicians can say one thing in public and something very different in secret. Nations can claim they have a problem with one thing when in reality their problem stems from something entirely different, like a failure to mobilize enough troops when they should have been. The average age of the Ukrainian soldier is 43 now. Many of these soldiers have been in combat for as long as 2 years with no rotation home. One has to wonder about their morale.
