Watching Americans make a big deal about manually changing gears is hilarious..
@FordMaverickFanatic4 жыл бұрын
Most American cars since the early 60's have had synchronized forward gears! No need for double clutching like this in most non-agricultural, utility, or military vehicles.

It's not a typical manual gear. It's non-synchronised. This means you need to do double clutch when shifting from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3.

My 1982 Mustang 5.0 had a 4speed SROD manual. All Gears were synchronized, except 1st. The Idea was you did not downshift it to 1st unless you were stopped. Many American cars were like this even into the 1980s, until the B&W 5 speeds came out(1983). The new UAZ 469's have a copy of that trans, with all 5(yes 5 speed now!) gears synchronized. I'm sure you could upgrade easily. Also, many of the early 5 speeds were just 4 speeds with an external overdrive unit(weak)that ran off the fourth gear. They were not acceleration, or hill climbing gears. They were only for cruising once you got to speed on level ground. Many VW's/German Cars/Nissans had the 5th gear fail because people overloaded them as if a normal gear.

I have just installed a re-jettet K126H carburetor from a Moskwitch with a nice Moskwitch 412 dry airfilter box, works great! P.S. you need to learn to drive the non synchronous box! Upshift double clouth and downshift intermediate throttle strike!

This thing should have the same engine and gearbox as the GAZ24 meaning all synchro gears. Also you don't need to double clutch if you rev match even without synchros. Edit: man after hearing the gears grind imma say i might be changing my mind, yikes.

Cant find it,grind it! I've been driving stick since I was teen without power steering, taught my kids to drive stick. First lesson NOT on the road, but a field or empty parking lot. Teaching the mechanics of stick for the first time is safer that way. Last lesson,stop on an incline without using the hand brake,go forward without rolling backwards,stalling or burning out the clutch.

That is not a fair comparison. Humvee could serve Armored purpose. This could not and nor was it designed to. It was more akin to a WW2 US jeep in purpose - light, and flexible. More comparable would be Russian Gaz Tigr to a modern Humvee as they have similar roles, both being armored cars.
