Hi, this is Lisa Skelly. I'm one of the tax and Uber driver-partner experts here at TurboTax and I'm here to help you in preparing your tax return as an Uber driver-partner. First, let's talk about being self-employed. You are not an employee of Uber. So, that means you're your own business. You may hear a couple of different terms with that. You can hear "Sole Proprietorship," "Owning your own business," "Contractor," "Subcontractor;" it all means the same thing. You are in the business of driving. Good news is, you don't have to file a "business tax return." You're actually going to add all of that to your individual tax return - the same one you do every year. There's just a few more forms involved. Walking through TurboTax Self-Employed, all you need to do is answer the questions and we'll put it on the right forms for you. Now, let's say you're not just a driver for Uber. Lets say you do Uber Eats and Amazon Delivery. All of that is the same business, because you are in the business of driving. So, all of that information will actually be gathered in TurboTax Self-Employed and go to a single - what's known as a Schedule C. And that gets added to your individual tax return. Easy peasy.

Driving Uber is definitely not worth all the aggrivation or the money i ended up paying out, and on top of that I ended up owing the IRS. I have never had to pay the government until now!!!!

agree , i think i was giving free rides . wear and tear on my car(close to 50,000 miles , plus gas around .
