It's not even the service entrance. It's the fact the customers don't tell the delivery guys in the instructions to use that entrance. You get there and if you're new to the building, you will go to wrong entrance.

Yes I am sure trying to do delivery in NYC it's very difficult now. I used to live there and I can't imagine trying to do delivery on a bike at this point. But the migrant situation must be off the chain there because it's really bad here in Chicago. People talk about the fake accounts but what isn't being discussed is how these apps are raking in the profits because of the cheap labor. People who don't do this don't understand because they're not in the mix. Uber had been experimenting with those low base pays just prior to the migrant situation blowing up. Then you get these illegal accounts and thousands of migrants jumping on the apps after observing us working..and now they are the ones who are taking all those low paying orders! $2, $3 orders and they take them ..of course the apps are happy! Partying in the boardroom, celebrating this cheap labor, while those of us who are long time workers are suffering try to make some decent money. I for one, refuse to do those stupid low-paying orders that are often ridiculous distances for the price. Not to mention the fact that the level of service has plummeted with these people working who can't even speak english, who have no customer service skills, most of them don't use any type of hot bag and just mishandle the food. From what I see them doing I can only imagine the condition that people's food often arrives in. Also theft off orders by the migrants is getting out of hand. I have been trying to get the media to pay closer attention to what is going on and to do more in exposing the lack of oversight by all the apps. As far as the difficulty of delivering to buildings, that's kind of part of the job, unfortunately. You're going to have to figure out a way to secure your bike well enough to leave it on the street for however long. That's the disadvantage of working in NYC. At least here in Chicago that service entrance policy really isn't an issue but why should someone on a bike or scooter be given privilege to bring their work vehicle into the building or even upstairs? I mean really think about that. Especially in the winter or bad weather no one wants a bike tracking dirt all over the floor! And yes, NYC and the other cities where people have been insisting upon being treated as an employee, have all screwed themselves. Now you're on the schedule, now you have to be on a certain tier in order to have access to the schedule first, so now people have even less work than they did before. I wish people would stop trying to make the apps into a W-2 job and let it be what it was intended to be, a freelance job / contractor situation were people had freedom to work when they wanted to. Fight for proper base pay from the company's... not fighting to be an "employee"..🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄

But hey, we all know the real dream is to ride our bikes into luxury lobbies, tracking in all that sweet, sweet NYC slush. Nothing says 'VIP' like an elevator ride to the penthouse with a soggy tire in tow. And don't even get me started on those amazing scheduling systems. Because, of course, what we all really wanted was to swap our freedom for a calendar full of 15-minute shifts and an existential crisis about whether or not we’ll get first dibs on a whopping $3 payout. Honestly, it's a wonder we're not all lining up to sign on as full-time employees-who wouldn’t want that security? But until then, I'll just keep chasing the dream, hoping one day to make enough for a cup of coffee that isn’t from a bodega. Stay golden out there!

Depends on the building. For office buildings it’s common. Also happens in other fancy bldgs too. Quite annoying when there’s no signage but you learn which bldgs have them snd what hrs they’re open.

I love your content I am an Uber Walker I face challenges like this sometime but I remember my drop location so I wont go to those location. As for delivery worker an hour pay I experience the bonus which only applies if you make $50+ on Sunday for example and your online time was 6 hours they will add another $50+ and pay only 4 hours

I operate the Brooklyn Fulton Mall, Flatbush Junction area and with so many idle bikes & scooters it's been hard to catch the back to back runs but have found success in Williamsburg
