Uber expands in B.C.

The world's biggest ride-hailing app has been given the green light to expand to Victoria and Kelowna. For three years, Uber has only been allowed to operate in the Lower Mainland. But as the CBC's Tanya Fletcher tells us, while some are embracing the app, others would like to put on the brakes.

The difference between taxi and Uber is that you know how much is the ride prior hopping on Uber. For taxi, some will strategically hit every red light and milk the metre.

YEP took a taxi once in VA with a Paki driver and got scammed will never take a taxi again in my life.

I'd also say with Uber, you can rate your driver. Too many times do you get a bad taxi driver and can't do anything about it. Uber brings a standard to the industry. I have used Uber in the states and so far it has been amazing and much better then taxi's

Both these towns had very small population compared to lower mainland with no great job market such as Vancouver already taxis wait hours for rides, with few exceptions such as new year, the more drivers the better for uber, in reality with uber neither uber drivers make money nor others, it's win - win only for uber.

Watch out!!!!!!!!!! Most Uber drivers are also Lyft drivers. Also there are so many times that a Taxi is so so much cheaper. Uber/ Lyft will charge 30 to 40 times more during peak times. Taxi will not. So use your money sense
