maddogkilla1 It’s only pocket change if you treat DD as pocket change. I’ve seen screenshots of people in my multiple DD groups making $400, $500, upwards up to $1,600 PER week, which blowed my mind! The people who are making a couple hundreds with it are taking it serious. The people who are making let’s say $50 a week, $100 a week either aren’t taking it serious or don’t have enough time to put more time in it. I’ve learned this running multiple different businesses, you get out what you put in & there is no other way around it.
@maddogkilla15 жыл бұрын
@@FG10084 I mean to some ppl I guess ur right. Personally, I've found that DD requires too much of your time to make it worthwhile. My time is valuable and I can use it making more $ in different markets. I mean, you can make that much running a lemonade stand. But to me, the time it takes to make that much at a lemonade stand is much more valuable spent elsewhere. Now replace lemonade stand with Door Dash.

With regard to kzbin.info/www/bejne/qILEnpmdlttmp7c , the info provided in this video isn't correct regarding having passengers. There is NOTHING stating this within Doordash TOS or their Agreements, so I have no idea WHERE he is getting his info. And if there is, please provide a link directly where it states this. Doordash does, however, state the following: help.doordash.com/dashers/s/ica-us?language=en_US IV. RELATIONSHIP OF PARTIES: Number 2. DOORDASH shall not have the right to, and shall not, control the manner or the method of accomplishing Contracted Services to be performed by CONTRACTOR. The parties acknowledge and agree that those provisions of the Agreement reserving ultimate authority in DOORDASH have been inserted solely for the safety of consumers and other CONTRACTORS using the DOORDASH platform or to achieve compliance with federal, state, or local laws, regulations, and interpretations thereof. HOWEVER, you definitely need to check your local and state laws regarding children in automotive vehicles. There are many restrictions, and with most states, leaving a child unattended in a car within a certain amount of feet you're away from the vehicle can be illegal. You cannot just park your car in the driveway, leave your kid in the car, lock the doors, and assume you can quickly run up to the house as freely as you think to drop off the food. And depending on the state, many parents are unknowingly breaking these laws. Doordash can easily deactivate you based on these laws while receiving a complaint with regard to this.

They enjoy the time they spend with me as we talk about all things nerd during the drive and it's nice to have a helping hand to hold orders so they don't tip over etc. On one order we did there was another dasher in the same restaurant we were picking up at, she had a HUGE order in two extremely large bags. A catering order with probably about 40 items in it and she hauled that shit by herself. Bravo. A good employee is 100 times more profitable than 1 customer is. Businesses have been so focused on the customer that they forget that the employees make their business run smoothly. A big part of this is the stress and metrics that owners place upon managers. Managers get so stressed out that they treat the employees like crap in fear of them losing their management position. Also the idea that all employees are replaceable is correct, but the cost of training and time to find an adequate replacement will cost that business thousands of Dollars. Yes without customers a business doesn't exist, but without employees most businesses won't exist either. Bad employees are a loss to a business however and do need to be fired ASAP. Bad employees make customers stop going to that business and cause a business to loss revenue. A perfect example of this is fast food restaurants. Why so many people don't go to fast food is because of the piss poor attitude that many workers have. These bad employees have no unique skill sets, but they feel that they should be making $25 per hour just because. You don't get paid based upon the work that you do, you get paid based on how profitable your production is. I will laugh when in 10 years most fast food restaurants will have robots preparing all food orders. Then those bad employees will make $0 per hour.

@jaegordon254 жыл бұрын
@Harold Flanagan the goal is to make money for things you want, not just to dump it in vehicle repairs which it might not need if you weren't putting additional miles on it. LOL when it's out of the shop, I'll probably resume Dashing. Another factor in my ceasing deliveries was that my work schedule changed so I had less time available for my side gig. However, with the demand for deliveries being greater I'm gonna find a way to make time. Strategy is key for success in Doordash. I personally see drivers caring too much about their acceptance as you pointed out. Part of being an independent contractor is doing what works best for you in a given situation based on the outlines that you're given. With that being the case, you have to look at how doing something effects your bottom line.
@Gignation4 жыл бұрын
Great points. Dashers need to make the best decisions for their business as an independent contractor, hopefully apps will continue to let them do so
@johnsciara94183 жыл бұрын
First and most important mistake. You need to open a separate bank account for your door dash, grub hub, Lyft work. Rule number one. Never mix business money with personal money. Have all your Gig income go into the separate bank account. At the end of the year you can total up your income from each of the gig opportunities that you have used during the year. Pay for your gas and expenses for your vehicle out of the business bank account. Pay your car insurance, car payment, car wash and any other expense out of the business account. Speak with a tax preparer. The mileage deduction is not the only deduction that you're allowed to take. Treat this like a business. Remember you are your own best employee.

Base pay seems to be based upon the store. I had a customer order from a local chain restaurant just the other day, one store was walking distance to her house and the other about 5 miles away. The closer store charged a dollar more than the further one so she of course ordered from the further store. No, we can't see the tip amount until the order is delivered but what may not be evident to the customer is that they can change the tip amount for 24 hours after delivery, (I learned that from a Door Dash CSR). For me, I take all orders, big or small. What did that do for me? Made me a top dasher so I can dash in a grey zone, get priority orders over someone with lower ratings and I could be sitting next to him in the same parking lot. So yes, ratings do mean something. DD can also give a high rated dasher a monthly challenge like I just got; 450 orders between Jan 5 and Jan 31 for an additional $200. My highest week is $725+ for less than 30 hours. This week I am at $715 with 28 hours and still have tomorrow. Just a side hustle? I could make good money if I put in full time hours and so can you.

Speaking of tips...our tips are taxed when they are paid to us through the company, correct? I have vague memories of being able to tip at the door and the reason I did so was to keep this money out of the taxed income of the delivery person. I wish everyone who has delivery service would consider the implications of tipping on the app.
@johniii81475 жыл бұрын
Wendy Davis It’s no different than a tip on a credit or debit card at a restaurant. Yes it’s taxed. That is just the reality since many people rarely use cash anymore. I rarely have cash on me anymore since I use it so rarely

I'm not sure about that, but I do think a few customers have realized that the delivery driver gets more money if they tip at the door instead of in-app! (Example: one of my deliveries DD paid me $9 and the customer gave me $7 cash. $16 total! Easiest and best delivery yet)
@courtneyanderson28885 жыл бұрын
Any tip you receive is taxable...but if they give you cash there is no record of that tip. If they give it through the app there is a record. People who say you aren't taxed on cash tips are incorrect. You should be putting this amount on your tax forms. Many people wont put the cash tips into their gross income on their tax forms and then won't be taxed on it. Which is technically tax fraud. The IRS taxes everything. If you find $100 you are supposed to put that in your tax forms as income and be taxed on it. Its just how it is.

He definitely has some points for sure, but don’t agree with all of it. You can definitely do it full time. As for it not being worth it to drive to a different area I don’t agree. I live in seattle and all of the surrounding areas are poppin and not that far. There is often a $3.50-$4.00 peak pay in bellevue in which I’ve made $200 bucks in like 5 or 6 hours. Totally worth the 20 minute drive. Unlike my area who will barely be busy or run promos. I think it just depends on the area you live in. Blanket statements don’t apply to every situation. 💰💰💰

Great advice all around. I've seen other people take their kids with them too during deliveries. Good tips on gas usage. Not a mistake, but a few tips that I have is to make sure you have some kind of rewards credit card for the extra expenses you will incur as a driver. I also highly recommend shopping around for car maintenance specials (Groupon is great for this).

I have had decent pickup distance, then maybe a 15 min delivery drive time. Doesn't happen often but it does happen. And with that it can take you outside city also, where no pickups likely, so then you have to waste gas to get back to town so to get a new call, whether want to or not. Most can do Doordash full-time with the addition of other apps but depends on your personal market. You can make more doing gig apps then pretty much any general retail worker. Hi Terence. I’ve been avoiding app updates and still using the old version. I get a total miles and total items on the order screen, I also get a map with the restaurant and delivery address on it, makes it easy to screen orders. Possible they changed this with updates to prevent cherry picking...

@@anishpatel7015 I sure hope they do not catch you for tax evasion, that would be fines and penalties. It is better to be honest and do what is right. Heres an example. My hubby did not pay taxes (or file) in 2003 had he filed he would have gotten 1000 returned to him The IRS found out filed it for him 2005 ish Owed 1500.. He ignored it here comes along uncle Sam he owed 6000 who in 2018 garnished his wages. It was a fun year the government may be slow but they do not forget. Karmas a bitch they say

I just left my Bluetooth key at a Burger King while dashing and someone stole it. I just lost my earnings for the day to pay for the scam that is a 200 dollar replacement key.

Another tip is to learn how to do basic maintenance on your vehicle like oil changes and brake work. I got me some $20 jack stands from Wal Mart and do my own oil changes now. This is going to save you a lot of money in the long run, especially if you're doing this full time.
