Uberti celebra con una nuova replica il 150mo anniversario del leggendario Winchester 1866 “Yellowboy”, il fucile che conquistò il West americano. Ripercorriamo brevemente le tappe salienti che portarono al suo sviluppo.
Siamo abituati a dire che il mondo sia diventato più piccolo con il passar del tempo, e forse è anche vero ma, in certi ambiti, come la ristretta cerchia di progettisti di armi americani del XIX secolo, nel 1866 il mondo era ancora più piccolo.
O per essere più precisi e iniziare la nostra storia da principio, il mondo era piccolo nel 1855, quando un certo Horace Smith si mise in società con un tale Daniel B. Wesson per fondare la Volcanic Repeating Arms Company, un'impresa dedicata allo sviluppo di un promettente progetto: il “proiettile razzo” (Rocket Ball) brevettato da Walter Hunt, prolifico inventore newyorkese alla cui mente dobbiamo anche la moderna macchina per cucire e la spilla da balia.
E, proprio come la spilla da balia, il proiettile razzo era una semplice ma efficiente idea intesa ad eliminare i difetti (principalmente fragilità e sensibilità all'acqua) dell'allora diffusissima cartuccia in carta, e che avrebbe avuto un'influenza enorme, seppur indiretta, sulla progettazione di armi da fuoco.

Well, my Italian is a little rusty, however the quality and craftsmanship of Uberti speaks loud and clear. Keep up the good work, been a fan ever since I saw the good the bad and the ugly when I was a young boy. That movie, Clint Eastwood and Uberti changed the course of my life.

The Italians are amazing; it seems they can recreate just about any classic arm and do it for a reasonable price too. I've seen their quality continue to improve over the years as well.

This is not an accurate 1866 replica. I just went back in time and bought one and it’s totally different.
