Fantastic video, exactly what i needed. One question though. When i enable port isolation on the port with the access point connected, it looses connection to the unifi Controller. How did you deal with this in your demo? Many thanks sir.

Is your UniFi controller connected to the same switch? If yes, that's the effect of port isolation; if not, I have not encountered that situation.

@@hz777 When the controller is connected to the same swith as the AP's with it's port not enabled for isolation everything is fine. When i move the controller to another switch, with it's port not enabled for isolation but the uplinks between the switches are enabled for isolation then the AP's drop off. Then If i disable port isolation on the uplinks between the switches the AP's come back online.

Basically, I'm hoping to use port isolation with Unifi in student accommodation with 13 switches and 265 rooms each with it's own isolated SSID broadcasting on Unifi In-wall AP's. I don't want the unifi controller to be visible on the network when a device in a room browses the network. I'm struggling to make setup work....

Thanks for this great video. In the Multi Switches & Multi Layers Szenario: can a Client on "Access Switch 1" on a non isolated Port communicate with a Client on "Access Switch 2" on a non isolated Port, when the two Ports on the "Aggregation Switch" are isolated?

@@christianrensch2903no it can't. In fact whether the port on access switch is isolated or not does not matter.

Good vid! If I create an IoT network and have a wired client and the rest are wifi, can they communicate if I enable port isolation on the wired and client isolation on the AP?

WiFi's "Client Device Isolation" should resolve the wifi client part requirement, however when it comes to communications with wired devices, depending on your requirements, VLAN+firewall rules may need to be considered.

Sir, I connect this USW-24 with 7 AP, when I change other uplink port on switch, already take out old cable, then AP status inform Isolated, then my switch running hot too many, then broken , I already send to service center for checking, but I wonder where this issue come from, I newbie, pls kindly explain

A unifi ap is isolated means it cannot connect to unifi console through the management network, but it can still be seen by other ap. So the "isolation" in your issue is not related to the topic of this video. Having said that, your issue may due to the uplink of your switch or your network config. Regarding the final hardware failure, you have to find out why by yourself.
