I'm a big PoP fan (I mostly mean the original trilogy, but some other games are good as well). As soon as I saw that 'prince' of anything but Persia, I decided that I wanted nothing to do with it. This is the first PoP game that I skipped. I don't care if the game is good or not. I'm just done with this and Ubi won't get a penny from me ever again.

Attractive sex dimorphic characters, immersive worlds, effective sounds, lively visuals, content being full, and fun gameplay are how you should make video games for video game players. Merit should be the matter.
@Undomaranel
@Undomaranel 23 сағат бұрын
Not even attractive, just put together. I don't need to get off on characters to like a game, and neither should anyone else. If sexual attraction is a qualifier on if you enjoy a story/ challenge or not, that speaks to your character over knowing what quality is... and shows you don't appreciate classics like Hollow Knight, classic pixels like the original Zelda, or The Impossible Quiz with inhuman, unsexy images. Seriously, sex is part of life but it shouldn't be everything, and making it a pivotal marketing strategy is demeaning to the game and customers alike, let alone those making the games.

Khu reported that Z-A will be similar to SV. That made users mad because they know Pokémon fans are mad because scrapping the iconic art style, character designs, and fun features turns the series into what it is not. Lumiose Post is right when he said the SV characters look like dolls. True Green 7 showed pretty good sex dimorphic Pokémon ideas. Overworld effects from any depended Pokémon's Ability add value and strategy that the monsters can actually help you as their training. Stores may stop selling bad video games like those. DEI hires are always bad for any company that potential customers and the alike will boycott for better companies.

The question is this though: if you can do it all yourself, why bother getting “picked up” and losing control/rights after already finding success on your own? Being taken to a bigger audience isn’t worth a damn if your creation that you’ve already built a following on your own no longer has almost the complete control (and profits) and instead goes in large part to the companies that didn’t help you get there in the first place and will have the option to meddle with it, wreck the marketing, etc if they so choose. I’m a firm believer in a “you’re there from the start/when it finds its footing, or you shouldn’t be involved at all” and “if you build something, subsequently sell off, and then get f*cked over, then you only have yourself to blame” mindsets.

Because not every one can do every thing. While I am a staunch opponent of the cult of the MBA (a typical MBA's actual primary skill is _networking_ and they are terrible at actually managing business) a talented founder/creator who is capable of successfully running a small business/studio usually does not have the knowledge-base or connections to transfer those skills into running a medium or large corporation. Most times it's better to hand off the mess to someone else and just take the paycheck rather than to run it into the ground.

There were a lot of issues with Lost Crown. The character and his design are one of them. The other stuff was typical corporate blunders (which also affected the character). Meanwhile the team making The Rogue Prince of Persia is not only fine, they released a new update yesterday for the game. Also TRPoP doesn't require UbiSoft Connect. And same it is with HoMM: The Olden Era that also won't require UbiSoft Connect. Well justified since both games are being done by outside studios. Olden Era is being done by the guys who did Iratus.
@AndyDillbeck

@CommanderBohn
@CommanderBohn 47 минут бұрын
@@AndyDillbeck It's actually pretty dope. Even takes some ques from older titles when it comes to atmosphere. The character design...I'm mixed on it, but it doesn't affect gameplay. Heroes The Olden Era on the other hand is shaping to be even more of a Heroes III successor than Heroes V, yet at the same time it's taking cues from V's expansions (the alternative upgrades and such). There is even more this game has in stock, so better observe any news on it. And I can sleep well knowing that the Iratus guys are also big fans of the series. So I trust them to deliver good gameplay.

1) Don't hire activists. 2) Don't hire "consultants." 3) Don't virtue signal. 4) Profit. Yeah, I get that most of these horrible games coming out have been in production for 3 to 5 years (unless you're a total disaster like Concord, which reportedly took eight) but there is no arguing with facts. No amount of lies, gaslighting or personal attacks will change the cold, hard facts. If you let activism infest your studio, you are doomed. You will not make a profit. The "modern audience" does NOT buy games. The average gamer will not be bullied into buying crap. Either rid your studio of activists, or prepare to lose everything. Remember, the narcissists that bully out the actual talent in companies DO NOT CARE about their fellow employees in any way, shape or form. All they care about is having a platform to push their agendas and force out everyone who disagrees with them. This will not make your company any money. The activists will happily ride your company down in flames, all the while attacking everyone else and blaming them for their own evil. And while these studios are on the express elevator to bankruptcy, grifters and charlatans in the form of "consultants" will gleefully fleece these studios of millions of dollars while using the cover of progressiveness and virtue signalling to fend off actual critics.

Those game studios closing are joining the Modern Audience. It's funny how studios that are on good terms with their playerbase (Wube, Coffeestain to name some examples) seem to be doing just fine. It's the studios that cater to either investors/managers or to 'focus groups'/'consultants' and dunk on their playerbase, that end up not having one. Playerbase or studio? Yes. This is just the market adjusting.

I started my journey into content creation when i was 15yo in 1997. I was lucky and got hired into an entry level positiin at a non-profit Museum. 23 years later and they pay me a nice salary to make KZbin videos for their (small) channel. I get to produce books, magazines, clothing and more for them. It's a good gig if you can find the work.

Gaming has been taken over by those pushing an agenda that most players aren’t interested in. Then rather than listening to what the players really want they keep releasing the same stuff that didn’t sell the first time and expect a different result.

As someone who plays Hi-Rez's games, it's not all that surprising that DKO and Realm Royale are shutting down. In fact I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. DKO didn't get much fanfare to begin with back when it was first announced and not many people really played it on release after the beta. As for Ream (even though it was trying to be a Fortnite-esqe game like many other games at the time) it was pretty positively received but balancing and bugs kinda killed it. There was a point where they had to (iirc, it's been so long since it happened) shutdown the servers to fix the issues which took a long time and by the time the everything was up and running again they had already lost a lot of their player base. By 2021-22 most matches were filled with bots and still are. I really am just honestly shocked that it lasted this long. Hi-Rez as a company honestly just doesn't really try all that much to keep a game relevant or keep their audience interested after a release. They'll hype it up for the first 3 updates, then nothing. Unless it's Smite (and sometimes Paladins). They just wanna get their next game out if it's interesting enouge. Enough being "eh, why not".

The few people I feel pure schadenfreude for seeing fail are woke activists, and gaming seems to be tied with comic books for having the most woke activists in it, so unless they speak out and disavow, I don't feel bad for any of them. These are the same people who hate us and call us "untalented freaks."

I vowed not to buy another Ubisoft game after I brought the newest Just Dance. The price I paid for them to lock the license to the user account. So when the my family users on the PS5 went to play it was saying they needed to buy a copy. 😡 I was already upset that I brought a physical copy only to open to no disc and a digital code which wasn't stated before buying. I was like fool me once shame on you...but you won't be fooling me again.

I hear some Korean companies are doing well. Maybe they're hiring? I imagine some, maybe a lot, maybe most, of the people who worked on the game didn't contribute much to the decisions that caused it to fail.

From what I could gather, the Prince of Persia game was a mechanically well made game that was sunk by its extremely poorly executed DEI main character and marketing. Turning the Prince into the damsel could’ve worked. Look at that new Zelda game where you play as Zelda. After being caught off-guard, Link, the hero, literally sacrifices himself to give Princess Zelda a chance to escape. Nothing like that happens in the Prince of Persia game. The titular Prince is a damsel from start to finish, and instead we get the greatness of the DEI MC shoved down our throats.

Back in 1997 my first true video game was Resident Evil for the PlayStation. I really enjoyed that game and I played Jill, for some reason but, I remember fondly seeing the video game magazine covers with Lara Croft. Nowadays video games are everything whereas, back in my day, I didn't really like Nintendo, I preferred action figures and toys. Those dominated the toy market back in the day, and nowadays I think video games have maxed out the market. I have a theory that I call the "Clone Wars" effect; where due to marketing data that says something is dying, you end up creating a new way to sell things through FOMO. There also is woke, whereas not buying and participating in something, means that person is a racist. This especially has a degrading effect on the emotional well-being of young people, in my opinion.

At first I thought it was a good idea to buy Ubisoft shares. Afterall, the founding family is still there and these were the same people running Ubisoft when Ubisoft was in it's Prime. I figured Ubisoft would likely recover and coyrse correct, but I never got around to buying any shares. Now I'm glad I didn't because every other day, there's another controversy afflicting Ubisoft. I think it's over for them.

The prince of persian game has no representation. It's the prince of Persia - modern day Iran. The dude looks persian. The issue with this one was pricing. This game has a lot of indie and even AA games to be compared to that cost a LOT more.

Unfortunately that team are casualties of war. Businesses have spent too much time listening to Vocal minorities, Telling them what "They" think everybody wants, But businesses did not bother to check with everybody else, and implemented changes based on the word of the Vocal minorities. This why there is so much pushback recently, How can you object to something you knew nothing about, until after they have made the changes. If Ubisoft and the other businesses survive, Maybe take the time to ask the majority what they want and maybe come to a compromise rather than smash the majority over the head with the minority wants, then blame the majority because of Executives poor choices.
