Way back when AC Syndicate was brand new, the jack the ripper dlc was widely hated as it made no sense, added basically nothing of worth while, and focused on evie instead of the main character of the game, Jacob. Everyone hated the ripper dlc. These days ubisoft blame us for it not being as successful as they wished, and they've gotten some content creators they work with, and journalists to all claim the dlc is really loved and great... Yeah, only we know the truth.

Personally I think gaming took a nose dive after the PS2 generation. Back then games flooded the market for all platforms and the majority of them were fun to play. My PS2 catalog is the biggest out of all the Sony consoles because of that. After the PS2 things like exclusivity started, companies having the sole right to a given IP. Force Unleashed wouldn't have happened if that had existed back then. Investors got involved. Companies got complacent and lazy. Now here we are. Pointing and laughing at the Concords, the Skull and Bones, the AC Shadows. Meanwhile we're gobbling up Indy games because they're the only ones who seem to give a fuck about what they're putting on the market. Now and then you have a Wukong or a BG3 but a lot of the yearly releases are just dog shit. Either they're terrible in general or it's a copy & paste job like EA has been doing with Madden for over a decade now.

No 'always online requirements' etc. The biggest sin of X360 /PS3 Gen were these intrusive DLC epilogues; or additional missions. But now, when I see the roaster of SF 6 and know that the second half of the game will appear as a paid DLC in the future; it's unacceptable.

It boggles my mind how things like NFS Most Wanted or Death by Degrees was more to play and experience than most of the games put out today. It is pretty sad how much they've tried to monetize base content. If a game has DLC day one you can pretty much bet your ass that the content was cut out of the game to be repackaged as something else. As a rule of thumb these days I just ignore anything that has the live service tag. They are never worth it.

Ubisoft can't be fixed, there are too many activists and DEI people within the company and too few actual merit based and talented people that care about games over activism. The whole company needs to fail so what little talent is left there can move to other studios that still care about gaming and gamers.

one big step to help would be to Close the Canadian branch. Thats where the DEi bull is strongest. It;s also where the Majority of SBI employees come from. Ubisoft Quebec
