It baffles me, why? Just why? why would these companies risk their success when it is literally known to cause backlash and lose money? Is there some kind of hidden agenda we’re not aware of, dictated by the black gays and trans or something? I mention these groups in particular because if these DEI and ESG stuff are supposed to be all-inclusive, then why are they so adamant on excluding straight male and white people? And why do they call Asians “white adjacent” if it’s truly inclusive? When there’s blatant racism, misandry, and xenophobia. And this feels more like a supremacy movement-similar to how modern feminism has been twisted compared to its original voting-rights era in the 1800s and 1900s. I still don’t get it, and it frustrates me. Now, even Games Workshop and their Warhammer 40k franchise have fallen to this BS. Ubisoft has lost nearly a billion dollars in poor game sales this year. Their stock price is at an all time low and reaches a new all time low almost weekly. Their major investors a doing an in house investigation on Ubisoft management to find out what's going on. A separate group of investors are calling for other investors to buy out the company. The Stop Killing Games campaign was the catalyst that forced Ubisoft's terrible business practices into the spotlight. And if successful will send shock waves through the gaming industry. (Note: we still need more signatures, please sign the European Citizens Initiative if you're a EU citizen.) Ubisoft is part of another separate EU investigation into the egregious use of micro transactions in video games. And their main headquarter office is currently haveing a worker strike. Too many studios are making the same mistakes and now with games like elden ring, black wukong, space marine 2 and helldivers 2 showing what players / customers want, it really makes you think who is making these decisions at the upper management. Like for real now, does any one of them have any form of common sense? Because it feels like more and more studios I grew up with are getting more shit the bigger they get. It makes no sense to me how the correlation makes games this bad. Sadly this might be something natural now for gaming studios. Now they are just releasing either forgettable games (Avatar) or straight up flops (Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and Bones). Taking Assassin's Creed franchise to Japan was their easy 'Get out of jail free' card, since fans have asked for it for a decade. And Ubisoft still managed to fumble the bag on that. Back during Disney's 1990's golden age I used to liken Nintendo to them. Quality, family friendly entertainment. These days, you're spot on. Ubisoft and modern Disney are agenda driven, money burning slop machines that are shadows of their former selves.
@Justin-ko1ht3 ай бұрын
Let's not forget they start crying when the sales are low like are you serious brother ? You fucked your own ass and then accusing us of expecting too high quality. Did fromsoftware and DreamWorks made us expect high quality ? No, cause we fucking know they're unaffected by whatever the fuck is going on in this world and they make what they love.

They were the leading game studio. But somebody convinced them if they continue making games for men, somehow something bad was gonna happen. For fucks sake, what would happen if they continue down the same path of making great games and money. The media might call them sexist. You wouldn’t want that. It’s amazing how these companies have emulated their money and reputation just for a theoretical audience. After all, we all know there’s something problematic if mostly men like and make your games. No one knows what that problem is. But we know it’s a problem.

All this crap with ESG and DEI and just a terrible attitude towards hiring employees and senior management, led to this. What is a single player game? It's a lot of things in one package, it's an interesting story, varied gameplay, music, etc. How could you throw the idea of a game out the window for the sake of some agenda. I can imagine that an adequate employee did his part and quit so as not to ruin his nerves in this asylum.

Why Ubisoft decided to release that new garbage PoP over the Sands of Time remaster/remake (whatever it was) is just baffling to me. I know a lot of people are tired of remakes and whatnot these days, but Prince of Persia Sands of Time is a classic and deserves so much better treatment.

Does anyone hear that? Silence in the room whenever a video game is mentioned. That's because it's just me and the game which is fine for when I'm gaming but for the thrill and the hype I used to turn to E3, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show to be part of this community that would be in awe of the awesome games that were coming out. There'll be this buzz surrounding upcoming game's and everyone felt it, it was electric. Now it's just me and the game. There's no buzz, no incentive to buy and I have a complete lack of knowledge about the games I want to have an interest in. These developer's used to sit and talk to jornalists after these major events so they can disect and ciphen every bit of information about their game but again I don't get that with how publisher's are choosing to market the game's. Every game gets a lukewarm reception and every gamer is moody af. Everything seems tame, lacklustre and boring and to me it all stems from when they cancelled all of these big gaming events. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor was a huge hit, same as Hogwarts Legacy but all of those games had hype... we need hype. Ubisoft needs to ditch Assassin's Creed in order for their other games to stand a chance. There's an essence of Assassin's Creed in Division, Watch_Dogs, Far Cry, Avatar and Star Wars whether it be stealth, parkour, liberation missions or with some interwoven storyline.

you know its honestly sad... the only ubisoft game i currently have installed is the division 2 and that feels so far removed from all the bullshit, that is going on at ubisoft. were getting a new seasons model, were heading into year 6, for god sake theres a fully paid brooklyn dlc coming out that will resolve alot of unanwsered questions about the story and characters. the game is still weight down by the season pass model, however evem that feels rewarding and such as the gameplay works very well. wild

that's really sad honestly! like when does Ubisoft notice that riding the ESG train has netted them nothing besides hate from the only community that plays games... white young males (ofc others too but this is predominant group) I think with a revert from yasuke to a real character from Japan maybe and stating this, numbers will soar! focusing on weapons and combat feel, having a fleshed out story without map markers everywhere like just take cues from maybe BOTW, HZD, decluttering UI, leave the player some autonomy. correcting mistakes which have been mentioned in every review of the last 4 games

Because everything is now owned by private equity, the focus is all about satisfying shareholders. This leads to extracting the most value and hiring management that barely cares about the product itself, focusing instead on financial performance. This is happening with all big corporations. They are soulless, and the main concern of upper management is securing more stock options by outsourcing cheap labor in India, then reporting how much money they've saved to those at the top. It's messed up. The industry has gone too far with capitalism. It’s broken and doesn’t function like it did 30 years ago. That's the main reason indies often create much better games aside from the budget difference. They are passionate about their product, Ubisoft - is not. The problem is so big and systemic, it's not just about the gaming industry. It’s about everything these days. Everything revolves around data, performance, and financial results, but not the idea, passion, or final product. Small companies often bring fresh air into industries, but not for long, because they either get crushed by monopolies with unfair competitive advantages or are bought out, and the cycle continues. It drives me crazy. On top of that, we now have an internet full of AI-generated, average content everywhere. It’s just sad.

Not too much, thats for sure. And the Players give them Money for too long time. Now every one seems to get a wakeup call. They all can close the Doors. We need Devs who make great Games, not greedy folks who try to squeez the last drop out of the customers.
