KZbin: No dislike count. Internet: Challenge accepted.
@davidyos25752 жыл бұрын
I feel like KZbin is testing its audience's creativity to dislike a video without a dislike button. Now it creates a stigma, instead of disliking the video directly, other content creators are more likely to create a video bashing on them and flood the comment section with "use me as a dislike button" instead. Oddly, there's always someone going "Well making games isn't free you know, why not appreciate them and buy something so they can afford to make more?" There's nothing wrong with withholding money from a company that isn't working for it. Players want entertainment and if the company can't be bothered to build that relationship, it's insulting to have the game company hold out their hands for more.
@LuhWhippaSnappa2 жыл бұрын
@@dakat5131 Exactly! Just look at Rockstar and Take Two for an example, they've made BILLIONS off of GTA V and to this very day, they're still making millions upon millions of dollars. Why make a GTA VI when they're still making bank off the same game they released 8 years ago? Not only that, Rockstar has waaaay more than enough money to not only make a new game, but look how they did the GTA "Definitive" Edition. They most definitely could've paid Grove Street Games, themselves, or another group that would be more than happy to put in the love, effort, and time to do a complete remake, but they gave us what we got instead. These gaming companies are trying to find the cheapest, cop out way to make more and more money and people will continue to eat it up and defend them. Its mind boggling. Also, Take Two is aggressively trying to sue modders who just want to make their games better. That alone shows how much they care about the community.

NFTs are a scam meant to give a fake sense of _"ownership"_ over something literally imaginary and a way to sway consumer opinion that the money spent on _"virtual goods"_ isn't the real major waste that it is. Dota 2's cosmetics can be signed with your unique ID, you can leave a message attached, and assign a wide variety of stats to track while it's equipped, some come out as unique rewards for winners of tournaments or events, and they can then be sold and purchased on the Steam Marketplace with all those things attached, and cannot be copied or duplicated. The one thing that seems (to me) like it could be a positive way to use NFTs in videogame industry, would be for the game copies themselves to be NFTs, solving the "You don't own this" problem in digital media. Bring back the used games market. Allow the consumer to jump out of your platform with the product they bought. But that's an angle that I doubt we'll ever see. It's pro consumer.
@deathstrike2 жыл бұрын
I doubt most people would be really against it if it truly delivered what it promises. Ownership of games and related content is already controversial in the digital realm and it would be pro consumer to be given NFT's that would allow for the fair purchase/trade/exchange of digital content from one owner to the next. But as the person described above, that would be pro consumer. And we all know that does NOT compute for publishers. So what if the game ends and the servers are turned off? Does the NFT carry across other platforms? Can an NFT be fairly exchanged for a product that is similar, but on another platform? So many questions, so few answers and they wonder why bootlegging is popular?

Seeing what games like Fortnite have already done to an entire generation of kids, tying their self-image very heavily into their in-game avatars, we should be very wary of game publishers trying to cash-in on the NFT hype. I imagine quite a few of them are salivating at the idea of introducing digital "uniqueness" (i.e. Artificial scarcity) that they can conveniently control on their own terms.

Just started the video and just from the title alone I wanna say: The fact that NFTs are so extremely unpopular that even with Dislikes hidden they're still getting blasted into oblivion, shows there really is no good reason to partake in them. People, especially Artists, that make them are literally choosing money over reputation. For some god-forsaken reason a minority of people are willing to pay exorbitant sums for them compared to regular Commissions, but if you're really willing to nuke your reputation for more money, then you're creating for the wrong reasons. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge advocate for Art in all forms being taken more seriously and paid more appropriately for the amount of work that goes into it, but tl;dr this ain't it chief...

They are convinced it's worth money cause the makers often "sell" them to someone for exorbitant sums only to mysteriously get all the currency back after the sale. Crypto's anonymity and security have made scamming more prominent than ever.

They also allow you to carry items through multiple game franchises, so for example a camo in cod could be used in multiple cods rather than being a waste of money after the next game comes out....

@@JohnJohnson-mp5kj You don't need NFTs for that, just use a unified account system that works across multiple games.
@Pratt_2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnJohnson-mp5kj iirc if you play BF 1 and you already played other Battlefield games you would get a special weapon or weapon skin (I don't remember), there was no need of NFTs for that. NFTs are supposed to make digital things unique, giving it value, meaning that it would only be useful in a ingame market, meaning an other way to implement micro transaction. NFTs in video games are just a fancy word for "limited edition skins".

This reminds me of the scene in Ready player one where the CEO of the company who wants to take over shows the board members how much advertising they can have before the player has a Sezer. It's scary how close they got that company because games will evolve into mindless cash grabs.

In the future, all triple A games will require a Bored Ape NFT to be played, as they'll be the main playable characters, saving the companies time and effort to design a main character for each game. The games will also come with an anti-screenshot system that will prevent the players from taking pictures of other players NFTs.

I miss those days when lootboxes or gambling inspired things were not cost you real money. Like original NFS: Most Wanted, when you defeat a boss and have to choose one of the rewards blindly. You could win his car or just a decal for the car, but you spent nothing on it, you won it - you earned it. And now we got this... oh I'm just afraid that someday gamedesigners will be treated like some kind of scammers instead of being like the creative minds ( film directors, artists or composers).

I feel like they're steadily trying to see how much they can get away with. Stripping away the "game" part of the game bit by bit leaving only layers and layers of monetizable "content" but no actual game.

Reminds me of Valve's own item market, in that every item is tracked uniquely. Only thing is Valve's items are exchangeable for a big variety of other things that gamers may be interested in, and there are a lot of freebies. Like the whales can fund game purchases or even hardware purchases for other Steam users. What Ubisoft failed to do was give us a single reason why we should like this, or even be okay with it. I really can't think of a lazier selling point than "it has a unique number". Never in my life have I felt motivated to buy anything from any store just because it has a unique number on it. It's just another layer to what we already disliked about microtransactions and have done for a very long time. Because of that the video comes across as both evasive and patronising. And they could not have picked a worse time, hot off the heels of the storm that surrounded Halo Infinite's multiplayer monetisation. Microsoft must be grateful to them for taking some of their heat.

Steam's system has the benefit of being tailored for what they need. They're not working around needing it to be compatible with "the blockchain" that will be shared with everyone else. Even Team Fortress 2, with it's heavy ties to the system, is perfectly playable without farming for stuff to trade on the market. The focus on that game is a better split between the market and how the actual game works. A game that focuses too much on "cryptocurrency" only sees value in the speculation of the virtual currency. The game part is entirely vestigial because they just need something to get people into the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem rather than developing something that has it's own identity and fun. I always thought "it's unique" was a weird argument too. They try so hard to convince us that that's what we want, that something is valuable because it's rare. I can make a bad doodle on a scrap of paper and it would be "unique" but worthless. The value doesn't inherently go up. (worse in a growing sea of such items- the tokens might be unique, but most people aren't going to be super passionate about finding a specific one) People buy boosts and skins in games because it gets them through a barrier to what they really want to be doing in the game, not because they're overjoyed at the thought of "investing".

Each year, I'm starting to really distance myself from gaming. Now my choices are so selective. I just want a game you can play from start to finish while being able to unlock shit through actual gameplay. If you want to add doc then fine, but this live service and buying cosmetics shit is ridiculous. Like in their games...paying up to 50.00 for some points to buy some reskin bs that does nothing practically. It's dumb. If players actually buy that stuff then hey good for them. Do what makes you happy, but logistically I can't. 50.00 is an entire game. Besides within 2 years, there will be another one and the game will be irrelevant.

The TF2 comparison was so on spot. There are hundreds of unique items in the game mainly due to things like unusual effects on hats and weapons as well as strangeifiers and other things. There items that were given to players for a limited time, so there are items where only a limited amount of them exist. There are even one of a kind items which exist too. At the end of the day who the hell cares if you have the rocket launcher pizza skin #69? More importantly speak with your wallet. It's a common saying but more people should really do it. Support developers who don't screw over consumers with crazy microtransactions and support indie devs who actually care about creating fun games.
