I was playing this game when I was about 15 or 16, my mom used to watch me sometimes because she was interrested in what I was doing when i spent all those ours behind my laptop playing. She knew the story so when I was at the endgame, won the bossfight and then the credits rolled. I put my controller down(played with a xbox 360 controller)and me and my mother both went. Wow, what story and we were just letting it sink in. I keep remembering that this game made us feel the same compassion for a character even though she is not a big fan of video games. Everytime when I am visiting my parents over the weekend and i play this on my laptop while I am reading something my mom always asks, wait isn't this from that game with the ezio guy? I wish the more recent AC games we as memorable as this. to make you thing back to a character just by hearing a few music notes.

Man... this brings back so many memories. The hope this game gave me in the small and dull world that I lived in. It helped me see more from my bedroom window. My snow-covered neighborhood. On the small hill that overlooked the town. I'd blot out the sounds of my parents yelling at each other, the sad memories that had transpired during my days in highschool, or from the countless amount of times that we had moved from city to city... losing friends... from my drunk father, the shameful embarrassment that was my life. That was around the time they got divorced and me and my brother didn't know how to deal with it. I was 16. In school, I got picked on alot for my last name, and the fact that my teeth weren't that great (just crooked was all. It's fixed now and I'm much more confident) and it made my life bad. Made me self-conscious... so I just stopped talking to people. I sat at tables alone alot, haha. I was always alone... at lunch or in study hall. Even felt alone in classrooms because no one would talk to me. Very few people didn't know me because I was kinda quiet... I couldn't wait to get back home though to play this game, and talk about it with the few friends I had. I would draw alot, and if I could play music I would while doing it. I'd get lost in creating art and imagine being on an adventure. That's what I cared about. Being on the adventure... This music was what drove my imagination. It's what helped me get through those dark days. I'm almost 25 now, and I'm glad that part of my life is over. I still think about those things... and I'm glad me, and the people I care about got through them. I don't really see my parents too often, or my old friends... but my imaginations still there. It hasn't aged a day. But even though it's all in the past now... the strongest emotions come from simple things like this soundtrack. Brings a tear to my eye, and fills my heart with nostalgia. Ha, gotta' love the classics.

Being a teen is hard, harder when you have adult problems and no idea how to deal with them. The feeling of shame, trying to hide the things you have no control over as hard as you can, failing, and eventually settling for isolating yourself and hoping no one talks to you (but secretly hoping someone will notice and help you out). Hoping to minimize any pain by removing yourself from social situations that you can't navigate, can't relate to, because the pressure you face, whether at home or at school is too big to ignore, and you're a teen- you're insanely insecure. Thank god for art like this and others. It was an escape, and a reminder that there is mystery and beauty beyond what's in front of us. Particularly this game though :) Teaching me about this era more effectively than my teachers, I gotta say lol. It also still is incredibly beautiful. Your words moved me, my friend.

The thing about AC 2 is that it was fresh, it was interesting and new. A massive conspiracy/betrayal against the Auditore family, watching your family die and then taking revenge Templar by Templar. The Adam/Eve conspiracy, The assassin tombs, the almost unlimited array of gadgets and a stellar finale. Not only that but this guy spanned 3 games for hells sake, The Ezio trilogy always has been and will be great.

I first played this game in 2011, in the summer before Sophomore year in high school. One of my best friends recommended I try out Assassin's Creed while we were in Summer school together. He'd come home with me after class and play AC with me. I stormed through AC1, loved the game, loved the story, and I loved being Altair. The atmosphere and detail in AC1 was something I had never experienced in a video game before. People shopping and haggling with vendors, the dust kicking up from the ground as you walk, beggars approaching you when you walk through poorer districts, entire mobs of people entering a city carrying baskets of goods and complaining about the heat, town heralds announcing the status of an actual war that took place during that time, the remains of a battle with dead bodies being picked at by vultures outside of a Templar checkpoint, etc. The game was absolutely magical, I felt like I was there. I beat it in like 2 weeks. There was no way a sequel could top this. Then I played Assassin's Creed 2. And to this day, it is still one of my favorite games of all time. For a while, I was between AC2 and AC4/Black Flag being my favorite AC. But now, returning to experience it again the last few days because of the quarantine, I realize my favorite, and quite possibly the best AC game in my opinion, will always be Assassin's Creed 2. It's more than just a game where you play a badass assassin, it's more than a nice looking game with a big open world to explore, it's honestly more than just a video game. This is the game (besides the Metal Gear Solid series) that convinced me videogames are one of the greatest mediums for storytelling. While the game is somewhat outdated in terms of technology, AC2 is eons above and beyond any AC in recent years. Especially Origins and Odyssey in my opinion. AC used to be games centered on a character, following them throughout events in their life that changed the course of history, when there was (I'll say it again) a STORY to tell. It was coherent, it was structured, it was overarching, but even more importantly, it had emotional depth. It wasn't about some guy wearing cool robes that was un-killable, or going around doing mindless chores for everybody, or killing whoever he felt like, or even exploring an extremely vast but empty open world. When a *game* causes you to feel something for a fictional character and world, then it has done its part in successfully conveying a tale to remember. If my own mother who hasn't seen me play this game in years remembers who Ezio is, then there is something right with your game. There are so many things I want to continue talking about, but for now I'll just say this. If you want to experience memorable, rich, and deep storytelling at its finest, play this game. While every game has its faults and shortcomings (depending on what reviewer or critique you prefer), I implore you come up with them yourself.

I used to live in Italy so at one point my parents bought a painting of Florence. I had no clue what the painting was about but it's been hanging in my living room for a long time. One day I walk by it and something catches my eye. I realize that one of the buildings looks like the one from the game. (I know it the game was based on Florence) but I realized how much detail was put into the making of the game because the painting made me remember running around the city as Ezio. The painting was of Florence from a distance so when I saw the building with the dome and the gigantic tower next to it I was so amazed.

The old AC:s had this very mysterious "foggy" vibe throughout the games that just completely vanished after AC3. Especially AC2 and Brotherhood. I can't explain what it is but that's what I love most about AC games.
@nikitos35582 жыл бұрын
The main reason is the soundtrack. People dont know how important a soundtrack and sound design in general are. One thing I miss in the modern titles is an ongoing soundtrack. In AC2 you always had a soundtrack playing depending on the town you have been in. Thats not the case anymore, sadly.

Foggy vibe?

It's not just AC, most games from the Ps3/Xbox 360 era had this weird kinda mystic vibe. Game developpers during this Era used to have balls, they tried everything without a care in the world. For exemple a game like AC2/Brotherhood wouldn't happen today because of all the conspiration and religious critics that are in the games. Game devs used to be artists. Today you have to turn to Indie for that kind of stories and themes.

***** Well there has been scientific research showing that music affects the brain in many positive ways. It makes you smarter, happier and more productive at any age. But I can tell you from personal experience that, I worked a lot better, increased my focus and attention span and made me think in much more creative ways when solving problems. Not to mention, you don't get bored and can work for extra long hours. Furthermore, if there is a connection between the music you hear to the memories and experiences you've felt. The emotions can be amplified several times to increase productivity. The same way a fighter would listen to aggressive 'fight' music before fighting to pump himself up (or any other music that has a emotional connection to him). In this case, its my love for Assassin's Creed. I love the game and its amazing story line. I love the epic characters. I love everything about the renaissance. All this love and passion allows me to tap into my inner psyche and improve my work and concentration. If you don't feel the same way about music, you are missing out my friend.

why was assassin's creed II the best game ever made? Story! characters and plot were great. absolute enjoyment to hunt down the killers of ezio's father and brother. Soundtrack! really... if this soundtrack doesn't make your heart warmup and shiver, then you must be dead. Graphics! never were realistic, and never shouldnt be! the game looked great without cruel toned down colors. Gameplay! absolute enjoyment to play without useless functions and endless amounts tools, with crisp movement. Tombs! wtf where are my tombs ubisoft? i think i could go on and on but what's the point ubisoft will never do anything like this ever again. my only hope is that some other company with a heart, will create something as good as this game once was.

There won't be ANY AC game like this one. There will be a hundred other for sure, but there's only one AC2, and it's simply the best. This soundtrack reminds me when I first played this game, and I was so amazed. Sadly Ubisoft made CoD from the series, and they're still relying on the success of this game. Still. The problem with the previous episodes is that they have no soul at all. They just want to make a lot of money, and altough those games are not bad either, they are not and never will be as amazing as this one.

(Imagine the song of Ezio's epic speech) Believe me or not, but when I was younger I always wanted a laptop (my parents hate consoles) because I first played AC Bloodlines on PSP when my uncle gave it to me and I absolutely love it; and then my cousins told me stories about Ezio when AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations were released (because they had PS3 and XBox 360). In that time, the only console I had was the PSP and I thought (even if I hadn't had the opportunity to play another AC game since then) it was the best video games serie ever, and now I still think it, it just need more time to be developed another brilliant game like AC2 (it looks like they are working really hard on the new AC Empire), but I know no other AC game will be better than AC2 (its storyline, Ezio's behaviour and biography, places, songs, Desmond... I don't know, it has something that inspires me, that makes it one of the most memorable games ever). I always knew that, when I had a laptop, the first thing I'd do would be installing all AC games (specially AC2). 3 or 4 years ago, my parents offered me the PS4, but I chose PS3 because its games, games prices, but mainly because of AC. I LOVE AC. Now, 9 years later, finally I'm coming to university. And do you know what? I'd kept my word: I'm replaying all the saga for the 7th time now (and more times will come), and I still love it exactly like the first time. I will never regret playing it and any second spent on this saga was worth it.

watched my older brother play when i was 7 years old for the first time back in 2009-10. shit encapsulated me. i was too young too fully understand the story but there was just something about ezio and the game in general that just drew me to it. the memorable characters, the combat, the missions. ezio just look so badass to me. after that i watched my brother play brotherhood the following year, even tho i wasn’t the one playing it felt like i was. i was so excited to see what the story had in store. once again, brotherhood had me mesmerized. ezio continued to amaze me and the overall game didn’t fail to put me in awe. then revelations came the next year. watched my brother play once again. what a fucking game. i damn near cried at the end of the game. mind you, i was still young to fully understand the story but I didn’t give a fuck. the ezio trilogy amazed me so much. fast forward four years, 2016, im 13 now. i finally decide to play the series on my own. amazing. all i have to say. to this day the ezio trilogy are the best games i have ever played. now that i was older i actually understand now only the plot, but ezio as a character. he didn’t just look like a badass to me. he was someone forced into something that ended up being greater than he was, greater than vengeance for his family. his character development was extraordinarily done. he was no longer some 17 year old italian noble, who hoes around causing trouble. he was a matured grand assassin, who now understood the many aspects of his life he failed to fully understand “i had love, but i did not feel it. i had time, but i did not know it”. ezio felt like a real person who suffered so much for understanding. for understanding his role in all of this. i would be lying to you if i said I didn’t tear up at the end of revelations now understanding his story much more. fast forward another four years, 2020, im 17 now (same age my older brother was when he first played ac2 ironically) and bc of the quarantine i figured I’d play the ezio trilogy again bc why not. this game. never ceases to amaze. i feel like im playing it for the first time again. & this game has been with me for a lil over 10 years. the ezio trilogy is one of the greatest pieces of video game storytelling and it’s sad Ubisoft probably will never create an ac game close to the ezio trilogy. im done rambling. the ezio trilogy holds a special in my heart. requiescant in pace, ezio auditore da firenze🖤

I can't even begin to put into words the masterpiece that was the Assassin's Creed franchise, and in particular, the masterful project that was Assassin's Creed 2. I honestly can't summarise or begin to describe how it made me feel to be a part of this incredible experience. What it was and how it felt, eternal. A timeless masterpiece. It's just too much for me to convey what it meant then and what it means now so I'm just going to let this soundtrack be a reminder to myself and a way to narrate the essence of Assassin's Creed, and what it used to be. Forever, Assassin's Creed.

It sucks that they had to ruin the already established story line with Desmond and the animus. If anything, Assassins Creed today could have been about Desmond training assassins in the modern world and working against the Templars actively. Desmond easily could have survived multiple more games, it was unnecessary for him to die during Revelations if you ask me. Now Assassins Creed is just about killing people while you play as different people who aren't connected at all by a storyline, like others said, the magic in the games have completely vanished. I look forward to see Ubisoft bring back Assassins Creed, but I don't like the current trend they have going for them currently. I hope you all have a good time listening to this playlist, I know I did, it brought back a lot of cherished memories.

Late reply but i agree with most of your points here. Personally i believe than new AC games are great, but as RPGs, they dont work as AC games as they dont follow the original formula at all. Despite graphics of Origins and Odyssey nailing it, everything else sucks compared to this game. Just the vibe you get while parkouring venice with this music in the BG is such an amazing vibe than i barely feel while watching gameplay clips of Unity, Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey. Not to forget how deep, touching and incredible the story is. This game is a pure 10/10 and I hope one day Ubisoft at least tries to pull off something nearly as perfect

"Sanctuary" makes me feel sad for everything Ezio has gone through. He was just 17 when he lost his father and his two brother. Everything changed in a single night, from being a young boy to an assassin. He had to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. No time to grieve, no time to cry. Only one task: finding who killed the family and erase them. But then he get involved in something bigger, with to no possibility to turning back. Year after year, Ezio has become stronger, faster, smarter, we can say the perfect assassin. And he had to renounce to his future, to the love of his life, Cristina. Maybe he had fun in the middle, he had a few friends...but that wasn't an ordinary life. Then he saw Cristina dying in his arms... While he was involved in the Assassin's battle, the battle for creating a better world, he did so much for others. But maybe no one has ever heard the scream of sorrow coming from the deep of his heart. Thank you, Ezio, for this magnificent and sad story.

Olivia Woloshyn Hahaha no really, I can. I've listened to this music a lot though. And, when you're playing AC II, you don't stop to just listen to the music, do you?

AC2 was so great. Felt like i was actually in all those different locations six hundred years ago, exploring with one of the most intriguing characters of the franchise. Every game that came out after Revelations seemed a bit watered down to me. Not as atmospheric, in a way. Even standing under a lamplight at dusk in Rome in ACB with the music in the background, looking at all the details they put in was really, really nice. Of course there are lamplights you can stand under in the newer games, but it doesn't feel as friendly or in depth. Playing ACU made me miss Ezio. I don't know, maybe if Ubisoft quit trying to make it a goal to release a new game every year and actually focused on producing a game that could match AC2's standards, we would actually start enjoying them again. I wouldn't even mind if they spent years before a new one is released, as long as something good comes out of it.

I live in Italy so I have phisically visited most of the places showed in AC2, in modern times obviously. I live in Lombardy but according to family lore, our ancestors are from Forlì. Venice was the most emotional part for me as the city still looks 99% similar to the way it looks in the videogame, and when i first saw the San Marco plaza in the game, i recognised it immediately as if i was living a memory again: the palace, the cupolas, the tower, even the moorings and the gondolas are still the same. Not to mentionThe inside of the cathedral which is, simply, perfect. I also like the italian espressions used in the english version of the game, which are often well pronounced. I think the developers have done a good job capturing our spirit and the atmosphere of what is probably the most important part of ur history, the one that shaped our mentality the most: the Renaissance.

Just finished this game for the I-don't-know-how-many'th time and this soundtrack remains one of the best I'ver ever heard. 'Dreams of Venice' still gives me goosebumps every single time.

This soundtrack just hits so hard. I’m already wanting to cry from the first second of the song and this is my first playthrough and man I’m loving it.
