The three things I think Uboat needs most of all are more ports, more ship models and more flags. Especially around Africa and the Americas. While of course the majority of convoys left on the usual routes that we see in game(Halifax to Liverpool, NYC to Liverpool, Murmansk to Liverpool, etc.) there were a lot more ports active in the US, Canada, the Caribbean and South America. Places like Guantanamo Bay, Trinidad, New Orleans, Galveston, Corpus Christi, the Panama Canal not to mention the option for friendly Vichy Ports to offer refuel and ports like Cape Town in South Africa. I’d like to see the port of Archangel more active too, it seems like all the Arctic Convoys only go to Murmansk(a lot of them did in real life but a lot also went into the White Sea. Iceland doesn’t play nearly as big of a roll in game as it did in real life. Adding a US Naval Base at Norfolk and around the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia would make sense too as this was the HQ for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. The Destroyers in game are of a good variety but we could for sure use more Merchant Ship Models. Yes ships like the C3 and Liberty were some of the most common that were far from exclusive(we need more troopships, tankers, Cruisers, Carriers, Battleships, etc). One thing I notice a lack of is flags for other nations, such as Panama, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela Cuba and even the USSR with Merchant Ships. I know there are mods for all of these but some computers can’t handle the mods.

i would like to see a picture in picture camera, like in the x3 or x4 games, where u can watch the target on a small window upper left or upper right and when clicking into it u can maximize the window.

Most importantly I suggest the ability to raise and lower the conning tower DF Loop and Biscay Cross. This allows you to prepare the boat for Patrolling or transiting versus stalking a known target. -crew parading/manning decks when exiting and arriving at the dock, being met by a band. -ability to fly tonnage pennants from an extended periscope when returning to home port. -upgrade options for Flak guns and conning tower versions (videos show relatively minimal interference from aircraft, so perhaps that needs more realistic harassment?) -paint scheme menu options, historical patterns and perhaps a paint kit for the player. -dynamic weathering, extending rust effects, ripped ensign flag, damage modelling sustained thru patrols, especially longer ones. -I would really like the ability to mount and use tower mounted MG-34s (for entering and exiting ports, and versus surface, air or shore targets), but I dare to dream.

It already looks to be a very cool game, just gets better! Further food for thought options: - more ship sinking options. such as eg full ships magazine detonations with dramatic sudden ship explosions, ships sinking via rolling keel-up capsizing, sustained surface fuel fires with long lingering smoke clouds, submerging pirouettes and high pressure air escape washes. Reports of contacts mentioning the sensor they were detected from (except hydrophone because that’s obvious), such as “radio detection from….” or “radar detected bearing……”. This is significant cos it highlights the value of your technology option rationales. Ability to configure/order a default automatic alarm response, so if you are not on the bridge the crew will scream “ALARM!” on sighting an aircraft and the boat will crash dive (Das Boot style) automatically. Instead of simply being awarded medals you never see again, in the captains nook have a dress jacket hanging up, and the medals are added to the jacket to view when waiting for the depth charging to cease. The jacket gets updated with each medal or badge awarded and rank insignia with each promotion. It makes it more relevant. ….perhaps the Captain can wear the jacket whilst in port? Ability to decorate your boat with posters, photos etc. More diversity of missions, such as mine laying, raiding party or time/scenario pressured spy insertions/recoveries, intelligence gathering, downed aircrew recovery. Definetly like to be able to scuttle vessels by opening sea cocks and smashing portholes ect.One thing that i think wpuld help give this game a unique feeling is merchant vessels that would bait uboats by deliberately falling behind the main convoy.I think this would make the risk reward interesting to seasoned players by mixing it up especially ships that could shoot back.Might think twice about defaulting to the deck gun or you may have to position the boat in a superior position such as up behind the stern where the merchant deck gun has no line of sight.

Wish they made an option that could replace that 3D "hud" with realistic 2D kriegsmarine maps. And perhaps an option where the navigator could plot a route on that map with realistic uncertainty.

It would be great to see more supply options along North and South America beside milk cows for those missions. For example refueling in maybe Argentina or Brazil or Venezuela, Cuba?. It would be nice to see accurate scenery in the Caribbean and Florida, maybe some palm trees rather than a French city. How about navigation through coastal rivers? like the Hudson River near NY . And allowing access to go into the pacific ocean around South America. It would broaden the game to encompass the whole world. It would also be good to be able to send specific messages through the radio system.

I've played sub games since silent Hunter 1, played nearly everything basically. I think uboat is exceptional and not at all just for noobs. It has a feel and depth that is closer to reality than even silent Hunter. There are some aspects of silent Hunter that just weren't realistic, things like having no tdc operator to help out etc. However, there were elements of uboat that I hated, and primarily that was information being too readily available on the map. I'm glad to hear they are reworking contacts!

If they do, which would be awesome, it won't be for a quite some time. With them getting everything ready for the full release mid year and then they will have to make sure that runs smoothly and get it up to par....if we see the addition of the allies, it probably would be until mid next year. If they were even planning on doing that at all.

I know of no way to go back to the old style of contacts on the map. Maybe the forums on steam or other UBOAT sites.

I've played Silent Hunter III and Silent Hunter V. Both of these have some enjoyable facets. I really think that UBOAT is a very good simulation except for the Officer management aspects which are distractions. My question is: How does one apply the MODS to the existing game thru STEAM? I would appreciate some help here.

I would really like to see more realistic depth damage, maybe like in „Das Boot“, or just damage being taking all over the boat, instead of what we have in the Game today. Also I would very much enjoy realistic damage to ballast tanks, so for example while being depthcharged upon the ballast tanks are being damaged and cannot be blowed anymore (because there is a hole on the outside). Would also make the game a bit more difficult ;)

Graphically, the only thing that bothers me about this game is the way the boat bobs around in the water. It should be a lot slower, and also show the water washing onto and off of the deck as it does so instead of just cliping through it.

@@crazedjester Well I was a new player few hours ago but I had to refund this buggy crap, they didn't even allowed me to finish 3rd training mission. Where one officer suppose to measure the torpedo trajectory and game asked me to click RMB on that enemy ship....nothing happened, I saw a video someone did the same and he get thru that but for me rmb didn't work at all. And I tried 5 times to get thru this training over and over and everytime no luck.

I really enjoy the game but try as I might I can't get the torpedo solutions. I wish I could lock on and the officers do the math. I haven't been able to torpedo a single ship. I have sunk ships with the deck gun. I can sneak around and hide from destroyers and drop off spies and infiltrated harbour and found AA locations. The game tutorial only lets me torpedo one practice ship then forces me to stop that and start gunnery training. It's very annoying. I want to practice the torpedoes more.

Just get out there and find ships (lots near British coast line) and just practice practice practice. I made a beginner guide tutorial that covers torps. That might be of some assistance to you.

I remember in Silent H. 3. I got pretty good at eyeballing it. Maybe a bit unrealistic, but there you could "slide" the direction of the torpedo with a sort of arrow thingy. Then decide speed and depth- and the crew would find and plot in the numbers. .. Point is this was a way to avoid math.

If they will make it hardcore manual only then im not going to play it more, might even delete it if they do that. Only reason i play it now is because i can play it with some parts automated. Because i cant and im not really interested in learning because its WAY to hard for me. And if they wont include a waypoint in the message i will just ignore them all.

They won't make it a "hardcore" only game. It will be and option to choose. You will still be able to play on a beginner or intermediate setting and have the AI do some of the tasks and still see your objectives
