what's the difference in having a YT channel & having a part-time job while in college?? geez. good luck to this young man!! now, i'm gonna go check out his vids, even tho' i don't care about college football!! 👍

His YT is based on football and him being on the team, as a likeness. A part-time job likely will not be football related and if it is may be a compliance issue again. Did you not listen to the video? He explains everything.

I want some of you selfish pricks to answer this to me. How is it fair to expect somebody to dedicate enough time to be a good student as well as maintain and improve the physical condition and skills of a D1 player? They are their to PLAY SPORTS. They make so much money for the school it's insane, and this guy can't make some money on he side? Are you serious?
@fhfs

Because they don't want outside influence in game play which is hypocritical due to the NCAA signing billion dollar deals to media outlets. He made the right decision to tell them go to hell. Its not affecting the school nor impacting rules. He was basically a businessman contracting with outlets on his channel.

She Who Knows All This is the world??? This is the pimple on a gnat's butt. This is a millisecond of a microscopic blip on a specialized segment, of a specialized team (football) within a huge selection of U.S. collegiate sports events across the nation (not world stage), by a has-been that didn't get started mere kicker (not a starting quarterback) at UCF (not FSU, UF, UM) ... but then again, look at your name (She Who Knows All) vs. mine. I'm a realist and you're delusional. 😃😄

What is the difference between someone on a academic scholarship making this kind of money, and an athlete on an athletic scholarship doing the same thing?
@lorddiethorn
@lorddiethorn 6 жыл бұрын
You cannot get money for the sport that you play. If you are on scholarship as a athlete. You can play other sport as pro but not the sport that are scholarship for. For example if I play for pitt football I can, play for the pittsburgh pirates in the summer but i could not at for the steelers. This dumbness was given a choice to not make money on his KZbin videos in which he is kicking because the ncaa rule book said that is they told if he wanted to be under scholarship he had to stop marking money off his kicking videos but if he wanted toreview video games he could have make money
@naten9

Cullen Diethron I was curious to the aspect of someone on an academic scholarship being able to make money on KZbin based off of their respective scholarship expertise versus an athlete doing the same on his scholarship.

If you make money. On your sport you are pro therefore you can't play in college. The system are different. Many player would not have been allowed into school if it was not for the sport that they played. I trying to be a dick my brother and father both play college basketball. At FSU they one year like eight or nine player who were Who to take buckshot class just so they could stay on the team.

Fair is fair. NCAA notified Mr. Haye that he cannot "profit" on any vids portraying him as a student-athlete (not as a football player), but he can profit on any vids other than as a student -athlete. He got an ultimatum, give up all the profits now and remove all current student-athlete vids, and start anew with new vids without student-athletes and keeping all future profits. He chose to keep the existing profits, and NCAA chose to take back his student-athlete scholarship. From my perspective, he made a dumb choice where he based on his principle that he earned the money, and that he deserved to keep it all. He failed to understand that violated NCAA rules, and he had a chance to rectify in accordance to the NCAA rules, yet he would still cry foul/injustice when he lost his scholarship.
@MalGK24
@MalGK24 7 жыл бұрын
EmperorWildManChan If he wasn't allowed to profit I would understand but if he couldn't post un-monetized videos with other teammates is asking to much. In my opinion you already cut off his income from the videos now you're telling how he should you make his videos is bs. He made his choice and he stands by it. Hopefully new opportunities open up for him.
@JunkMailBoxStuff

EmperorWildManChan Exactly. The rules are the rules. Follow them. Others have and do. There are workable options. There are other job options. There are also other replacement options, and he just proved he was an option and not a need. (Oohhh, that's got to leave a boo boo on the ego.) Enough with the special ❄ little whiny brats. Clearly maybe he should have tried out for the KZbin video scholarship for his tuition instead of football, if there is one. Now we know what his hobby is and his real passion (You tube videos) is. Nothing wrong with that -- just don't act like the football dream is shattered when HE shattered it all by himself, by HIS own choice and HIS decision. HE owns it and folks should stop whining for and with him after HE stepped up to HIS decision and lost on HIS terms, knowing what the established rules were. There were no surprises. He didn't actually take a loss. He went from flat land (no scholarship) to a bump (scholarship), he then violated it by choice and it was removed (no more scholarship) back to flat land. There was no "dip" or penalty to him such as a fine or punitive damages he has to pay for him violating the known rules, so he actually has no loss. But there's a GoFundMe for him?? What?? I think every college student should then put up a GoFunMe account to counter this crap. Again, it just proves he has the "give it to me, I'm entitled to free" attitude. This is just what we do not need to encourage, reward, or feed. Pathetic brat.

I agree that he made a foolish decision. With most of his videos being based off of his life as a student-athlete, even showing school logos at times, the NCAA stepped in and shut him down. Now the fact that they wanted him to give up any money that he'd currently made, is one of the things that people hate about the NCAA. This is an institution that makes hundreds of millions of dollars off of football and basketball athletes on the FBS level ( former D-1 ) level, yet, have a huge problem when they make anything amounting to chump change on their own. Had he'd not been forced to give up any existing profits to this point, I wonder if he'd taken the deal. But the fact that he didn't take the deal, will force the NCAA to deal with this new age of an athlete making money as an entrepreneur over the internet, in college. It'll be interesting to see where this story goes, and where it takes this young man. God will open up new opportunities for him in due time. Hopefully he'll make enough money off of future KZbin videos to further his education in what ever direction he wants to go in. Then again, some of these KZbinrs are making $3,000 for every video that gets 1 million views and are grossing six-figure incomes yearly.

I didn't hear him say in ANY of the interview that he was there for the great educational benefits of UCF. I heard points like money, making videos, football, slaving to football, content creation for income, ... but nothing about how he wants to obtain a college degree above all. He wasn't there for the UCF Knights team or for a college education -- just fast-track street-style cash. He'll be just another among thousands. College education is exactly what he needs to really excel, but he is too foolish to see what is directly in front of his face. That's ignorance & he's pursuing that well.

topaz pitt Bull crap. Grants, loans, other scholarships, or ... hello ... he makes money from his KZbin (business) videos. I worked through college. I had student loans. I paid them off. New generation of babies want the hand outs and don't want to work for what's valuable. That's not how the real world works. If he wants a college degree (and should) there are jobs around the east Orlando & Winter Park area right near the main UCF campus. If he adds 15 to 25 minutes to his travels from campus he could be in the theme park areas. How do I know? Oh ... 1st hand ... alumni ... back when we were the UCF Golden Knights. Been there. Done it. Made it. Squeeky wheels of excuses don't get "special" grease, they get replaced by reality. He just met real world rules. It won't get easier. High school time has ended.

All around Forward It's not about easy. Life is not easy. Everyone wants easy. It was possible. I did it. He can do it. He has the ability, but if he doesn't have the desire because he wants the EASY and lazy way, then he will never really ever be of true worth. The hard work that competitive athletes do is HARD WORK. Some jock isn't just walking onto the field sayin' 'yo, toss ME the ball & YOU all block those big dudes (hard work) while I jog (easy) on down the field to score a TD.' Not happening. That's not a valued receiver doing his job. He'd better be running, not jogging. He has to EARN a spot on that team by proving himself with demonstrating his hard work in pre-season practice and the games before that. History, track record, resume, all are a pattern of your value that must be demonstrated, shown, and proven. So student loans? Easy? No, but it demonstrated that me and the other thousands of folks would do what we needed to better ourselves to be better for a company that would value us also. It actually works on both ends ... crazy concept, but the job and statistics are proven and fairly overwhelming vs the non-college degreed folks send their jobs. Look, I if this kid makes it as the next George Lucas of KZbin then good for him, but that just doesn't seem to be his message. His message is a little whiny and immature due to the established rules that are already within collegiate football -- his CHOSEN (not forced) path. All he had to do was follow the rules, get a different type of job (plenty around there) and if he's as good as he may be then he could be pro in a few years and make millions. ... But he can't wait, so the immature fast-cash now syndrome just might be all he gets and he'll miss out on what could be a great life in pro football. Then again, maybe he found out he wasn't all he thought he was and built himself up on his videos to be and this was his exit excuse. Hummmm.
