Whizzer style was my favourite. Noticed the left leg wasn't even inside the Uke's legs, and both were side to side. Thanks for sharing!

I have a lot of trouble with throws requiring being balanced on one leg/foot (Uchi Mata, Harai Goshi, Hane Goshi), so the first technique shown is the only one I can realistically do. Thank you for posting this video!

Uchi mata, I still can get not get it right haha and get countered by white belts sometimes but I have good material with this , thank´s
@AlejandroCab985 жыл бұрын
the best tip i've ever gotten about the uchimata is to find a way to raise the person's arm (in classical version you use your sleeve grip elbow to push the arm up) which will turn the person sideways just slightly enough to throw them off balance so they topple over

+Samuel Price My base is judo as well and I still am active in the AAU and Freestyle Judo program. Peruse through our videos and you will find quite a few that are hardcore judo. You are probably making reference to the IJF rules-and yes-we will address this more in the future. In fact, we just did some videos on "IJF friendly" Kata Guruma.

Isn't the second variation you're showing just a Sode Tsurikomi Goshi? It looks the same. Toshihiko Koga used to do it this way but with different footwork (he used a front pivot, not back pivot, but it would still be Sode).
@welcomematstevescott9 жыл бұрын
+Max Gs You make a valid point. I remember Koga doing that throw with success in his career as well. I included this variation in this Uchi Mata video owing to the fact that tori uses his leg in an Uchi Mata attack as he throws. This proves the point of how strong and adaptable Judo is in that it doesn't limit these variations of movement in its techniques. As you pointed out, this throw could also be considered a variation of Sode Tsurikomi Goshi. Thanks for your interesting comment!

Nice demo but illegal as a Judo throw. You are not allowed to touch below the belt in Tachwaza. If you struggle to learn uchi mata get uki to kneel with left knee up, attack as traditional uchi mata. I have had good success teaching very young players this way.

+Martin Ball Good comments. These are legal in AAU Judo but not IJF Judo, so if a club only competes in IJF tournaments, it's best to stay within the rules.
@Pubseat9 жыл бұрын
+welcomematstevescott That makes sense. I think I heard IJF is reviewing those rules. Not holding my breath for the comeback of legpicks.
