Great convo, just wish there had been 1 non marxist audience question. also, how sad to have a trump class rather than to study philosophy of natural law f.e in law school

I’m surprised that Chicago would have an obnoxious partisan like Axelrod involved with IOP.

This is what a right wing politician should look like. He is a fanatic in his beliefs about market forces and way too hawkish for my tastes, but he is still a highly intelligent person that bases his argument on facts. His immigration bill also sounds very reasonable, provided that the second part really does get proposed.

It is almost no way for cut legal immigration numbers, but this dude wants to cut in half? He must live in his fantasy if he insists on this kind of agenda.

I’m a woman and thought of myself as a feminist but I am so disappointed in most of the women elected to the House of Representatives. I don’t know if I’ll risk voting for a woman for anything except maybe our Arkansas AG, who is a real fighter. I might vote for Tulsi Gabbard in 2024 if she changes to another party. No more Democrats for me; and I used to be a Democrat activist in the late 60s and early 70s. What happened to Tulsi was unforgivable.

My mom had cancer twelve years on and off and Blue Cross Blue Shield never abandoned us. “Pagamos justos por pecadores.” Those who play the system are the ones who have ruined the healthcare system. I was threatened about once a week by someone telling me that, even though I live abroad and have insurance here, I would have to buy into ACÁ or be fined $700, I think, at tax time.

Bullshit. If you are a US citizen, live full time outside the US, and have full healthcare coverage outside of the US, you do NOT have to buy US insurance, ACA exchange-based or otherwise, nor will you be fined. You numpty yank Trumpers lie as much as your dog emperor.

Thanks for allowing a young, intelligent, conservative senator to speak. Thanks also for the reminder why I don't like David Axelrod and snickering university elites.

Axe was way to easy on him. Asking question and let him tell his bullshit all around. I loved to see an actual debat.

It's so annoying when conservatives argue that the climate has always been changing in history and it's unclear how much is man's role in it. The only graph they need to see is the one on atmospheric carbon dioxide, which shows that for the last 400,000 years atmospheric co2 levels were flat at 300 ppm, and in the last 150 years (since the industrial revolution and the beginning of our industries which emit co2) have exploded 33% to 400 ppm and are rising faster every day. There is no question this is entirely due to man, and climate change (aka the changing of the composition of our atmosphere) is 100% true and real. Republicans need to take a science class, in fact all politicians need to! www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/full.html
