No Republican politician illustrates the power and peril of Donald Trump and his takeover of the G.O.P. quite like New Jersey's two-term governor, Chris Christie. Christie, once the exemplar of Republican pugilism, went from competitor to wingman in Trump's successful rise to the presidency only to become his most outspoken antagonist. How does a man who has seen it all think the United States arrived at this juncture and what does he think the future holds?
Featuring former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie in conversation with Leigh Ann Caldwell, American political reporter for The Washington Post.

I want to like Christie......but like all others who say Trump can't be president.......he won't vote for Biden......which is a vote for Trump who he said he can't vote for. Just because he votes in New Jersey....doesn't mean his vote wouldn't mean something in Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Arizona. Seems dumb

Exactly. Either Trump is an existential threat or he’s not. Bill Barr is doing the same thing. Sounding the alarm on Trump then trying to say Biden is worse. It’s being disingenuous.

I think that this is an excellent time to be having these trials. You have almost 9 years of new voters who need to hear about djt's dirty dishwater as so easily seen in this NY hush $$, voter obstruction, and tax cheating case. There is also a significant number of voters who have heard his and our complaints that they tuned it out. So refreshing everyone's memory on his affairs and subsequent cover ups.

I don't have the answer but the problem is obvious. No competition, name me somewhere that you have two choices besides the presidency ? You can't ! Examples, motorcycles, honda, Yamaha, kawasaki, BMW and others. Autos GM, Ford, Honda, Hyundai and others. I could go on. How would we like to have 2 choices in soda Pepsi or 7 up. No others. Competition improves the product overall.

Those real life traumas in this case make the man. It enhances empathy and understanding. If even Christie says he is not as good as he was in his forties then why the heck was HE running for president? After beachgate, we all know he outs his family before his constituents and that’s just the funny example. That pic of him sunbathing on his newly privatized beach was quite the display…just sayin’. And he says Biden can’t sell his policies. Well of course he can’t if people like Christie disparage him personally despite saying it’s not personal, leaving the uneducated or those with less knowledge no recourse but to decide on physicallity as criteria accentuated by Christie himself! The runaround is astounding. And Christie says he is best choice for president…when he just finished saying he is not as good public representative as he was in his forties. Jeesh. His slip is firefly showing.

One of worse things is that Chris Christie is choosing politics over country. He should recommend to people that vote for Joe Biden is vote for democracy while vote for Donald Trump or third party candidate is vote for authoritarian government. Donald Trump wants to be dictator. That Isn’t allow in United States period.

He does make some valid points about Biden’s potential for vitality and vibrancy, his ability to sell it. I just happen to be of the camp that we’re stuck with these two choices. You can’t always fall in love with the candidates, but it’s like riding a bus. The bus may not be going exactly where you’d like, but you catch the one going in the right direction. If everyone takes his approach of “I dunno, I don’t think I can vote for either one,” then I think you’ll have a minority of the electorate electing Trump.

I’m done, I really had respect until today. To say, he is old is ridiculous. Just an easy out and an excuse not to commit and vote for party first. I really was going to vote for you if you were running. I’m glad you showed your colors. You are totally wrong. I will never vote for you if you for President. I should have known. Shame on you. All you want is power. And another note he is waiting for Biden’s phone call! What the ___. Really, after what Christie said. Power and money is more important than democracy. Now, the one who said never, about Trump, NH Governor, Bolton, Christy.. what do you think Haley do?! Most likely the same.

@user-dg7ec4xg2j sorry disagree this video was from 3 months ago. He maybe smart. But, he is totally against Biden at that point two months ago. I’m sure he is same way now. Listen to the entire video. Then you will understand why I said, what I said. He doesn’t agree with anything with Biden. He doesn’t agree with his policies. No way, would the Biden campaign would like him to stump for him. Unless Biden has changed.

So, is Biden looking like he'd be a good option for 4 more years, now? And I'm not asking this to mock him. In fact, I defended Bernie when everyone (who wanted to hide why they really didn't want him) was saying he's so old... and then voted for Biden. Humans love their double standards and the usual behaviors of ego and fanaticism, but when some try to advertise they're miles ahead, morally, than their counterparts/opposition, they should be expecting extra criticism regarding hypocritical choices and statements, indeed. No exceptions, imo. I am not American and I just heard this guy talk, and he surprised me. Not many sound as objective as this, to truly criticize both sides of the fence and mean it with their actual choices. As someone who believes every country deserves better options than the ones we get, almost everywhere at this point in history, and actually means it, I respect his choice even if I'd definitely vote for Biden if I were an American citizen. Trump must be stopped but I see too many (especially involved in established media, around the world) admiring and promoting him and his supposedly healthier campaign... They often mention his ways and obvious contradictions/lies, but they act as if he's fine and only Biden has serious flaws. Goes to show what kind of people are picked as journalists etc. But that isn't new. None of these human self-inflicted prophecies of corruption and self-destruction are new. What's new is that everyone pretends they resist corruption but they flock to support awful options in fanatical ways (yes, Trump fans are the actual experts in that behavior, but the whole system of politics isn't exactly based on dignity and honesty... of course it maintains and worsens any issues, and of course the worst kinds of people will know how to play their game best past a certain point and exploit every factor they can use in their favor even though they are the opposite of saints).
@orlandogloom5409
@orlandogloom5409 2 ай бұрын
*and mean it and show it with their actual choices I mean, whatever one says gotta be reflected in their actions. And of course a conservative person would have a hard time supporting the supposedly opposite party, anyway. Just refusing to vote for Trump is good enough for me, when everyone promotes him, directly or indirectly. Besides, sometimes things are a bit more complicated. He said he doesn't like Trump but at the same time he doesn't believe Biden can make it, and now very few would dare to deny that. Whether we like it or not. I think it's clear that, if any God exists, Trump is actually right about him being a republican, lol. Everything is in his favor lately. Hopefully it still won't be enough for him to make his grand return...

Christi imposes a Taft like figure. Taft was a wildly popular president in the US. If anything, he's looking a little frail. In all seriousness, someone should do some looking in to those donors who flooded the coffers of Nimrata and Desantos. They outspent the Christie campaign 6 to 1 in the NH race alone.

My message to Chris Christi is this: I'm a baby boomer. I completely agree with you. We believe we are the most selfish generation. We we were given everything by our parents. Yet, it wasn't enough. On behalf of my generation, I'm sorry for our younger generations. But it's not over yet. Hopefully the younger generation will realize this and move on towards the future.
