That's why FIFA, UEFA, the UCI, the IOC etc. are all based there. And I seriously think it's about time the EU and others call this out. It can't be in our or these sports' interests to have their respective governing bodies hidden away from scrutiny and transparency.

UCI has a valid point. So many riders did a double-take on Pogacar’s wearing of the fuchsia/pink combination (like, “what the f*ck is that outfit???”), that the UCI correctly identified the danger of riders taking their eyes off the wheel in front. The fuchsia/pink outfit is clearly even a greater safety issue than long socks.

I was racing in the '90s with an old Park City cycling club skin suit but I didn't know it was threadbare and you could see my cheeks. Some guy was on my wheel and he just kept calling me sexy and saying I should get a new skin suit. Well at the end of the race it was a good bunch sprint and he sprints past me and he shouts at me" see you sexy". Not too many guys faster than me but I didn't realize that that was freaking Steve Hegg, the Olympian and reiging US pro road race champion. Pretty damn funny. Saw him after the race and he said I should come by and pick up skin suit and jersey from his house. He hooked me up with the LA sheriff's team. Good times. Nobody tried to disqualify me though.

Two points - 1. Firstly, I totally disagree with your preferred choice of black shorts and personally really like the mauve / pink jersey combination [and more importantly, Pogacar really liked them too!] 2. Mario Cippolini was fined numerous times for his garish choice of cycling apparel [eg: the striped see-thru skin suit he wore for a time trial and the 'stars and stripes' US flag style kit he wore when riding for Cannodale-Saeco]. It's nothing new - get over it.

Read the GCN article. UCI, please do something about the ugly Sodka "green" jersey! That is way worse if you can't pick out someone in it rather than bib short color. Organizer's skinsuit and response. The problem is trying to do the color as an "honor" thing without communicating it to an extent. If a color of something is because its to be honored and it isn't plastered all over social media is it really honored? Just move back to all-pink now that you've "honored" it. No damage done. If the actual reasoning is for a more neutral tone for the unders, sure UCI hop all over and let's see how that goes. But then please enforce brightly colored official jerseys! In most areas its fine but it is awful when it doesn't work.

I find it very hard to believe that there was any serious consideration to disqualifying Tadej. More likely they just contacted him / the team and said to fix the issue ... irrespective of whether you or I agree with the rule or not. However, in the end, agree that the UCI has egg on its face after this has been posted and discussed quite a bit ... I'm sure the organizers are sorting out properly.
