I was recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and my first chemo session had a 30 min drip of Keytruda. I kid you not my breast lump shrunk significantly to where I can’t feel it by the third week of chemo. I’m due for my second dose of Keytruda this Thursday in my 4th session

PD-L1 is constitutively expressed on a subset of macrophages, but may be rapidly upregulated in a number of different tissue types and by tumors in response to interferon-gamma and other inflammatory mediators. They do bring hope for a cure.

It might have something to do with the Geo Engineering of our weather ! Maybe if they stopped spraying chemicals that we breath , drink and eat cancer rates will go down ... but so will their paycheck

What they don't talk about is the price. In the USA, it's about $5k per treatment, we just got our first bill for it

You take a older person that is on SSI, medicare will pay 80% if you can pay the 20% first. So, the person on SSI has to pay $1000 themself per treatment. SSI pay, in Alabama, is less than that for the whole month.

Speedy5310 I agree. The Tumor actually inhibits the T cell and inactivates it. The tumor does so by binding to the PD-1 receptor. Keytruda actually prevents the binding of PD-1 and that way the Tumor cannot inactivate the T cell.

I got my second dose of immunotherapy with Keytruda 3 days ago, and I have had no side effects at all from this drug. This is my third bout with melanoma and the other drugs they gave me (Interferon the first time and Yurvoy and Opdivo the second time) had terrible side effects. I was expecting the same but this is awesome. If this drug gets rid of the cancer, then it is indeed an amazing drug. P.S. After 8 weeks I started getting fevers and breathing problems. I had to be put on steroids. Not sure If I'll be put back on it. All these immunotherapy drugs effect my liver very bad.

Keytruda akaaPembrolizumab Drug $10,500 per month for treatment?

Americans yell loud if anybody suggests new gun laws but seem to stay mute on things like your $10,500 travesty. Here in Australia via the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) a 50ml vial of Keytruda costs $28US where as in the US you would pay over $2000US.

Ryan and if you don’t have insurance, fill out a form and the company will evaluate your financial circumstance and usually do it for much cheaper or free.

Ryan, still. It burns the system, and creates more income, and health inequality. It’s also amoral.

this is an advertisement. This drug shows promise in studies but there are side effects such as hypothyroidism, type 1 diabetes, liver toxicity and kidney disease.

There's side effects from having melanoma too. Death. I'll take my chances. They're miles from where they were 10 year's ago.
