As always, another nice review. I have been using the same candle lantern for over 40 years. Even in the summer it is useful for burning humidity and dampness from the tent and bedding before turning in for the night. I rather enjoy the light they put out; much like comparing high-fidelity vinyl to a cd recordings or the glow of a candle to the glare of LED.

I love mine, and might even pick up a second one. It's a beautiful little lantern, very practical, and it's kind of like having a wee campfire when you aren't allowed to have an open fire due to dryness/fire ban season. I need to check with the town fire department here and make certain it is legal!! Pretty sure it's alright - if it is contained. They give a great glow, and I have done a trial run with my UCO lantern beneath a rain poncho in around -20C. Impressive. A great piece of kit, indeed. All the best!!

I’ll try it out in a smaller enclosure to see if it adds more warmth than in the fairly big tent I tested it in. It seems quite well contained inside the lantern with low risk of it causing a fire, but then, if it’s warm enough for a fire ban I might stick to a LED-lantern. But thanks for the nice comment! I use mine in the house, being off grid in the winter, sun is scarce for solar. I was just wondering if anyone else has the problem of the candle melting wax all over the place. The candle melts and the wax goes underneath the plate and spring, coming out of the slot on the side and then the spring is buried in wax once it cools. And it keeps happening. Just fills with wax and pours out the side, every time.

@@BuckyHoover that sounds like a bummer! Unfortunately I broke my glass a while back and haven’t gotten to replacing it and before I only used it in a tent. Maybe burns differently indoors? I’ll check with a friend who uses his frequently if he’s had the same issue.
