I live in CT but didn’t go to UConn, so I think in an unbiased way on this. From the fanbase perspective: 1. Legacy UConn basketball-dominant fans love the Big East for obvious reasons. 2. UConn football-dominant fans are yearning for a P* invite. 3. General /across the board UConn fans realize long term sustainability is by moving to a P* conference and that basketball could keep some Big East opponents as out of conference games every so often to keep the legacy fans happy. 4. The one thing everybody agrees on is that the Big East tournament is a one of a kind jewel that can't be replaced, so an annual game or two at MSG would likely soften that blow. They can also put a periodic game in Boston Garden against anyone but especially against a northeast foe for similar purposes. All in all, the fanbase generally realizes the P* move is needed/inevitable.

As a long time UConn fan, I have no doubt our football program can compete with Big 12 programs given P4 type revenue. All you have to do is look at how UConn performed when they were part of the old Big East. They were the second fastest program to go from AA to a top 25 Div 1A program. They tied for the Big East title 2xs from 2004-2010 and played in a BCS Bowl in 2010 (vs Oklahoma, which they were competitive in until the 4th quarter). Things went off the rails when their coach left in 2010 and Big East football disbanded. They now have Jim Mora as coach (3rd year), and all points indicate a winning record this year (my guestimate is 8-4). The big issue with the Big 12 for UConn fans is the lack of regional rivals, outside of WVU and Cincinatti (e.g., Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, UNC, NCST, UVA, VT). Although you can see where Yormark is going with this... a 20-24 team league, assuming the likely implosion of the ACC. That's the only way this makes long term sense for UConn. All that said, it's a bold strategic move to become the undisputed #1 basketball conference (men's & women's), gain a foothold in the biggest media market and accelerate the demise of the ACC as a "power conference." PS I think you are one of the better channels covering the Big 12. Keep up the good work.

When UConn was winning, it drew close to 40k regularly. Fourth, you got 2 best basketball programs in the country. There is a serious chance UConn can win both men and women national championships this year. Both basketball programs are huge money makers for Uconn. Fifth, you got the support of the entire state. @@guybuckhannon ACC can survive. If Florida St. and UNC and Clemson want to leave the SEC is there if they want to them. They don’t. UConn is a stupid fit for the BIG 12. Brett Yormark is overrated. The 4 PAC-12 schools fell right in his lap.

Its BS. Uconn is a bball school. They new admin smartly curtailed the silky football adpirations. The reason UConn mens bball has comecback is having the actual Big East old rivalries and kids realizing bball is #1, thats where they are allocating money. Uconn bball revenue is #4 nationally

UConn basketball would attract a crowd in the middle of the Sahara Desert! By the way, UConn men didn't "come back" Since 1999 we have won six National championships on the men's side and the women altogether have won 11.This year we will add one more to both the men and the women. I think the next closest on the mens side is North Carolina. Kansas is pretty good too, but they have done nothing on the women's side

@davidzitzkat289 I'm a Uconn fan. They did comeback, they had a horrible stretch of years before Hurley. Yes the Bog East has helped recruiting. It also has helped attendance and atmosphere actually having rivalries. Nobody gives a crap about by playing Wichita St and many of the other AAC opponents, other than that win. UConn going to B12 would be a money grab that willed poorly when the eventual Big 2 in football officially happens, it's already there in theory.

Goodness, here we go again. I feel like this poor horse has already been sufficiently beat to death. I said it last year and I will say it again, UConn isn't going to be added to the Big 12. The only real question you need to ask is, would the Big 12's media partners (ESPN and Fox) be willing to pony up more $$$$ to add UConn? I think we all know the answer to that question. Getting enough votes in the Big 12 to add UConn is about as realistic as FSU and Clemson deciding to join the Big 12. Yeah, I don't see either scenario happening. Per ESPN Aug 23, 2024 ~ "No vote has occurred for a potential Huskies membership, nor is one close to happening, as sources cautioned that there has been pushback among several members that would need to be overcome." (THAT'S A KEY NOTE) Per ESPN Aug 23, 2024 ~ "I think the word is 'premature,'" a high-ranking Big 12 official said. "There's a far distance between conversations and anything that would happen. The presidents haven't seen the case yet." Per ESPN Aug 23, 2024 ~ "multiple athletic directors within the Big 12 have been outspoken against it" (THAT'S A KEY NOTE) Per the AP Aug 23, 2024 ~ "The people who spoke to the AP said a definitive decision for either side is not imminent and Yormark must still build consensus among his members." Per CBS Aug 23, 2024 ~ "It's uncertain at this stage if Big 12 presidents are willing to flip their stance on UConn." Per BleacherReport Aug 23, 2024 ~ "UConn would need 12 of 16 league members to accept the school into the league "in a president-level vote." Per BleacherReport Aug 23, 2024 ~ "Contingent upon the school meeting certain investment thresholds in the sport, UConn football would join the Big 12 in 2031."
