Since this is Toyota, and just to share. Once my bro own a 1st batch Rav4. AC never gets cold despite changed the usual stuff like compressor, new gas, expansion valve, full service and also eliminating the heater function. Thing is the air is cold but only near the vents. So being a big cabin SUV, we often have to max up the blower motor but still it was not satisfying. To me I say the AC is done and almost giving up after many RM and effort since almost everything is in order. Then the usual workshop I went and asked the boss listen to my strict, honest and tedious complaint. He was from APM Air Cond near Sri Kembangan and upon listen to my feedback,he agrees something is not right. He check for 10 minutes with numerous gadget then he found almost no problem, even putting the thermometer at the vents and it was good cool just somehow the cold is not well spread to entire cabin. Then found the culprit and he showed me the diagram on one thing call condenser. So he asked me to place my palm onto the condeser with AC running and almost in seconds I cannot stand long because too hot to touch. Then he told me the heat level should be only warm for palm to lay onto. If it is too hot, then it is clogged. Heat is not well exchanged thus unable to dispense heat fast enough resulting air cond cannot stay nicely cool. So with his contact he managed to get a new condenser from APM(honesly it was lucky since RAV is a dinosour here). And changed it and again have to pour in the new gas and labor. True enough the aircond is then super cold in the entire cabin! Mind you the 5 door RAV4 does not have rear blower, as entire cabin get cool air from only dash vents. Under the sun, the AC cools down very fast too. The whole car was like super nice to drive but we decide to immediately sell it while it is good. It was a good lesson. Condenser is the similar looking to radiator but smaller. Usually sits infront or behind radiator. Sorry for long writw but my past experience. Cheers.
