I love Niall Ferguson. Not quite as much as he loves himself, but I still love him, and the tie.

@AbtinX His name is Philip Freihofner, oboist and composer. From his profile on American Composers Forum: "First music sale (1984) was a theme for talk-show series: "Conversations with History" made with a monophonic synth (CAT) & Roland Echoplex."

Come on Niall, two hundred years in the British empire is a far cry from the time span within which things happen today. Sorry to hog the comments, haha. I'm just hammered and really enjoying this interview.

Niall's four square theory seems so flexible as to be non-falsifiable. It can pretty much fit any scenario and seem perfectly reasonable. This is a problem for any theory.

Counterfactual history is great fun. But lets not get carried away. It's speculation pure and simple. Niall is not better at it, for all his knowledge, than a whole slew of dilettantes. It simply has no solid foundation.

As below.. It may come as a surprise to you that UK has infinitely more cultural influence than USA which has merely economic influence. Do a bit of travelling my friend.
