I was diagnosed with NAFLD, NASH and F3-F4 fibrosis. In one year of a very low carb diet I completely reversed all of it. My liver is now completely healed and I am 65 pounds lighter. You don't need pills, you need to clean up your diet. Remove all processed carbs, sugar and vegetable oil. That's all you need to do.

I have accute NAFLD. It has been frustrating because modern doctors don't know how to treat it. Their recommendation were wrong to help me. If it wasn't for Dr. Berg videos and my own research, I be worse off. I cut sugar totally, did IF and doing Keto. Also taking Choline, Tumeric/ Curcumin , TUDCA, and few other supplements havedropped my liver enzymes drastically. I wish anyone luck with NAFLD. There is hope to treat it. Any questions, let me know

She is promoting the interests Big Pharma. Her response to the question about the ridiculously expensive drugs, is to negotiate with the drug companies to make them more affordable to the average patient. How about not taking the drugs and promoting diet and lifestyle changes instead? It is far better to eliminate the cause of fatty liver disease rather than treat the symptoms.

If people would exercise, lose weight, and eat right we wouldn't have a national health care crisis. I love when people talk about Scandinavian healthcare. Have you been to any of those countries? They DON'T look like us. Obesity is very rare. Go to a baseball game in the USA and look at the people. For every "average" weight person you will see 3-4 overweight and 2 more that are morbidly obese! Don't blame the doctors! Don't blame pharma. The estimate is there may be as many as 20,000,000 Americans with NASH. Why wouldn't you develop a drug to treat it??? You don't think these people have been told to change their lifestyle?
@susangrande8142

@Warren Winston one of the problems is that the cause of the epidemic of NAFLD is people eating too much sugar and carbs, a.k.a, breads, cereals, pastas, made from grains, especially GMO wheat (glyphosate is bad news for the human body; among other things, it’s an endocrine disrupters). Refined flour has a higher glycemic index than table sugar (sucrose). You can blame big agriculture and big food. Big Pharma is going along for the $$ ride. And, btw, exercise has little to do with it. The problem is the sugar and simple carbs. Your digestive system breaks down carbs to sucrose, which is 1 molecule of glucose and 1 molecule of fructose. The fructose is the problem for your liver. Almost all of the tissues of your body can use the glucose for fuel; only your liver can use that fructose for fuel. When the liver can’t use any more of all of that fructose for fuel, it converts it to fat, and stores it in the liver. So: too much sugar and carbs=NAFLD. But you don’t have to believe what I wrote here in this summary. Please check out the miracles of chemistry and digestion for yourself. Oh, and then there’s the fact that sugar and its friends, simple carbs, are highly addictive for humans.
@bighands69

Some people need the drugs there is no getting around that fact. Diet helps the vast majority of people but some will require extra help.

FORMULAR TO REVERSE FATTY LIVER. i have fatty liver. my dad have cirrhosis and passed away due to it. i spend months after months testing my diet and studying about nutrition. (FIRSTLY DO NOT DRINK alcohol as they are turned sugar eventually, if u continue then there is no point studying here, just die eventually). HERE, we focus on the real fatty liver as underlying cause, is due to bad diet and inactive meaning no exercise , stop your excuses and do justice to your own life my friends. the number 1 poor habit we have is eating too much carbohydrates (white bread or even whole meal still have carbohydrates by the way, pasta, noodles, RICE, even brown rice red black ... all rice have carbohydrates , corn, potatoes, cakes, biscuits) these carbohydrates are everywhere out there selling to us just to keep us full but served tiny nutritional benefits to our body. it is just a habit. if you dont understand what is carbohydrates, it is another word glucose , which mean SUGAR! they turned into sugar in our body. more than often, we consumed more than enough carbohydrates and the excess are all unhealthy. supposedly if we exercise, our metabolism increase, and "burn" of calories and glucose in a form of energy. that is fine because it is math. but often we do not exercise, even if you are not obese which i am not, i am slim yet i have fatty liver, i do not drink and smoke ever, i wasnt on any medication, i had no other diseases ! it was because of all sugar, i ate lots n lots of rice! sometimes noodles, and extra bread everyday as snacks with kaya. i eat cookies too.. they are all sugar eventually. i did not exercise at all for years. i eat fatty red meat too. i used oil to cook. but it is actually the carbohydrates that is causing the fatty liver. now i exercise and lost 7 kg. but its no use, because it barely able to directly burn off liver fats even after we lost lots of weights from other part of body fat. the right way instead is to cut off all bread, potatoes, starch, corn, sugar drink, refined sugar, and FRUITS!!! apples, watermelon, banana.... they are high in fructose! which is sugar !! im serious here, cut off fruits ! now, we r left with veggies, tofu, carrots, beans, mushrooms, fish, chicken breast, coffee no sugar, tea no sugar. COFFEE AND GREEN TEA IS EXCELLENT for liver. thats it. seriously.... and boil or steam them only... no oil please. boring isnt it? but you need to reverse your fatty liver back to heathy liver isnt it or die. which do u choose? one way to know is ultrasound, but another is simple blood test for AST AND ALT level ! simple! if they fall back to healthy range, you are likely succeed. just 2-3 months and u can have SIGNIFICANT improvement ! also, you can continue to exercise as it works hand in hand with your diet ! no smoking please at all. stop that lame useless "cool" habit. if your friends smoke, then just don't stay beside. lastly, we need to eat on time, after 7pm, do not eat anything until next afternoon 12pm is best, to allow our body to digest, and to burn off fat, when our body do not source from food intake, it will source from our body fat, that is how without exercising, fat can be reduced. that is a superior way to burn off fat from liver just by fasting! again this is temporarily until you reverse fatty liver. I REPEAT as summary, 1) EXERCISE AND SWEAT IT OUT (BUT EVEN IF YOU EXERCISE BUT EAT LOTS OF SUGAR AND CARBS , IT IS USELESS!). 2) EAT NO CARBOHYDRATES, SUGAR AND NO FRUITS 3) SLEEP WELL ON TIME SO WE DONT STRESS OUR ORGANS LETTING THEM REST AND HEAL FROM INFLAMMATION 4) EAT AT THE RIGHT TIME TO PREVENT ORGANS FROM NOT ABLE TO REST AND RECOVER FROM INFLAMMATIONS AND TOXINS. 5) FASTING AFTER DINNER TILL NEXT LUNCH, OR AT LEAST NEXT BREAKFAST (NOTE THAT YOU DO NOT OVEREAT TO MAKE UP FOR THE HUNGER, THAT IS FASTING MISTAKE AND WILL BACK FIRE). YOU ARE ALLOW TO DRINK WATER AND MAKE SURE YOU DO. last tips, whole milk are high in sugar and fat too, FRUITS ARE NOT PROCESS BY INSULIN BUT DIRECTLY PROCESS RIGHT BY OUR LIVER, SO STOP FRUCTOUS AND LET OUR LIVER HEAL ! 5) NO SALT. 7)NO ALCOHOL 8)NO SNACKS 9) NO FRIED FOOD NO FAST FOOD. 10)LITTLE RED MEAT, EAT FISH AND CHICKEN INSTEAD. 11) NO RASIN. ALSO , you think milk sound good, but not for diabetes and fatty liver patient. also no butter ! and i do not eat egg while trying to reverse my fatty liver. IT WORKS! im sharing you and the world, because i lost my father due to liver problem. and i have fatty liver. we were very uninformed and uneducated with our lifestyle. doctors often just see us 5 mins and we FO. they do not explain to us , they just say its fat. its wrong. its sugar and carbohydrates we do not understand at all. doctors like to condescending us. they feel like they r so high to behave like a real human and we r just another animals from part of their job. TRUST ME, you tell whatever i said to any doctors, they cant disagree, BUT THEY DIDNT SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ginger, we must not over consume! while it is good, over consume is too heaty, and liver cant take it! heaty is bad for liver. so dont be theoretical . HERE LETS DO FALL VICTIM TO DOCTORS BUSINESS INTERESTS WHO WANNA PLAY US FOR MONEY. AND PROLONG OUR CHANCE OF SURVIVAL. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNOWS HOW TO REVERSE FATTY LIVER ARE THOSE WHO HAD REVERSED THEIR OWN FATTY LIVER. NOT DOCTORS! TAKE 70mg of small turmeric for 3 months, that is my powerful final tips !

The very first step must be to stop worsening the situation. Stop consuming alcohol, sugar, fructose. Quit all of that. Quit anything that can only be handled by the liver. Stop making your liver work overtime. And it actually seems this will reduce the amount of fat already deposited in the liver.

AllI heard her say was “ Hi there, I’m a drug rep. Here’s some drugs. Only some of them killed the patient’s ,the rest of them had marginal improvement but the results aren’t all in so we probably cherry-picked the studies. We’ll gloss over that vitamin e, which you can get at any Costco or Walmart is likely better than the drugs I’m touting works better and has fewer side effects. Please offer up the patients that trust you to the sacrificial drug testing business. If they die, we will blame the dosage or compliance. It couldn’t possibly be our crap shoot of side effects.” If the patients have weight loss, they will want to take our drugs. Why not just feed them all tapeworms. That will cause them to lose weigh even i the focus isn’t on actually fixing the core problem.

Pieter Hoek The focus on the medicine side of it is more to buy people more time to change, habits are hard to break, secondly, NAFLD isn't always caused by environment, there are genetic causes too, things like Familial Hypercholesterolemia can lead to fatty liver, as well as several errors of lipid metabolism. Psychologist are often involved in cases of Lifestyle causes, and so are dieticians, but yes addressing the root cause is more effective however often it is the most complex part of the issue.

Fructose (which sucrose is half glucose, half fructose, but also in high fructose corn syrup and other things) is the problem for NAFLD because only the liver processes fructose, and the side-effects are a fatty liver, made more extreme when you overload the liver by quickly downing large amounts in a short period of time. Don’t drink your calories especially those with fructose in them in any form, “natural fruit” or not. If you have fructose, have it in whole fruit.

Confused about whether the recommendation is 150 mins of aerobic exercise a week PLUS 135 mins (3 x 45 mins) of resistance exercise or whether it was either the aerobic or the resistance. Doing both would involve 3 days of 45 mins resistance and 3 days of almost an hour of aerobic, with only one recovery day. Surely this would create a risk of injury including overuse injury, as well as being impossible for most people to fit in? Walking vigorously to work is not always an option with the amount of pollution around and cycling is unfortunately not always safe and going to the gym so much would be deathly boring....

Translation: you’ll find all kinds of excuses to avoid even trying to exercise, so why try at all? An amazing amount of help towards possibly healing a NAFLD situation is to stop ingesting fructose (the cause of NAFLD) and fasting to burn it off and out. At least for most people, the visceral fat and in particular the fat IN the liver and pancreas is used up first, but you need to fast for long enough to use up the glucose and glycogen stores, and done for long enough, entering ketosis it’ll prioritize the fat in the liver and pancreas. Exercise absolutely will help with insulin sensitivity, but exercise doesn’t burn off nearly as many calories as many people believe. You can only really undo a fatty liver via diet and burning it off via fasting to burn it off while also not adding more fructose from any source that works against it.

Fatty liver = fibrosis which if sufficiently advanced becomes cirrhosis which will eventually kill you unless you have a liver transplant. So yes it can kill you. But fatty liver reduces your well-being and zest for life, the fattier the liver the less able is the liver to provide your body with all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals to your blood from the food you eat. So it sucks to have NASH. Obesity over time causes NASH and liver Fibrosis which with aging, occasional infections, metabolic syndrome leads in stages to stiifening up the liver "hardening it". Eventually without well-being interventions (e.g., ideal BMI & cut all sugars/alcohol/fruit) the liver can reach a cirrhosis state. Big problem. FYI the Liver Function Panel of pathology tests can mislead you into complacently thinking your liver is ok when your really your liver is well advanced with fibrosis. A liver stiffness test reveals how you're really doing. Scans will show up any liver scarring - which reveals if the liver has had traumas - "insults" the medicos call it. But keep in mind the liver is the only organ that actively repairs itself. So lose weight, e.g., go for ideal BMI & cut all sugars/alcohol/ reduce fruit & avoid carbs, eat wholesome unprocessed food only.

Bullshit. She is getting blind because she was diagnosed too late from diabetes, NOT because of Metformin.
