Even every 15 or 30 mins is very normal in those newborn days. Baby is trying to get their nutrition and build mom's supply. We need to remember that baby's tummy are small and get emptied very quickly. That 2-3 hours between feeds is not really accurate. Babies feed more frequently than that as newborns. Only when they're are able to sleep for longer stretches after milk has come in may that work. Learn and follow baby's hunger cues. Its also important to keep baby with mom and ensure mom is surrounded by helping family members and friends. They can help burp baby, change diapers, get mom's food and drinks, help mom manage pain, eliminate stress, encourage her, etc. Having a baby is a relational affair.
